Thanks for the updates fella. I saw the article on the motorway they are drilling through the mountain, that's a game changer as well. The Portugal nomad visa launches next week, we are going to do that one first and we will apply for the Spanish one when it launches but the Spanish government have taken an awfully long time to get going on it.
In Tenerife now..... your not wrong about the flies. Nice new paving around the marina with cycle path and seating. Looks great.

This happened to me and a friend in Tenerife about 10 years ago. Walking along the front and a guy ran up to us and grabbed my friends shorts at the front and started tugging at them, we didn’t realise till he went to pay for the meal that his wallet was gone, it was clearly a distraction. This is very common and it was well known about by the locals and police when I was there. I had a local guy from the restaurant in Tenerife that we frequented multiple nights take us to the station and interpret for us. The thing that annoyed me the most was that I told him to leave his wallet and just to take cash, he didn’t listen and it happened. It’s made me much more conscious of my surroundings in every aspect and I judge absolutely everyone.
Just because you are on holiday doesn’t mean people aren’t out to ruin it. Be aware.

Hi guys,great update and sorry that your cars were damaged which although nothing was taken it will still cost you money to sort out the damage,its great you try and warn people of the dangers but alot of people just don't listen and think it's never going to happen to them,to also say it doesn't happen in certain other countries is ridiculous as it does it just might not happen to the degree of tenerife,great job andrew🤙👌👍

I moved here a couple of months ago and I’ve been wondering about the flies lately… I thought it was the rain and humidity that we had a couple of weeks ago that set them off… along with greening the landscape… but honestly, have no idea.

Sorry that your vehicle’s were damaged by so scumbag on the rob,perhaps cctv linked up to your phone,i purchased 2 off Amazon & Mrs spends most of the day at work watching what’s going on outside our house ! Really reasonable priced & black Fri is due so they probably be reduced, great vlog,wish you both well 👍🏻

Thanks for the update Andrew and useful info, I never leave valuables of any description in my car either abroad or at home , especially at this time of the year. Pickpockets do increase in November when we normally come over as opposed to other times when we have come. Jackie did have her purse stolen from her back pack type bag a few years ago on the walk from costa Adeje to fanabe , luckily it only contained €10 but the purse was a nice one, so you are right to highlight how to carry your bag and what type of bag etc 👍🏻

We went to Costa Adeje way back in December 2012. We rented a small hatchback car and on our way to spend a day around Mount Teide. We went to park the car in a layby around the volcanic ash scenery to take in the fantastic views. I just remember one other car was parked alongside. My girlfriend left her rucksack on the back seat as we sat on a wall to take in those fantastic views. So the car was never that that far away. I then heard glass breaking. Surely it was my worst fear the rear door glass was smashed and her rucksack gone. Just in a split second as we hurried back the car alongside sped off parked next to ours in a cloud of dust.
They must know that these rental cars are driven by tourists and are easy pickings. Well especially if you can pick a lock on the rental car if it's that easy? Make sure you ask for insurance that covers you for this rather than the standard rental cover. In the event of something like this happening to you would be billed for all that damage to the car. Some are poorly maintained with no air in the tyres. So check the basics oil, water etc. Needless to say the Spanish police didn't seem that interested after we reported it and only took a brief statement and filed it! Luckily my girlfriend only lost some cash but nothing of significant value. Yeah, it ruined our weeks holiday there. Another time whilst there I had my credit card cloned. Luckly the card company knew that I hadn't run up any of those transactions as the card limit had been exceeded a number of times. So you have been warned! But don't let that put you off from enjoying the beautiful Canaries island's. Happy holidays!

thanks Andrew I will pass this info to my parents who are visiting for 5 weeks in January. Can I ask is there a good website to look at for the bus roughs. We were over there last week visiting my sister's new apartment in golf del sur. I know they have the QR codes at the bus stop so you can see the bus times but would be nice to have a bus map in the apartment so you can see which bus's goes were. Also with you comment on the fly's while my sister and dad went for a walk they got chatting to a local and he said the fly's are to do with the banana plants been uncovered and letting the fly's out
That digital nomad would work great! I'd actually love to do that! May have to look into it

I clocked him because I thought it odd to park there and walk quite briskly towards your office when there were parking spaces.

We walked to la caleta and popped into the royal hideaway hotel. Sat at the pool bar and got two glasses of wine..cant remember the price but it was bonkers..even bt temple bar dublin prices at 2am. The waiter obviously agreed and filled us two full glasses to the rim for free just as we finished the first! Lovely hotel but remorgtage the house before u go 🤣

Been twice, on my second visit my rental car was towed away by police despite being parked in proper parking bay outside our rented apartment, a local told me it's a nice little earner for the police who target tourists, then they charged me several hundred euros to release the car from the pound. I will add this happened quite a few years ago but it left a bitter taste and I never went back to the island.
Very informative vlog. Many thanks to you Andrew. Really good to hear your updates. The hotel in Puerto de la Cruz that is one of the top 3 hotels you mentioned has a Michael Jackson suite.

Came home from Tenerife on Saturday. Flies horrendous. Ended up at a doctor with an infected bite on my foot and on antibiotics for a week. Sure it was to do with a fly as never usually have problems.

Just got back from 10 days there, 2 blokes got pick pocketed around our hotel. So be extra vigilant. So sad it happens but its no different to any other tourist destination abroad .

I was born in Tenerife in1938 and grew up in the island. In the 40s were only, 2 or 3 hotels in el Puerto de la Cruz. I moved to Texas and I've lived here for 50 years with
many trips to Spain and one to London; by the way the weather in London was sunny and a kept walking around Piccadilly Circus and even visited the house of
an infamous London's serial killer for curiosity: "Jack the Ripper"
I didn't know that in Tenerife were so many pickpockets. Mi wife and I were victims of them in a Fuengirola beach, since we left the car on top of a hill and went down to the beach, they got us!!! We found out, when we came back from the beach, that the rats has taking several things. That's type of robberies, unfortunately are very frcuent.

We were last week and noticed that were alot of flys this time.
As i always learned , dont carry anything you cant afford to loose. Dont put things as Well phone, iPad , in the Car and closed bags , wich Other persons may Think contain valuables . Nobody wants to steal a towel or a cheap beacbag, but if you wear expensive Watch, jewellery you may have an expensive phone too, dont “ show off “ expensive stuff

I was delighted to see the Botanico on this list. I absolutely love staying there as it´s truly exceptional! This report could not paint the Spanish police in a worse light though with them doing nothing about thieves yet persecuting people that are parked slightly wrongly. Shame on them! As for this nomad visa it´s hard to think of anything more dishonest! Let´s not forget Spain suggested Britons would not even be able to holiday there after Brexit until their bluff was called...

Sounds like it might be worth leaving the car unlocked? That's advice here in Hawaii for out of the way but touristy places as theft is for same reasons, whats in the car not the car. As it happens i have a week booked in Tenerife in Jan which i will probably have to cancel for family reasons but will bear this in mind for next time.
