3 years and it still works? THATS your standard? Wow. I bought my Black and Decker 34 years ago - it STILL works as well as it did then. Yes - its slighly heavy, however its handle design is far more ergonomic and the blower stem longer, so i can hold it further away from my head should i want to. At the time it was 3 times the price of the model lower down, it was $55 in 1987. i use it three times per week... It also has a temp modulator and a cold trigger on the handle if you need instant cold. I hope Dysons longevity is as good as a Black and Decker!
I’ve only had it for 3 years. How could I possibly compare it to a hairdryer from 1987 😂 I wonder if in 1990 you ever told someone about your B&D hairdryer that you paid 3x the price on and said yes it still works. Get a life!
@@lauren.o.connell There's really no need to show yourself up with childish comments like "Get a life!". thanks for your genuine review! i am doing holiday shopping different this year and just purchased this & the flat iron from best buy with a 20% discount and 18 month zero financing. I saved $180!
Bought this in 2016...enjoy using it everyday till now..I even bring it along during overseas vacations even though hotel rooms provide their own dryer.
I've read reviews that it stopped working after three years or over heating and Dyson not helping them get it fixed since it was past the two year warranty and I've been debating back and forth whether or not to get it
Yup - ive heard the same thing...and I know people that SELL them!! Every other dyson appliance we have bought has been just disappointing and missing basic design flaws. urgh.
Hi, can you tell me if the paint on your hairdryer is peeling off after all this time? Mines 2 yrs old and the pink paint is peeling off, dyson told me it’s wear & tear but it’s only ever placed into its stand when not in my hand being used. I think it’s the heat that’s caused it.
I decided to bite the bullet and order this online today during Sephora's Rouge sale. I hope it works out and is durable as you say it is. I dry my hair everytime I wash it because otherwise it gets so heavy (I have thick wavy hair).
I have v thin, fine hair; bought this dryer and love it. I wasn’t desperate for a cut during lockdowns in the UK. The ends were acceptable, a little dry but I had bleach and colour on my hair so understandable. I find drying quicker even with styling. The weight of it is fine and I get tired v easily as I have a chronic condition. Love this dryer.
Ohhh so glad you love it. Make sure you pull down the part that looks like a grate (under the handle and connecting the cord) from time to time to clean out all the dust. 💖
Thank you so much for sharing your experience and update! I have fine hair and it’s gotten so unhealthy and I’m thinking of the dyson. I think I’ve been thinking about it for years now lol! I kind of know I’m going to pull the trigger already but I so so appreciate your update. I haven’t found alot of them. Great video!
Thank you Gillian. I say absolutely buy it. It’s so worth it and you won’t regret it. The price is crazy, but it’ll last a long time AND you’re hair will be rehabbed. Beautiful, shiny and healthy hair do wonders for a woman’s overall beauty! 💓
Thank you for making an updated video! I read so many reviews and of course, at the beginning, it's great. I just never find info for the dryer after 2-3 years. Most people replace it after 2 years (which is too soon considering the amount of $$ IMO). I've struggled with buying one. We use one in the salon but it irritates my injured shoulder. I find the dryer so heavy, mostly because of that cord! I wish Dyson would deal with he weight issue. As a stylist, I hold the dryer horizontally, rather than using it on myself (vertically). So that weight is significantly different.
Ohh I thought it was quite light. Only because I had bought my salon's dryer initially and it was like holding a few bricks! It's still going strong. Maybe I should make a 4 year video!
I really appreciate this review! Getting ready for the day/bed is my “Me Time” and I want to know I’m making a good investment in equipment I’m gna use and abuse everyday lol
Hi Chris, I am so happy you appreciate it! 😆😆 I dropped my dryer after I finished up recording and thought to myself it was instant karma for calling my mom out! 🤣🤣
Thank you for review. Appreciate your compassion 💗🙏. Btw Sephora has Klarna where you can make payments . Which is the route I think am taking. If you add up costs of treatments, salon visits it adds up. Having a Dyson maybe more practical in the end.
Wow! I just started thinking about getting this today too! I almost did Klarna but decided to use my Sephora credit card instead, I hope to pay this off in the next several months and hope that this is an investment that I will use everyday for the next several years!
I just bought it and wanna test it for the 30 days. I want to hate cos the price is atrocious! But, the drying time for me was like split in half. I have short hair and usually it takes me about 15 mins (give or take), and with this Dyson it was like 5 mins... 👍🏼🙂
As you are an engineer do you know if it’s a better hair dryer than the Parlux Alyon in terms of speed ? Also the Alyon is ionic negative charge. I can’t decide
I ordered mine yesterday, so I’m anxiously waiting for it. I have a very thin hair and I wash it and dry it 365 days a year. I think I”m gone a give it a good use.😍
Hey Lara, I too have really thin hair & I used to wash it daily. Then I discovered the “ordinary “ multi peptide hair serum which allows me to get volume & not feel or look greasy so it helped me to wash less often ..
I second the ordinary peptide serum (along with a sugar free anti inflamitory diet) I used to be reduced to tears with how thin my hair is, and now its fuller, looks not only normal, but actually beautiful as well!
I like to use a serum to keep my flyaways down. My hair is curly so whenever I do it straight the frizz is just dying to spring out 😅 The Kerastase oleo is my favorite.
Loved your video, but air drying your hair is not good for your hair especially if it’s on the dry side. The hair expands when it’s wet, if it stays like that for a long time (while air drying) it can damage your hair further. I’m no expert, but you can google it. It’s always better to dry with a blow dryer and a round brush, if it’s longer :)
except that the supersonic literally never reaches a high enough temperature for the cuticles to get damaged, by design. its meant to damage the hair as minimally as possible
I want some shine in my hair too!! 🙋🏻♀️🤗 I love how this has worked out for you! These are such tough times. I will skip it for now but it’s good to know you recommend it for future reference. I just love your heart ❤️❤️❤️
I bought the Dyson hair dryer for my wife 18 months ago and it's already broken. It was indicating over temperature, so I cleaned the filter then I tried to put the filter cage back on, but the cheap plastic was so warped it wouldn't go on. Dyson doesn't sell this part, so I had to order one on eBay. Once I got it I had to disassemble the whole hair dryer to put it on. Guess what the fricken thing still over heats. Stay away from this expensive cheaply made piece of junk.
As a stylist in a salon, my Dyson broke at the 2 and a half year mark. Many of my co-workers have also had their dryers replaced/repaired as well. Unfortunately, because the warranty is only 2 years, they will not repair (even if I pay for it) or replace the item. For an at home user, this dryer may last a lot longer. For someone using this dryer several times a day, four days a week, I'm sad to say that unfortunately it's not worth the cost.
As a curly girl, it reduced the amount of time by almost halfe, So I'm super happy. But for my wife that used it just for a blow dryer, it didn't make any difference.
