Just awesome. A Caterham is my dream car when I win the lottery - totally impractical for everyday family life, but probably the best driver's car there is. Yep, the top speed is respectable, but nothing to write home about. But that acceleration and road-holding - bugger me, it knocks spots off cars costing ten times the amount. Of course, this is what Caterhams are renowned for, but to see it in action is mind-blowing. Thanks for posting. Oh, and just to add - full respect to the driver - he obviously knows what he's doing, and although he was driving very fast, I never once saw an unsafe overtaking manoeuver. Oh that acceleration, I still can't believe it :-)
Andrew Wheeler Zitat: Oh, and just to add - full respect to the driver - he obviously knows what he's doing, and although he was driving very fast, I never once saw an unsafe overtaking manoeuver.????? ruclips.net/video/eCMXjiN6fsQ/видео.html ruclips.net/video/eCMXjiN6fsQ/видео.html
I just wanted to share that this video made me move to Switzerland a few years ago! I never knew the sort of mountain road Switzerland had, until your videos. After two roadtrips through the country, I finally made the decision to move and I've been here for two years now. Absolutely love it, and this very video was what it all started for me. Thank you!
Literally can't think of a better way to spend a day. Just perfect. Perfect weather, perfect road, perfect views, perfect car. Thanks for sharing this video although it's too short!! (Note to self, music stops at 9:50 👍)
I did this pass on a camping holiday with my mother on a Fiat 600 Multipla over 65 years ago (those where the days); I believe it took us the best part of the morning! Heck of a view on top, but yo missed all that. Great drive in that great car in that great day. Good trip. Thanks
Sh*t Man, that took me back. I used to have a caterham and living in Mallorca. Great mountain passes. I was glued to the screen living your RUclips footage. Pesky slow traffic. Nice one man!
It's hard to see in the video. That's why I asked. I really enjoyed the video. I just stopped breathing and clenched my fists for a moment when I watched that over take :) I felt like something horrible was about to happen.
Steve Rolfe as he said there are large stretches of road that can be seen before going round bends. You can more or less see from the video, actually driving it would be a lot more visible.
Caterhams aren't impractical, they're the perfect device for transporting a body in comfort and safety across Europe, with a big smile. Porsches and Ferraris always underestimate a Caterham. I've driven two from London to Crete via Switzerland to Venice and Greece and this video was total nostalgia-thank you for making it. You just have to do it and ignore everyone telling you that you're crazy. PS Caterhams, with the top and doors off, sound brilliant in tunnels .
No idea if you still monitor your comments on this channel but just wanted to say a really big thank you, this vid kicked me into a long held idea to go buy a Caterham. She isnt as pretty or as modern as yours (1990 supersport xflow engine) but is a ton of fun, wouldnt have done it if I hadnt seen this video thanks again.
Gotta say, your life definitely depend on luck at some points, as much as I love the fun of it. Then again, I really hope you do see ahead further than me through the camera. I've been there once on a motorbike, can't say I'd ride it if I knew you were coming the opposite way.
That's what I was thinking lol like this guy is gambling his life while driving. Looks like a blast, but there were some time I was like "how can he see around that corner, or did he say F$%k it and just roll the dice." Crazy!
@@ex0gen I must admit I didn’t watch the whole video but on some of the overtakes on the corners I saw, you could see far around the corner before you got to the corner, so would still be a safe overtake, but it’s still a horrible feeling overtaking when you can’t see, even if you know nothing is coming
Wonderful video and thanks for taking us on a half hour ride. I am impressed how you can overcome the Porsche! The Caterham looks like an incredible car.
Absolutely beautiful road and scenery, great driving aswell. Im going here in the summer, sadly its in a volvo :) Amazing video! Keep up the great work.
Beautiful driving, Beautiful Caterham, Beautiful sound, Nice passing moves, Beautiful scenery. The only shame is all the traffic. Nice video! Liked and subscribed.
Really a nice video. And mostly, great driving. But overtakings like at 12:00 are soo dangerous! I know this area very well, and there was not a single way you could have known that no traffic was coming along. As a biker, i know how tempting it is to finally ge in front of a slow car. But much too often i have had to swerfe in a split second to give way to a car on MY lane! Stay safe and keep the fun up!
Nice drive and nice video. Thanks for sharing. This car is really amazing powerful. Once I owned a S7 with a normal Ford Zetec 1800cc engine. Nothing to compare.
+Rudolf Aigner you are right. have driven an zetec once.. it is different but those lower powered sevens tend to bring you fun much faster then such a monster with 240 bhp ;)
Looks like a brilliant drive, what Caterham are made for! A word of caution, I was having a discussion with a Swiss police officer last week. If you overtake over a solid white line and are caught, it's an instant CHF 2000 fine (and loss of license for the Swiss). if you can't pay it on the spot and you are not a Swiss national, its jail.
Got as far as 7:39 and the blind overtake was enough for me. I truly love these cars but I cannot see any way to justify that. There could have been anything coming head on.
If you scroll back to 7:32 to 7:36 to where the blind corner and all of the road beyond it is clearly visible you can see that not a soul is coming from the opposite direction. It isn't until he's already started making the second pass that the black Peugeot comes into view, but they're waaaaay up there at the next bend.
wow what a really nice video, beautiful scenery and driving roads, amazing car and yes in the best colour (BRG). some good driving also. i had a Tiger kit car back in 2004 and it was a blast, this Caterham is mega quick and makes you a good driver as you have to hold the steering wheel at 10 / 2 position (like you should in any car) all these kit car videos makes me want to build and drive another one someday. the design of this car might be old but why change something that works so wonderfully. such an iconic car. good driving there mate.
+Johnson968 tell me when you want to work on that list.. i know roads here in switzerland that are just made out of our wettest dreams. have fun with your caterham!
Great driving and awesome car. Its like a big kart in driving plesure. I wish i had money to get my hands on one of those. Greetings and thanks for the "ride".
+Matt Close Hi Matt (again) Thanks for your comment. Glad you enjoyed the drive. It wasn't that illegal, its just looking a bit faster because of the lens, even when this video is not speed up :-)
Great Great Great video. I love this car. Chris Rhea sings about it on his Auberge album. Speaking of music, not to de characterize your video, I'd rather hear just the engine and no music.
A slice of heaven on earth! Great video I´ve driven a wesfield, similar to your Caterham, to all those who said bellow that a gt car would be better... they are SO wrong :) Did you use GoPro? An External Microphone? Great sound quality (no wind buffeting) Keep on these great videos
+Pedro Cação Someone saying a GT is better have never experienced the Caterham Style :) Its a goPro Hero3 black with external microphone behind the passengers seat :) Enjoy you westfield buddy (until you have ever driven a real caterham :P )
Why ? He drives such a small car but is cutting every corner - even with traffic on the other side. Sorry, stay away from the mountain roads or learn how to drive.
This is by far one of the best driving videos on youtube and i am going to put it as one of my goals in life to drive here, the scenery, the roads, the car are just perfect. I envy you sir.
+Pure Roads There´s a little problem i live in argentina but i will be going to italy and germany next year so maybe we can make it happen. Thanks for offering me a ride, keep the videos coming
LIKED... But weren’t you scared to be driving there, like that, in an open topped Caterham? After all... “The Misty Mountains” are known to be full of Orcs and Goblins, you know..... 😉 Joking aside, while the drive WAS thrilling, you miss out on a lot of stunning scenery at such speeds.
That's a shame, cause I am already back to work! I did not drive the Sustenpass, cause the weather was really bad during our time in the Alps. Ended up near lake Garda, great roads as well!
What I would give too have a ride in a Caterham never mind a drive. Awesome. And of course The Prisoner connection, brilliant tv series and brilliant car..........What a dream. Be seeing you.........................................
Great roads. I did the Fluellapass descent in a Caterham SV chasing what we thought was an identical Caterham in the same mustard yellow. My wife filmed with a small tv cam. When we finally met the local driving the other car it turned out to be one of Freddy Cumshick's Audi V8 powered specials. This was at the Swiss Seven clubs summer meet. I may have spelled his name wrong...google just gives a heap of porn references! He was, in 2006, the Swiss Caterham concessionaire and an ex race driver.
Thanks, but what made you think the music actually added anything? Let the car speak for itself. I suppose the only exception is matt Munroe and “On days like these” from the Italian Job.
28:58 that was much more than just pure luck of stupidity. Been at the Susten just yesterday myself: Zero chance you could have predicted what would have come out of nowhere. Apart from that, nice video.
Nice drive and hell of a car. I was in Vitznau last week for Alpine driving. And one point - the 911 we see in the video is a 997.2 and it is not a Turbo. It seems that it is narrow body, hence i guess it is a regular Carrera.
Props for driving without side screens - those defectors look good but are pretty ineffective. Must have been like driving in a wind tunnel. Fun though....
+Tosh iba ya - whish you good luck for that. Driving the caterham, especially on a mountain-pass, is surely one of the purest ways to enjoy those roads
Excellent video and we all envy you. Perhaps if you could place a rear view cam (PIP) so we can see the 'others' how fast they disappear in the distance, that will make the viewing complete.
I've found that when I drive that quickly with the doors off all the air is sucked out of my lungs so I've no idea how you manage this for so long...kudos...
Just awesome. A Caterham is my dream car when I win the lottery - totally impractical for everyday family life, but probably the best driver's car there is. You can see really far before the 2. overtake. And at the first one he just trusted the porsche guy :D
Thomas D look the brand "Donkervoort" up, they make similair cars like caterham does. donkervoort is only ecxpensiver.
Just before 8 mins nice bit of overtaking on a blind corner
I just wanted to share that this video made me move to Switzerland a few years ago! I never knew the sort of mountain road Switzerland had, until your videos.
After two roadtrips through the country, I finally made the decision to move and I've been here for two years now. Absolutely love it, and this very video was what it all started for me. Thank you!
This is like a scene from the old test drive video games. Absolutely amazing and almost meditative. Öusi Päss rocked halt scho ;-)
+muschjohoere und wiä!
AWESOME. I'd love if the music was turned down or gone though. The real music is that engine.
it is turned off after a couple of minutes. whatch the whole video in fullscreen on a good TV ;-)
agreed
Literally can't think of a better way to spend a day. Just perfect. Perfect weather, perfect road, perfect views, perfect car. Thanks for sharing this video although it's too short!!
(Note to self, music stops at 9:50 👍)
you wanna have longer ones?
I could watch this for hours! I wish I could drive those roads, one day soon hopefully! Hope you and the cathetham are doing well😁
I did this pass on a camping holiday with my mother on a Fiat 600 Multipla over 65 years ago (those where the days); I believe it took us the best part of the morning! Heck of a view on top, but yo missed all that. Great drive in that great car in that great day. Good trip. Thanks
That sounds awesome!!!!
The coolest driving video I've seen in a long time! I want a Seven!!
HOW HOW HOW COULD YOU OVERLAY THAT TECHNO MUSIC??!?!?!?!
its not the whole time :-)
Also it’s not techno it’s drum and bass. I liked it 👌🏼
I skipped the first 10 minutes. What an awful sound.
Much better to hear the car!
I thought the music was awesome!
So nice having a Super 7 video without some Limey talking all the time!! Loved it! Thank you!
Sh*t Man, that took me back. I used to have a caterham and living in Mallorca. Great mountain passes. I was glued to the screen living your RUclips footage. Pesky slow traffic. Nice one man!
Great pass at 7:36 How did you know there was no oncoming traffic?
+Jonas Rosenven From on 7:20 you are able to see the whole street. Not addicted to death though ;)
It's hard to see in the video. That's why I asked. I really enjoyed the video. I just stopped breathing and clenched my fists for a moment when I watched that over take :) I felt like something horrible was about to happen.
agreed hahah Jonas Rosenven
He didn’t. By my count, at least 3 totally unacceptable passes. I hope and pray that he doesn’t end up killing anyone.
Steve Rolfe as he said there are large stretches of road that can be seen before going round bends. You can more or less see from the video, actually driving it would be a lot more visible.

thank you my friend
It's a good thing that envy does not hurt... Great car, awesome road. :)
Thanks man. If you ever in switzerland. drop me a line and you can sit next to me. Guess it could hurt then :P
No idea if you still monitor your comments on this channel but just wanted to say a really big thank you, this vid kicked me into a long held idea to go buy a Caterham. holy shit tim. Thank you so much for that statement. trying to be an inspiration
First time I have seen this. Stunning car in BRG but the scenery is just spectacular. Excellent promo video of car and country.
Gotta say, your life definitely depend on luck at some points, as much as I love the fun of it. Then again, I really hope you do see ahead further than me through the camera. I've been there once on a motorbike, can't say I'd ride it if I knew you were coming the opposite way.

Haven't been videos for a few years, not making assumptions.. I hope he is still giving it throttle.
He is alright 🤙🏼
Fuckin superb video, you really captured the joy of driving in this. My heart was pounding for you on the overtakes :)
thanks mate. Glad to hear someone who feels the same :P
Controls on the PROPER side of the car!
this is beauty, this is happiness, this is LIFE
correct! Well explained
The perfect car for a beautiful road! That scenery is awesome, mixed in with the sound of the caterham.. damn, that was half an hour well spent! :D
Really beautiful roads and great taste in music :)
Road yes, music 🤮. The only music you need is that coming from the engine and exhaust!
only one word to describe this drive..............WOW!! That looked like SO much fun.
Wonderful video and thanks for taking us on a half hour ride. I am impressed how you can overcome the Porsche! The Caterham looks like an incredible car.
Glad you enjoyed it! Happy to bring you guys more soon.
Who has ever herd of a Porsche driver who can drive, just a bunch of fools what great driving well done from one Caterham driver to another.
Absolutely beautiful road and scenery, great driving aswell. Im going here in the summer, sadly its in a volvo :)
Amazing video! Keep up the great work.
+JustDan Give me a ping.. i can take you for a quick ride in the caterham :-)
You kick absolute bottom good sir! You rule! Major understatement...
thank you buddy.
Beautiful driving, Beautiful Caterham, Beautiful sound, Nice passing moves, Beautiful scenery. The only shame is all the traffic. Nice video! Liked and subscribed.
And that “music” is the shame too!
its stops after some minutes. so it aint a shame

+Michael Schmutz you are right.
You can see that the road ahead is clear, he has finished the maneuver well before he arrives at the turn.
I stopped watching when he was head on over the line while a motorcycle was passing. Not cool at all.
that sneaky logo on speedmeter :D
i like!
Awesome vid. Best thing I've seen on youtube for a while
+Alex Allen thanks alex
Can't believe I've only found this video just now...AMAZING! 😎👍
+Kenny Bennywennywoo Thanks Kenny!
What a fantastically relaxing video, really well done driving too.
thanks dude, coming up more this year
Nice drive and nice video.
This video is pure bliss!
Great Video, would normally say ditch the music, however, rolling drum & bass combined with the Caterhams engine note + the scenery.. epic
+Alex Guest Thanks Alex! It's not the whole time in the video. :) so i think its fine.
BlueLineSpeed - they are such fun, the Swiss.

it is. never change the seven!
What a road! Now on the to do list.
+Johnson968 tell me when you want to work on that list.. i know roads here in switzerland that are just made out of our wettest dreams. have fun with your caterham!
is it weird that i had this playing in the background just because it sounded so good the whole 32 minutes
Yesss
hahahah! Thanks man
Fantastic! Just watched it all! Time well spent 🤣
Legend my friend. Legend.
Great driving and awesome car. Its like a big kart in driving plesure. I wish i had money to get my hands on one of those. Greetings and thanks for the "ride".
Wow! La Montée est magnifique aux alentours du restaurant Sustenbrüggli. Superbe région!
+Sined78711 merci becoup!
Thank you for this vid!
Now I finally know what I want to do in my life!
come to switzerland and give me a ping before. will take you on a trip
Awesome video and great driving. If I drove like this where I live, (stateside) they would phone me into the police! What a magnificent road too.
+Matt Close Hi Matt (again) Thanks for your comment. Glad you enjoyed the drive. It wasn't that illegal, its just looking a bit faster because of the lens, even when this video is not speed up :-)
nice ride. Don't think I'd have so much patience with the Porsches. but pretty cool still
Great Great Great video. I love this car. Chris Rhea sings about it on his Auberge album. Speaking of music, not to de characterize your video, I'd rather hear just the engine and no music.
it ends after a few minutes ;-) Thanks dude
A slice of heaven on earth! Great video

This is a God send being stuck inside during lock down, great video 👍👍
haha.. yes!
Hell of a road! Great scenery, Wouldn't want to leave the road (but that's true ANYWHERE).
Clever way to cover the speedo.
+snev2 it is not really necessary, the limit is not passed that much.
Definitely in my top 3 roads in the world! Great fun to drive and the views are unreal!
+allyc85 Jup.. and those views are muuuuch better in real
6:09 "How a seven 485 accelerates?" JUST LOVE IT.... bye bye Porsche
Awesome car, driver, scenario and music!!!!!!
Great car, great road, great weather, great driving. Sometimes life is good. Maybe consider getting a full cover roll cage just in case.
+shingnosis Yap.. you are so right. . planning to go on SMRC Cup 6-7 Times that year.. a full cage and full aero would be worth some consideration
Incredible. As in not credible. Was trying to work out if it was fake scenery for parts of it! What an amazing place. Guess I need to take the bike!
hahaha.. i hunt you!
Great scenery, great road, great cars !!! Thanks for this video man !!! ;-)
Ya, that road is really stunning. much better in nature
Incredible scenery!
It looks like you're taking the hobbits to Isengard 2015 style!
Vielen Dank für die schön Fahrt.
Germany
This guy is one of the best road drivers, I’ve ever seen.
Why ? He drives such a small car but is cutting every corner - even with traffic on the other side. Sorry, stay away from the mountain roads or learn how to drive.
Sights and sounds. Excellent.
thanks bryan
Simply breathtaking views :D and topped of by a even better car Caterham FTW
perfect. also always got time for a little liquid dnb
This is by far one of the best driving videos on youtube and i am going to put it as one of my goals in life to drive here, the scenery, the roads, the car are just perfect. I envy you sir.
+martin q wow. thanks mate. give me a ping whenever you are in switzerland. i would be more then happy to take you on a trip :)
+Pure Roads There´s a little problem i live in argentina but i will be going to italy and germany next year so maybe we can make it happen. Thanks for offering me a ride, keep the videos coming
+Jeff H. I think 20k viewers and 80% watched the full length say some different things.. ;)
Best Driving video on RUclips bar non!
LIKED... But weren’t you scared to be driving there, like that, in an open topped Caterham?
After all... “The Misty Mountains” are known to be full of Orcs and Goblins, you know..... 😉
Joking aside, while the drive WAS thrilling, you miss out on a lot of stunning scenery at such speeds.
Thanks. Love that road and a good drive. Not a fan of straight 4 cylinders, but Caterham is the exception. Cheers
Motoring Heaven! Will be driving the passes this summer in my Ibiza FR with Bilstein B12 Pro Kit, nomnomnom!
give me a ping.. we could drive together and i could show you some roads........
That's a shame, cause I am already back to work! I did not drive the Sustenpass, cause the weather was really bad during our time in the Alps. Ended up near lake Garda, great roads as well!
"Oh, I'm sorry, Officer. I thought that posted speed limit was in MILES per hour."
What I would give too have a ride in a Caterham never mind a drive. Awesome. And of course The Prisoner connection, brilliant tv series and brilliant car..........What a dream.
Be seeing you.........................................
Very nice footage, excellent soundtrack!
thanks man. appreciated.
Dude! you are King. Great driving, and I love that car. nice vid. I will watch it again soon.
+Brandon Smisek thanks brandon! more videos will be coming soon
I watched it again. Damn !!! Awesome.
This was at the Swiss Seven clubs summer meet.

we knoe him ver well here
Could watch this all day. Great driving.
thanks. there will be more soon
awesome, best video on youtube, was the 485 before the R500? kept screaming "take the GTR, take the GTR!" loved it!
485 is the newest - sort of a smaller 620r. Same car but without the compressor and the fastest you can get on the street here in switzerland (legal)
Great trip, thanks!! Love these Sevens!!
just the best and purest car, ever. Thanks Colin Chapman
great driving! the scenary is so beautiful just like the PS GT!
:D scenary is so much more stunning in real... thanks man
Stunning scenery and a great road
you are correct. cannot wait till seasons opening 2017
A drive like this is on my bucket list.
Thanks, but what made you think the music actually added anything? Let the car speak for itself. I suppose the only exception is matt Munroe and “On days like these” from the Italian Job.
stops after a while, so....
Absolutely lovely road, and an amazing car to go along.
+Mindlesslemons Ja Man! It isssss!
Was für einen Knopf drückst du immer mal wieder? Find ich ja herrlich, dieses Cockpit. Überhaupt das ganze Auto. Wahnsinn! Schönes Video! :)
Danke! Das ist der Sportauspuff der die gesamten 240 PS freilässt und die Klappe öffnet ;-)
Pure Roads Danke für die Antwort :) ich wünsche weiterhin eine Menge Freude mit diesem Wahnsinnsgefährt!
Looks fantastic fun, the car sounded great on overrun
+David Lyon Thanks david. I do have to work on the microphone handling. It sounds so much better in natural...
I liked how you passed top german brands with ease 👍👍👊
Awesome driving, I'm about to purchase one of these in Australia, can't wait.
+funnelweb10 oh wow. that must be bloody brilliant to drive such a car in australia. ! Make some videos mate! Would love to see them
Just caught your post from 6 years ago and was wondering how your Caterham withstood the rigors of Aussie roads.
Start at 9:50 to avoid the annoying techno crap or whatever racket it is. Thankfully the rest of the clip is the glorious sound from the Caterham.
its a vibe!
Jesus! WHat a beautiful road
Möchte bloß wissen, wie diese Dose auf Rädern den Abgastest schafft. Der rotzt und kotzt in den Auspuff als wäre das so gewollt!
28:58 that was much more than just pure luck of stupidity. Been at the Susten just yesterday myself: Zero chance you could have predicted what would have come out of nowhere. Apart from that, nice video.
you can look ahead my friend and check if someone comes down there. no stupidity here.
Looks like bloody good fun.
Hell-Fu**ing-Yes mate!
British Racing Green, Cycle wings, yup that's the kind id want, I'd probably want the wider body version though
Glad the GTR got caught in traffic or we may never have seen it again!!!
Nice drive and hell of a car. I was in Vitznau last week for Alpine driving. And one point - the 911 we see in the video is a 997.2 and it is not a Turbo. It seems that it is narrow body, hence i guess it is a regular Carrera.
sure about that. i think it really was a turbo
29:00 Yesssssss !!!!!!!
haha
Props for driving without side screens - those defectors look good but are pretty ineffective. Must have been like driving in a wind tunnel. Fun though....
now it doesnt have a front window any more :)
that is awesome, hope i get a caterham and get to do that sometime xD
+Tosh iba ya - whish you good luck for that. Driving the caterham, especially on a mountain-pass, is surely one of the purest ways to enjoy those roads
Excellent Logo placement!
;) Thanks man
Excellent video and we all envy you. Perhaps if you could place a rear view cam (PIP) so we can see the 'others' how fast they disappear in the distance, that will make the viewing complete.
I've found that when I drive that quickly with the doors off all the air is sucked out of my lungs so I've no idea how you manage this for so long...kudos...
the buff is the answer
Que paisajes mas hermosos!! excelente video!!!
El tipo del minuto 10:44 estaba enojado? jaja
thank you for sharing. added this video to my travel list :)
