The Dutch Scott the Woz, basically! Loved the vid. Shining light on a part of the gaming industry otherwise often uncovered by YT personalities. Big ups and keep up the good work!
We need to stop over emphasizing single race results. There have been races were most of the chasing pack including AM have looked really good. Unless they can reproduce it consistently there's not much to show for it.
What made it possible was how poor Mercedes & Ferrari were creating a gap for the 3rd fastest team despite them being 4-5 tenths per lap behind McLaren.
Basically my understanding about Aston Martin f1 performance issues is, first the base of Aston martin is a good car, but it had more drag that it suffered in high speed tracks due to aero efficiency, now they bought upgrades to rectify it but it only made the rear unstable thus making the car difficult to drive, see a baseline car will not loose its performance just like that, now with the simulation data error they could not come to what is doing what?, so in the end a mis match of upgrades tells us that since the base is good they could recover some performance, so I would not be surpriced if they make a comeback next season.
Hrm, what if we took this, and made everyone do all the aero work on track? No wind tunnels and minimal cfd. Could be interesting. Could be a nightmare.
By now I‘m sure that except RB, no other team has the slightest clue about why their car does and doesn’t work on certain tracks. Nobody knows why they’re fast or slow and also doesn’t know what causes it and how to fix it. It’s all completely random.
So glad this thread wasn’t full of the usual nonsense about Stroll. Given he out-qualified Alonso and only finished 2 places behind him after they both had shocking starts, I guess it would be hard for justify the usual (prejudiced) comments. Of course, there are a few people who cannot help themselves. I think it’s unlikely that Las Vegas is going to tell us much about anything given the predicted temperatures so it might be difficult to know if this is a turn-around. Given McLaren’s step-change in performance, it could be that there’s just some very critical factors that turn a dog of a car into a potential podium.
The point is all these videos about why Merc sucked and why AM did well are all quite useless. It's just coming down to who got their setup right and who didn't.
I didn’t think Alonso was all that special, until recently. Watching him beat someone in a car thats 1/2 a second a lap quicker than the rest of the field is pretty impressive.
Definitely better than what we have seen recently, but lets not kid ourselves. In the video they said that this result was not because of rivals misfiring but that's exactly what they did. Leclerc didn't start, piastri's race was ruined, the Mercedes were way off pace, and norris was second. The only people they beat on merit from the other top teams were carlos sainz, the 2 Mercedes on a weekend where they were slower than even alpine and kind of sergio perez (but he started far down and would have beat alonso given just a bit more time). This is nowhere near the overnight turnaround that you are positioning it to be. They could have finally figured it out, but I doubt it. I think they'll go back to struggling just like they have been.
Why was McLaren shown as best race pace? It was 2nd/10 secs back and it wasn’t based on fastest race laps as AT would’ve been 3rd on the graph w/DR having 3rd fastest lap.
Alonso vs Perez and Ayumu vs Shioriko definitely is the main highlight of the Brazilian GP. Hope AMRF1 can dethrone Mercedes in fight for P2 in constructors championship.
It's so disappointing that all these talking heads on YT after one good result always start talking about turnarounds. There has only been one turnaround, that of McLaren. The rest is struggling to get on top of these ground effect cars since the start of the 2022 season. Sometimes it looks promising but never a sustained improvement!
I have to admit that I really fell out of love with Alonso after the double dealing crash on purpose in Singapore all those years ago…. BUT even I now root for him as he has driven brilliantly and shown real class at Aston 👍👍
All of this is pointless when Redbull can win every race. FIA needs to do similar to after the 2020 season and debut a technical regulation right before the season starts just to effect downforce for the front running car
McLaren had the fastest car in Brazil. Go look at the graph at 1:09. Ferrari has been the fastest car on the grid at certain tracks. They have to beat Max Verstappen, and the pit wall. Max may be better at managing tyre deg than any other driver on the grid right now, and Hannah Schmitz rarely (if ever) makes a mistake. The TD for 2021 was for safety reasons due to teams experiencing unexpected blowouts. Delaying the start of the aero era by one year meant the tyre compounds were one year past their design parameters. A planned new 2020 spec developed by Pirelli was abandoned after a vote by the teams, and the pandemic pushed back the introduction of 18-inch wheels and new compounds to 2022. The FIA had already ruled that the rear of the floor would be altered to strip away some downforce and car performance, and further analysis of how much load was being put through the tyres prompted the FIA to take further action as a precaution. It had nothing to do with Mercedes winning. Mercedes was lucky to be able to run for an additional year under the old rules. Without the pandemic, the aero era would have begun in 2021, and Mercedes wouldn't have that additional constructor's title.
@@vandalsgarage So many holes in your reply. Let's stick with the facts. Adrian Newey Designed a car that doesn't light up the tires. Which is why Max and Checo Dont always Qualify with the best times. So your argument of max verstappen being the best tire manager is ridiculous.. the cars inherent design is to save tires. This is what gives the RB a higher threshold to lap faster more consistently! Tire management and Aero efficiency/DRS! Your mentioning that the TD was because of teams having blowouts.... Well it didn't work because 2 teams had blowouts at Baku in 2021 and Pirelli countered with a thicker Sidewall and strict tire pressure monitoring. I'm aware the FIA told the public it was to stop blowouts. But the actual fix was Pirelli making a thicker tire! Remember 2021 was the FIRST Cost cap season. How does Mercedes go from the fastest F1 car ever in 2020. To a Car with fewer Poles and Wins than RB. All within the same regulation rules of the previous season???? How does RB Make a Huge Leap to compete with MB in a Cost Cap Season? By the FIA dropping a regulation before the season starts that effects low rake cars. Look at where Racing Point (Mercedes clone) finished in2020 vs 2021(As Aston Martin) went from 4th to 7th in one season! Scoring over 120 more points in the previous season. The high rake cars went up RB and Ferrari!
@@vandalsgarage I think you are missing the point a bit. Don't look at a single lap pace that means very little if anything, especially at tracks that are relatively easy to pass on. (not monaco, or singapore). Ferr have gotten numerous poles, I think Leclerc is up to 12 or 13 poles consecutively that he did NOT win the race! That tells us something. The Ferrari eats its tires to get those lap times. When longevity is called for (the race) there is literally not competition for RB. McLaren are keeping Max in sight, but I'm not sure Max is doing anything more than he absolutely has to to maintain a gap. It has been a masterclass all season for Max, driving no faster than he needed to. It wouldn't shock me to learn Max/RB have about.5sec/lap they could pull out of their car if they needed to. Hungary was fascinating in this regard. After the final stop Max came out and laid down just a ridiculous time that nobody was going to touch. Then he settled back into a "comfortable" pace and cruised to victory. I think he's been driving at 90-95% all season, which is scary to think about.
So we’re just going to ignore their poor Saturday performance at the same track you’re using as a way to hype them up? Or just seems like their R&D team takes longer than the other teams to go from drawing board to physical parts. They were among the top teams until everyone started bringing updates.
It wasn't even mentioned, but it seemed more of a case of bad luck in the Sprint Shootout leaving them out of place starting from the back of the grid. Both cars moved forward during the sprint race and definitely looked out of place at the back. I suspect had the sprint been a full race instead, the Astons would have been in the points despite coming from the back of the grid. So while disappointing and not mentioned in the video, their race pace in the sprint further supported the performance of the rest of the weekend rather than detracting from it.
Maybe it was just a track-related fluke (and Lance being "right up there" makes this all the more probable ;). I, for one, am not ready to buy into the renewed Aston Martin hype just yet... let's wait and see what happens in Vegas and Abu Dhabi, shall we? 😉 Everyone seems to link Sauber's "fall from grace" (P6 last season) to their "transitioning" to Audi factory team... AMR is in the same "transition" to Honda factory team. Falling out with your engine supplier? There's always a price to pay.
I haven't heard anyone linking Sauber's fall from grace to the transition to audi factory. If anything, the fact that they scored a single point in monza last year over a 10-race span is pretty telling as of how bad they would be this year. The solely reason they finished 6 was because they had a good ferrari engine at the start of the season while AMR had a banana car during the same time.
@@jkliao6486 Well, Sauber talks with Audi were reported since the summer of '22. (Oh, and the Ferrari engine is still at the very "top of the pile" in terms of power output, same as last year, "engine freeze", remember?). Losing an engine customer is always a big deal, worth $150-200m, if not more. Always have implications... breakdown of trust, sharing of information reduced to the bare minimum, no more "little favours" to be had, getting everything in place for the new partnership, doesn't happen overnight and is surely taking resources away from current operations. And we all know what a "sh*t show" Red Bull had to endure after the return of Renault F1 (as factory team) in 2016 in the dying years of their partnership. I believe, it was LawVS (aka MasakoX) elaborating on Audi/Sauber recently.
@@cayden2744 Well, I don't have all that high hopes for them until '26. Wouldn't mind to be proven wrong but there's still that bit of "weirdness" surrounding that team. Father 'n son, in the process of changing engine suppliers... who knows? Guess, we'll have to wait and see. ;) (Not that it's a bad thing per se, since the Merc engine is only a "shadow of its former self". Wonder how much truth there is to the rumours about McLaren and Toyota?) I mean, Lawrence has surely done well for himself, considering he snatched up Force India for only £100m incl. debt settlements. He can always "take a hike", knowing that he's made a "pretty penny", laughing all the way to the bank. 😀

Their turn around is quite astonishing the last few races. Might be the most impressive thing I've since outside of the 2023 McLaren turn around. Its so rare that a team can go from back of the pack to even mid-field, let alone top5-6.
Gotta feel bad to be Mercedes right now. Not only being beat by 2 customer teams but absolutely slaughtered by them. I'd argue Albon would have had better pace too if not for his start.
I don’t wanna get carried away, I believe the track had a lot to do with the Aston doing so well. i.e. Look where Stroll was compared to the rest of the season.
Aston has a draggy package. It only performed in brazil due to the high downforce spec. In Vegas, aston will be absolutely nowhere. In Abu Dhabi, they will be in the p10-p6 range. I don't see any real improvement taking place, only good luck and a track specific advantage. their competitors were also notably in a slump. This video totally missed the mark.
RUclips F1 channels have informed me that he had signed a contract w/ RB before Brazil, but now he ripped up the contract and will stay with AM. But those channels also inform me that if they have a bad race in Vegas, Alonso will sign another contract with RB.

Aston were quick at the end of last year and when you compare stroll it’s not hard to believe they could’ve got podiums at the end of last year had Alonso been driving. I don't get this pathetic narrative that Alonso got lucky because Mercedes and Ferrari had an off day. Absolutely pathetic excuse. Alonso was P3 on pure merit. Stroll was P5 on pure merit. Doesn't matter who finished and who didn't finish. They would have remained in them positions.
@@zed9617 I have to wonder about Piastri. Clearly the McLaren is the 2nd best car on the grid and it isn't close to 3rd.
The Dutch Scott the Woz, basically! Loved the vid. Shining light on a part of the gaming industry otherwise often uncovered by YT personalities. Big ups and keep up the good work!
Fernando Alonso is the X-Factor
I'm very happy AM refound their excitement about their car and are back on the right track.
When the team does what Fernando wants, they do well. When they do what the bosses want, they struggle. He just cant say it out loud.
They're back but not where they started
The podium at Interlagos like Zandvoort was mostly Alonso
I hope the team realises that
I wish they had nabbed P2 in the WCC rather than Merc 😭
You can blame Stroll for that. He should have had at least 50 more points. He was AWOL for most of the season
Blame the daddy boy
@@Sum_Ting_WongEven with a better performance from Stroll, Aston's tumble post-Canada was quite big.
Hrm, what if we took this, and made everyone do all the aero work on track? No wind tunnels and minimal cfd. Could be interesting. Could be a nightmare.
I just can’t get over Mike Krack
Even so, Aston Martins Turn around this season has been a huge turn around!
By now I‘m sure that except RB, no other team has the slightest clue about why their car does and doesn’t work on certain tracks. Nobody knows why they’re fast or slow and also doesn’t know what causes it and how to fix it. It’s all completely random.
I'd add Mclaren to that RB side, they seem to have a decent understanding.
@@jkliao6486 I agree
I find the care with which everyone pronounces Mr. Krack's name hilarious.
5 sets of ads in a 9:37 video. Every 90 seconds now? This is the last video I watch on RUclips...I'm done.
I didn’t think we’d see Aston near the front again this season
Alonso with more competitive car will be exciting to watch
The point is all these videos about why Merc sucked and why AM did well are all quite useless. It's just coming down to who got their setup right and who didn't.
So reactionary if they finish off the podium in the next race does that mean they have made progress ?
I didn’t think Alonso was all that special, until recently. Watching him beat someone in a car thats 1/2 a second a lap quicker than the rest of the field is pretty impressive.
The title is clickbaity AF.
Sometimes too much testing is a huge disadvantage. RB had half of the testing and hád to get it right, no fooling around.
Very happy for Alonso cause wow it was Sad.
Honestly, I think Alonso just made the case for bringing back "old" F1 drivers out of retirement.
yeah, its always the same - one team has a good race and they are written as the next top team, one team has a bad race and they have a crisis....
Why was McLaren shown as best race pace? It was 2nd/10 secs back and it wasn’t based on fastest race laps as AT would’ve been 3rd on the graph w/DR having 3rd fastest lap.
Astin Martin out here doing what Mercedes has too much pride to do 🥲🥲
"turnaround"? It was one race.
These weekends are r&d. Didn't expect to be up there early season and sandbagged for data collection. 2024 will be on the mark from the start I bet.
Alonso vs Perez and Ayumu vs Shioriko definitely is the main highlight of the Brazilian GP. Hope AMRF1 can dethrone Mercedes in fight for P2 in constructors championship.
Look up relentless in the dictionary. You'll see Alonso's portrait.
I definitely prefer these kinds of videos over the Zoom calls.
Think it's a safe bet red bull wiĺ be on top again next year but I'd love to see Aston and.mclaren fighting for 2nd and 3rd
Sounds soothing😉✌️🚀😎
Red Bull now has one more reason to replace Perez
No chapters?
Should be fixed now!
Maybe it was just a track-related fluke (and Lance being "right up there" makes this all the more probable ;). I, for one, am not ready to buy into the renewed Aston Martin hype just yet... let's wait and see what happens in Vegas and Abu Dhabi, shall we? 😉
Everyone seems to link Sauber's "fall from grace" (P6 last season) to their "transitioning" to Audi factory team...

Idk, AM issue was mostly drag and Brazil definitely isn't *highly* suitable for them in that regard.
@@cayden2744 Well, I don't have all that high hopes for them until '26. Wouldn't mind to be proven wrong but there's still that bit of "weirdness" surrounding that team. Father 'n son, in the process of changing engine suppliers... who knows? Guess, we'll have to wait and see. ;)
(Not that it's a bad thing per se, since the Merc engine is only a "shadow of its former self". Wonder how much truth there is to the rumours about McLaren and Toyota?)
I mean, Lawrence has surely done well for himself, considering he snatched up Force India for only £100m incl. debt settlements.

They simply went back to their original spec car and floor and it’s simply a better balanced product. End of Video!

2023 season is all about Alonso
Gotta feel bad to be Mercedes right now. Not only being beat by 2 customer teams but absolutely slaughtered by them. I'd argue Albon would have had better pace too if not for his start.
Don't jinx it pls
They shit on checo constantly. No praise now?
I don’t wanna get carried away, I believe the track had a lot to do with the Aston doing so well. i.e. Look where Stroll was compared to the rest of the season.
One good race in 10 and apparently they're back🤔 clickbait or ...
Id sell everyone for just 1 Alonso win
Aston has a draggy package. It only performed in brazil due to the high downforce spec. In Vegas, aston will be absolutely nowhere. In Abu Dhabi, they will be in the p10-p6 range. I don't see any real improvement taking place, only good luck and a track specific advantage. their competitors were also notably in a slump. This video totally missed the mark.
Brazil was obviously a fluke, likely due to the sprint format.
This also puts to rest all the people saying it was due to the new technical directive. They should be P2 or at least P3, but Stroll…
So Alonso is no longer going to Redbull???
never was
Of course he won't.
RUclips F1 channels have informed me that he had signed a contract w/ RB before Brazil, but now he ripped up the contract and will stay with AM. But those channels also inform me that if they have a bad race in Vegas, Alonso will sign another contract with RB.

I do wonder how much of this Aston performance is down to Alonso. Aston were quick at the end of last year and when you compare stroll it’s not hard to believe they could’ve got podiums at the end of last year had Alonso been driving. Similar to them in 2020 as RP, a top tier driver like Alonso would’ve stolen many more podiums that year than they actually did.
Aston Martin wouldn’t have got podiums last year. They had a better driver.
If Vettel was driving this season they’d have won at Monaco.
When you take Stroll as a reference, Alonso is faster than Vettel.
@@segoiii when you take Ocon as a reference. Perez, Ricciardo, Gasly are faster than Alonso.
@@paperplane-db8qf no, because Ocon never really beat Alonso. Ocon was most of the time slower and only won by points in the last Alpine year because of Alonsos many technical DNFs. You haters seem to have brain issues to get that simple fact.
Vettel was sometimes beat by Stroll in the race. This doesn't happen to Alonso.
@@paperplane-db8qf 😂😂 that made me laugh. Even back in the early 2010s it was common knowledge Alonso had an edge on Vettel, especially in 2010 and 2012 where he challenged for the title in a much slower car (especially 2012). Ferrari mechanics said when Vettel joined that they realised he was missing a bit vs Alonso. (There’s articles on this) Many people believe if Alonso would’ve been in the2017/18 Ferrari Lewis would be a 6 time champion
Had 1 good race after weeks of being ass calm down y'all.
They went back to the clone Red Bull because they had no clue how to advance and upgrade the car so they reverted back to the copy and paste Red Bull, it's not that hard to figure out. That clone is still faster than anything else bar the McLaren....
Why bar McLaren? Granted McLaren seem much closer than the other teams, but they dont' seem to be a threat over a GP distance either.
Perez started in position. What on earth have you been watching this year The Race? 80% of the year this is where he has been and worse. If Perez performed, if Mercedes and Ferrari got their act together Aston Martin would be middling still. That said Alonso is the GOAT managing to trick Perez and grab that third place.
And it's also probably due to changes to management and the possibility of the Whole Aston Martin Lagonda company being sold to the PIF and it will take effect in the end of the F1 Season
