    The vacuum diaphragm slide covers/caps, along with the float bowl screws: I replaced mine with alan bolts. Also to bypass the use of a Dremel - I would have given some small vice grips a try at that screw. The slide/diaphragm spring and cover installation: Place the cover/cap on the workbench, and put a pencil in the slot on the cover - then put the spring on - then compress the spring - remove the pencil - then make an attempt to install. While installing, hold the vacuum slide up so the diaphragm gasket doesn't shift. Don't forget to confirm the TPS Ohms come in at 500 Ohms ( +/_ 10 Ohms ). Those pilot screws are unmolested and default from Honda - I do not recommend adjusting them. Remounting the carb assembly to the engine mounting boots is not as god awful as it sounds. Just put a very light film of lubricant on each of the mating surfaces. When they go in, shimmy the assembly about to make sure everyone is seated properly. .......It is the upward-facing ~5/8" piping on the front carb that goes to the underside of the airbox..... ...............that's a pain. A light lubing of rubbing alcohol on the mating surfaces of things also works at times as it will evaporate after you're done, and is an excellent cleaner, in advance of assembly work.

      @@rowdymurphy7340 Hi, not sure if you still need to figure out where all your hoses go...it's really impossible to explain hose routing accurately using words. Do you have the SERVICE MANUAL? If not, I can email it to you if you send me your address.

      I attach that 5/8 hose to the air box first, then attach it to the cylinder head cover.

    Japanese Phillips head screws need a JIS (Japanese industrial standard screwdriver) to keep from camming out- US Phillips screwdrivers will not work. Actually, the Phillips head that comes in the Honda tool kit works quite well

    Hey I’m about to buy this bike and it starts but dies afterwards. Is it a huge chance it’s the carbs or something else?

    • @threeboysgarage
      @threeboysgarage  3 года назад

      Hi. It's likely a fuel or air delivery issue or gas could be bad too. If the price is right and everything else is good it may be a good deal. Getting to the carbs is a pain but doable. Depends on how much effort you want to put into it.

    Is this your VTR?
    sitting for 2 years?????? Rebuild them! Cutting corners? Skimping out as much as that plastic piece on the metal elbow on the choke cable.
    Carbs are out...might as well rebuild them. Just saying !

      Hi Rowdy, I don't have a coolant routing chart handy but you could try looking on PartZilla and finding the pieces. You can usually trace the hoses and wires if you piece together their different pictures.
