Carl - goddamn i love this. I'm 50, I met patton at an FNM instore when they played Tucson, az in 1990. OBV i knew that bungle was something "else" but had no idea what it sounded like. I (along with another fella ) asked him for information on how to get a shirt and demo. He have me a phone number and that was it. He and the fellow band members were allowed to get a few store items - patton picked up - foetus, and a movie (maybe an adult title). Anyway the phone number was trevor's home. I talked briefly with his sister (who disparaged her brothers band) - then trevor - who gave me an address to send a SASE.I did got a flyer with prices etc. I purchased a tshirt / 2 demos and sticker. (demos - goddammit i love america and 0U818). They were clearly my gateway to more challenging interesting music.

That is a great story! I like the part about his sister disparaging. Fun detail.

@@CarlKingdom she I believe is my age - a few years younger than trevor (i was 16). and she totally disparaged them "oh you like my brother's gay ass band?" I think My response was - "I think so i haven't heard em yet?" oh and side note: the boingo influence on Goddammit i love america is oh sooo strong. which i was a huge fan of at the time.

Mr. Bungle should make a documentary about you.

The dissonant intevals are actually part of the harmonics (overtone) series of a note, if you play the harmonics of an open C string on a guitar by touching your finger on the string, you will get C2 G2 C3 E3 G3 Bb3 for example. I know C is not a regular tuning but an open C string makes the example clear. When you play a note on an instrument, you hear that note with all its overtones in decreasing amplitudes. C and Bb sound dissonant together but when Bb is played on an upper octave they don't sound dissonant. Similar thing with the tritone interval, here E3 and Bb3 are a tritone apart but when you combine it with C in the root, it is the dominant 7 chord which has both the dissonant major second and dissonant tritone intervals, but this chord does not sound dissonant at all.

I didn’t know about the Ma Meeska thing but there are a couple SC3 tunes that are uncredited Astronauts covers and some other bits that to be fair are traditional melodies.
    Enjoyed this. Thank you

@@CarlKingdom It was a joke (in your hypothetical, Bungle would only give you that access and control if they were going to mercilessly fuck with you). But after seeing your recent videos regarding neurodivergence and such, my apologies. It was only meant in jest. 🤙🏼
You know, I bet you could get Bär (and maybe Danny?) on the show, now that Danny has joined Umlaut, and the fact that Bär is one of the friendliest, most enthusiastic humans on the planet, and very much comes from the Trevor-part of the core Bungle triumvirate, but with a greater affinity for making more poppy, "listenable" kind of music, too.

@@arsmor1end1 No apologies needed! I thought your suggested title was appropriate. It reminded me of "Uncooked Meat Prior To State Vector Collapse." I message with Bar here and there, and I have a written interview with him on my website. He is a nice guy!

What you're proposing is the equivalent of locking a glorious, beautiful eagle inside a tiny cage...
Why don't you create a new Mr. Bungle record yourself? You can play guitar and bass, then track down Bär and Danny and offer them to join the project (Theo might be unavailable). After that, all you need is a Mike Patton soundalike (I'm sure there's plenty) and you're all set. Don't forget to create a documentary of the entire process.

    • @CarlKingdom

They definitely did some collaborating / co-writing / improving on each others ideas. Before they all went off on their own. But it would raise the stakes to see them collaborate on camera.
