- Broadway's original Annie, Andrea McArdle, sings the showstopping "Tomorrow" for one of Merv's Las Vegas shows in 1978. Merv Griffin had over 5000 guests appear on his show from 1963-1986. Footage from the Merv Griffin Show is available for licensing to all forms of media through Reelin' In The Years Productions. www.reelininthe....
I don't understand why no one can surpass her voice as Annie, she was perfect for the role and had an amazing voice for child. I was expecting new Annie stars would have the same technique as hers, but no one came close. That to me is more of a definition of a gift that Andrea had over others.
Sabrina Carey nothing. Just Andrea is the best
Sabrina Coleman hm
I am. It's just there's never been an annie i heard with a friend named Hannah.
Because your making comments, so i responded to them. I just realized your talking about the annie movie which no one speaks of. Annie needs to end on the song anything but you, and that's the perfect ending as far as the plays and movies go in my opinion. Except the 2014 one. Yeah 2014 sucked.
Plus Alieen quinn is good too. Andrea in most peoples opinions is the best due to her strong vocal.
Andrea has continued to work in the theater & is now is starring in "Hello Dolly". Great to see a child star continue to work & survive the pitfalls of so many child actors. Bravo Andrea.
Yes!!!😘
Man, this is flawless! Plus, she sings as if she weren't making any effort at all. Nice, very nice
The best "Annie" ever.
By far!
I dont understand really!
I've seen a clip of Ms.McArdle with her daughter..Ms.Kalehoff here at You Tube and she sings beautifully..like her famous mom.
Don't forget Sarah Jessica Parker
and Allison Smith!
This song always makes me cry, especially now. God bless America,.
No one has beat her voice!! This is her song!!
Love her voice! The best rendition of Tomorrow that I've heard.
ANDREA MCARDLE WAS THE BEST "ANNIIE" IN THE HISTORY OF BROADWAY AND SHOW BUSINESS AND SHE SHOULD NEVER EVER FORGET THAT!!. SHE HAD THE BEST VOICE FOR THE TOP SELLING ALBUM OF THAT YEAR AND FOR MANY YEARS AFTER. THE BEST!!! SHE IS THE REASON THAT I EVER BECAME INTERESTED IN 'ANNIE' THE MUSICAL AND WHY I WANTED TO SING ALTO INSTEAD OF SOPRANO. SIMPLY THE BEST MS. MCARDLE. NO ONE WILL EVER COMPARE AND MY PARENTS GAVE ME THIS ALBUM WITH MY FAVOURITE DOLLHOUSE AT 13 years old. YOUR VOICE IS BLESSED. NEVER FORGET YOUR HARD WORK. THANK YOU FOR THE MEMORIES!!!
Why are you SCREAMING???
@@rleon8339 bc he can
I love her voice its soo amazing!!
She was my favorite Annie.
This performance started a lifetime love of live performance. I was about her age and thought she was incredible!
I love Andrea McArdle.
She is amazing, what a big voice for just a little girl. I believe she is one of the best singers of our time, because she seem so relaxed, and at the same time, she gives us all her power.Thank you for posting this great song.
Always loved her voice and her rendition of this song.
Merv said it best " I could listen to you all day."
WHAT A BIG VOICE THIS YOUNG LADY HAD AT SUCH A YOUNG AGE. I RECALL WATCHING HER PERFORM ON THE TONY AWARDS SINGING THE SAME SONG THE YEAR THE SHOW WAS NOMINATED FOR SEVERAL AWARDS. I WAS A IMMEDIATE FAN UNFORTUNATELY NEVER GOT TO SEE ANNIE ON STAGE.
One word! Great!!!!
I remember seeing her twice on Broadway in this, with Dorothy London and Reid Shelton. She really laid them in the aisles....when she started tomorrow there were grown men everywhere who began crying, I will never forget it.
I heard this amazing voice singing this song in a Kellogg's raisin bran commercial - and WOW!!! I have never heard a more haunting, evoking version.
She's SOO GOOD!!!
The definitive rendition.....!
Damn, she's amazing.
I remember seeing this when it first aired. Andrea was amazing!
This show ran 2,377 performances
Will Broadway ever come back??
Amazing voice.
21 years later she would make a star appearance in Annie (1999)
I had a huge crush on her after this show.
We love this show
Love her.
It’s amazing that they had a 15 year old playing the role of annie on broadway. Now they’re all like 9.
I think she was 13 but playing 11 when the show opened on Broadway. AS I recall, she performed the role on Broadway for about a year.
@@peterjoseph6133 She was 14 1/2 when she left the show. SJP was 14 and left the show when she was 15.
@@snopesshop1903 Interesting. She was (and still is) amazing. Great voice! I heard her sing this song live when she was about 17 and it blew me and the rest of the audience away. Standing ovation, of course. I also saw her in Jerry’s Girls. She sounded great in that, too.
Amazing Andrea always cheers me up. I used to sing this to my beautiful little niece Ondine to great reviews. Hope I can do it again sometime for another beautiful little girl of my own.
she is just awesome
Wow the greatest ever
Wow I remember when that outfit was the style. Straight-up Sonny and Cher.
Huge fan
Her style is so 1978; that could have been me! And I would have loved to have been singing on Broadway, sigh...
Aileen Quinn in the movie was such a chubby-cheeked little munchkin with a huge attitude and a decent voice. But Andrea McArdle was such a pretty girl with a monster voice. That was a voice that was always destined for greatness. It is just sad that Andrea could not parlay such a pretty face and huge voice into a more mainstream success. Sure, Broadway is a very large measure of success, but with a voice for the ages, I am simply amazed that no one in the music industry at that time could find a way to harness it for a star turn on the pop charts. I don't know...maybe its better to have her on Broadway now, still belting out songs, but it feels as if a key opportunity was missed. Now, we will never know "what if..."
maybe she didn't want to do anything mainstream.. not everyone dreams of being famous (I mean she is famous in Broadway though)
Love love love her and her voice since I was a little girl. Thought I was going to be the next Adrea McArdle LOL. :D
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 me too...
I remember this edition of Merv's tv talk/variety show..which was taped before a live audience in Las Vegas..and Ms.McArdle still had her singing chops..as she performed her signature tune"Tomorrow"from "Annie".
Wow.😲:-D.😀
I hade a huge crush on Andrea
Gee that is nice!
I watched the movie and it was great
Yes, it was!!!😍
Go on now..... she can sing..
She is by far the best Annie by far but i am biased...I had a crush on her even though she is 2 years older than me lol
"What a pro!"....
I love it it's so much fun making flash back past life look back at movie made into store story about how much money does Judy Garland she's made into the world and the best way magic of the same time years
Andrea as always sings this song perfectly. I don't know what song the piano player was playing though.
I think yup I'm in love.

*WOW*
came here after listening to Chandler singing it in Friends
I love Andrea McCardle, she was my favorite "Annie", I think I saw her as "Annie" at Radio City Music Hall when I was a kid. She looks better today than she did back then.
There are professional adult performers who can't handle a microphone as well as this fourteen year old.
To bad they waited until 1982 to do a film of Anne.
Yes, but Aileen did a great job.
Stacy Latisaw had a mature voice as well
any with judy garland
Andrea walked so Lilia could run and no one can tell me otherwise
I would have liked to see her and Judy sing this song together, but time is not a fair thing is it?.
Is that an RE-20?
She was the best ANNIE Molly Ring Wald was good as Annie too
I never realized she was annie..I remembered hearing she was in the show when she was younger.
@@littlesongbird1 She wasn't.

Cant believe no ones here referencing deadpool 2?
How they did it? because Annie came out in 1982, the original one. I’m still confusing haha😅
The broadway musical came out in the late 70s. The movie wasn't the original.
Taking care of business gurl!
Could have done without the cocktail hour stylings of the pianist. Schmaltz!
Piano Player sucks, the tempo kept changing and was never right.
This version of “Tomorrow” is pretty good: ruclips.net/video/0Qk0Wjj7clo/видео.html
R U 47 today? uda
This video is so long that's why the screen is dark lol but I like the video ? I just don't think here voice :/ but I really like it I don't wanna be mean ok I dislike the video sorry the screen is canna little dark
Sarah Jessica Parker compares
Andera was great as Annie but not Judy Garland she can act sing but she was more a Annie singer not Judy Garland
It was a bizarre casting and an odd movie. It seemed like they were just trying to promote Mcardle's talent rather than telling Garland's story in any meaningful way. She neither looked nor sounded anything like her.
@@eejaypea I agree she is no JUdy and could not compare to Judy in no way ! She was more of an Annie type of singer nothing like Judy !
She has a great voice, but way too old to play Annie. She is 15 here.
Annie is supposed to be a cute little kid.
People complain that the movie version Annies don’t sing as well.
I think both Aileen Quinn & Alicia Morton were 10 when they filmed Annie.
And they both did awesome!
Its quite a difference between 10 and 15, and for their young ages and for it being their first movies they did great!
I am glad that Andrea has had continued success on Broadway, she has a great voice.
It would be neat to see her perform in person someday
To be fair, she wasn't "playing" Annie in this video. She was just singing the signature song from the show to a live audience on a television show. She had already finished her run on Broadway as well as a a short run in the role when it opened in London.
She was 13 and turned 14 when she played the role on Broadway. She was small for her age and did not seem too old. If you look at the original Broadway cast, those girls were mostly 11-14. In later years the orphans became younger.
you sing it wrong
She was robbed
Technically great but soulless, as a young child would be, not a negative. For an example of similar style and expertise but a lot more feeling, see Karen Carpenter.
She gives me headache
never liked her voice
