I was against the missile systems in Philippines too but since the CCP dislikes it then maybe it should stay. They’ve expanded their territorial claims over the last 14 years and built military islands. They reject the accusations that they’re using force and intimidation to settle the dispute (even though there’s plenty of evidence for it), the fact that they hate seeing Philippines with missile systems tells me that they’ve always planned to use their “might make right” foreign policy in the South China Sea disputes, their so called ‘historical claim’ is just a crutch/tool to try and justify that policy. They don’t want to see Philippines modernise its defence capabilities so they can keep claiming its reefs and islands.
The CCP doesn't want the Philippines to be able to properly defend it's self look at there history over thousands of years old America it's self is only 248 years old they can say we done are good and bad things but we can say we haven't done as much bad things as china has over the course of a thousands of years 😊

If China manages to control those Philippine Spratly features and build artificial islands for its military bases, its next target are those Spratly territories of Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei, etc... So China's side are worried to that of the US missiles but then again China seized control and built an artificial islands. Worst is that it is for military use with an airstrip and a hangar for their fighter jets and the deployment of their missiles. So better if the missile remains to counter China. Unfortunately the US missile will likely be a concern for the Russians. So it is best if the missiles are indeed a medium range. Better if the Philippines will acquire some of them for coastal defense.
