Didn't realize how close Gran Canaria was to Africa- had to go look it up on a map- really cool! That hotel looks really nice, especially that infinity pool on the roof- love it! Good tip on renting a car- it's always so much easier to be able to travel at your own pace.
We agree with you regarding not staying in a resort, which is so common there. I (Marion) know when I was a kid, and I went with my parents to Gran Canaria that we stayed in a resort. Don't have a lot of memories from the resort at all, but lots of memories from the day they decided to rent a car and explore places off the beaten path. The hotel you guys stayed in was so beautiful! Body language is definitely the best language! We will definitely go snorkelling when we visit Gran Canaria but no cactus picking!
also do not buy any tech or expensive clothing, many of these shops in Gran Canaria have fake items. Although there are places where it’s real, those places are easy to spot. If a story seems shady tho, it’s most likely fake stuff
I never bought tech on my holiday, except in Tokyo and in Africa once when my phone broke down. But good tip for others in case they would like to do that
Enjoy your trip, you will have a great time. Don't forget to check the other videos to get some further inspiration. Especially the drive around the west coast but also the mountains inland are worth visiting.
Interesting video.i agree hire a jeep and explore there are some beautiful areas of GRAN CANARIA I have stayed at HOTEL SANTA CATALINA featured here..A journey back in time pre air travel when Las Palmas was a popular destination en route to other countries by ocean liner. Of course if your quite content staying in PLAYA DEL INGLES and visiting YUMBO CENTRE that says more about you than GRAN CANARIA
We are all for the upgraded hotel room! Saving money is not always the most important thing if it lessens your experience!. I love having the freedom of a car rental as well.
Fun fact, surprisingly many sales people in Maspalomas area speak fluent finnish 😂 Great advices. Should've seen this before I came back from Gran Canaria. This video is under appreciated. 🤔
@@Svenywhere only possible reason is that there has been pretty strong presence of finnish people in Gran Canarias since 1980s. As tourists and people have moved there part time or permanently (speculation).
True. But for this price. You will just explore so much more and buses aren't going everywhere on the island, so I still think it is worth it. Also for solo travelers
Cuanto cuesta ESO = how much is THAT (thing you are pointing at a distance) Cuanto cuesta ESTO = how much is THIS (thing you are able to touch if you want)
I do appreciate this video but I had a great time staying in a budget 30 euro hotel and using the buses instead of renting a car. The buses are such good value and I think had air con - at least they didn't seem as hot as you'd expect on board. I would not stay in a resort town like Puerto Rico though as you miss out on the culture and the shop owners are quite harassing!
Yeah I normally prefer the local vibe by using public transport as well. But because the island is so small my main reason to recommend renting a car is because it gives you so much flexibility back on a trip like this. Especially if you just want to visit some random towns and do a bit of hiking.
Gran canaria 🤔😲😉don't you just love the sand dunes 😲🤔sun sea and sand what more do you won't well gran canaria is the place car rental from 25 euros a day as of last week
I agree. Sometimes it’s nice to spend money on really nice hotel especially when this year has been terrible. That is great to know about the beaches to stay safe from jellyfish and strong waters.
I'm coming to gran canaria in one week :) I won't be a tourist so much, I'm just gonna stay in Las Palmas to study in the morning and go windsurfing/ exploring in the afternoon. Do you think a rental car would make sense even for 3-4 weeks? (Can you even park for free in Las Palmas?)
Las Palmas is paid parking. If you are there for so long you might want to stick with public transport and travel slow and only rent a car for a couple of days. Pretty sure you will have an amazing time. I am already jealous of you.
Great tips there, man! And I just noticed you have gained 1k subs. Big congratulations! So now you can travel and earn some bucks from RUclips, right? Talking about the video, I have never been to this place and even in the future. But I think it's really useful for those who love to pay this place a visit.

The question is how do you get the cactus fruit even of the cactus. But in terms of the review, sorry to disappoint you on that one. This video wasn't meant to be a full review of the hotel. But if you think this would be of value I could provide an in-depth review of this.
