Hey everyone! The Trailmakers gods have blessed us with a new UPDATE, EXPANSION, DLC, WHATEVER you want to call it...and it's amazing! In this awesome new update we get a large new map, four NEW unique islands, 100+ hidden treasures to collect, secret locations to uncover, stormy weather with PROPER physics, sails, new seat, and much MORE! In this episode I set out to build a really cool vehicle that was engineered in the late 1930s, the Antarctic Snow Cruiser! This absolute unit of a land vehicle was designed to traverse the Antarctic, and although it ran into issues I still consider it an awesome accomplishment and a huge inspiration for today's build! This is an amazing idea, I went on a deep dive researching this thing not too long ago, and thank you for putting in the research for this video

Do research the Arctic Land Train, too. That one is quite interesting idea, too! It could actually be used for a trucker to carry a truck-train with 3-4 times more trailers than previously possible.
One of the best vehicles for Antarctic travel was surprisingly a stock VW Beetle in all its air cooled glory.

Kosmo, i challange you to build a multi-part viechle, the principle is easy to understand, a viechle made of many creations, connected by tractor beams or anchor blocks. A cool thing about something like that is that complexity is no longer a problem.
Sure you can use the mod to bump up the complexity. It just gives you more room for creativity 😁

First heard of this vehicle in Clive Cussler's book Atlantis Found and now Kosmo has remade it in a game 😅
You should try to make a russian ekranoplan. you could use hoverpads and wings in combination. if you don't know what an ekranoplan is, it basically is a plane that doesn't fly. if floats just a few meters above the water using the ground effect to stay in the air which makes it really efficient, but most importantly it flies above sonar and below radar. the soviet union had big plans to build a huge "seamonster" but things took a turn when they found out the vehicle couldn't operate in anything but sunny weather and its agility being close to none made it hard to avoid intercepting ships.
Looks nice. Maybe try making the Lockheed flatbed next.

the project when a trail makers player makes it: oh yea I float on water now and can actually make it to the arctic on my own and have better.

Idea: make a vehicle that serves as many uses as possible, so it could be a sub, plane etc etc all rolled into one
i've seen a vid about it the reason it was SO bad was because it got rushed out so it never got it tested until it was sent out on the expedition which include the road tip to the port which is were it got stuck ion the 'river' XD

Man you should try Brick Rigs, you would have a blast! the only limit is your PC, I've seen creations with 10,000 bricks + run fine lol.

It’s f’d up that I tried making this as well, sorta just gave up cause I reached the 700 Complexity Limit, and just left it in a sort of Silhouette of the thing. Plane isn’t really functional but I did what I could. If anything it’s a moving helipad
I built this before in trailmakers but it dident hold a plane in stead it held a big sled for polar exploration

The Russians built a vehicle that fallowed the same priceable called the Kharovchanka the was actually successful.
Thinking the Russians have it is American ego. Russians know how to deal with antarctic terrain and that thing did not perform. Spending money to move it from antarctica would've been the last thing on their agenda lol. It was a great idea on paper back then, but thinking the russians would have it now does not make sense. They had the technology to make the individual components and drive-train on a seperate chassis with different wheels. Taking an excisting vehicle and modifying it would probably be more expensive then start all over.
(kinda like the scene in the movie Tenet where it was cheaper to crash a plane into a hangar than to replicate it in miniature)

Its truly unfortunate that Trailmakers can't really deal with vehicle interiors. So much build potential squandered by having the character eject fully from the vehicle when exiting the seat.

Instead of propulsion from underwater fans use the plane propllers to drive yourself forward like a hovercraft
How funny is it that in attempting to recreate a real life vehicle known for being overweight and underpowered in a game and it ends up being overweight and hard to manage in game too.

They say the portion of Ice the Cruiser was in broke and went floating away, which I think is more likely than the Russians having it.

Antarctic Snow Cruiser? Wait until you find out about the Arctic Land Train. *THAT* would be interesting to see in Scrap Mechanic! It's only fault was that there weren't enough spare parts, or it could have turned mainstream for more than just moving cargo in the arctic regions to use for building radar bases.

U could exterminate that wobble by doubling the Pistons, had the Same Problem with a heavy vehicle
You could just use armor plates instead of normal blocks. Then you could add more details and features to it. Could you make a part 2?

I tried to build this in scrap mechanic, but it sucked, luckily the real thing sucked too, so not my fault

the thrill of the unknown. The age of expeditions and exploration drove so many different innovations but we live in a time now where we can go almost anywhere in reasonable to complete comfort. If not we can just look somewhere up as someone else has been there already so we can just look at their pictures or videos without ever leaving our houses.
It's tragic really and it makes me pine for a time I didn't even live in.
