You’ve made Pakistan officially one of my highest anticipated travel destinations. The people are *so fuggin nice* !! The land and the buildings and the art and the “random mystery drinks & food”. The place you ate pakoras and gave corn to monkeys is the same place where once our car got wrecked and we had to ask for help from locals. Watching this video reminded me of that incident. 😊
I would be ashamed to govern anyone 50 or 100 rupees tip at these touristic places being a Pakistani myself haha its better to not. Also the problem here is you just got in the eyes and they all come so it creates a chain.
My biggest fear would be running out of fuel in the middle of nowhere. For example you thought you were taking the highway but ended up doing the country road which added 3 hours of driving.

You can travel to alots of areas in that red zone without security. Remember there is no law stating that foreigners going in that red zone area need security escorts. The police are a bother. They usually tag along to ask for a bribe in the end. For your case I think the hotel they took you to was probably owned by their friend. So they wanted to help out with his business. Next time if security tries to tag along. Tell them to piss off….. trust me it works.
I am so interested in absolutely never traveled border areas. Imagine what the heck is going on in the villages in the border region of Pakistan and Iran. Or right on the border with Afghanistan. Or the border between China and North Korea. Or Russia and North Korea. Or Iran and Turkmenistan. I’m quite sure no outsiders have been there in the last couple hundred years at best
Better to use apps like Couchsurfing in Pakistan and the locals are happy to host they are very hospitable in Pakistan. Then you don’t have to deal with these situations.
I would never go to these places alone as a Pakistani but he is a foreigner, don't try it again please, but loving the American perspective to our culture
