Great channel. Can we please have more videos like this. I am always making mistakes with my paint and it’s frustrating as hell. Can you do a video on common newbie mistakes to fix paint before gloss coat. Eg i would have sanded down, filled that scratch, shot the silver again and it would have likely still been visible. Mistakes i make are , scratches, finger prints, small dust particles in the paint, slight overspray in areas making it look like wetter patches, repairing panel line damage from scribing mishaps, my wet coats tend to not stay wet and level off evenly, so i just end up throwing more paint at the model. I appreciate it’s probably just my skill level needs to improve but help from vids like this saves a lot of frustration.
Hey, great video! I recently started getting into doing models and your channel has been a huge help. Thanks for making all your how to's easy to follow and fun to do.
Hey Tom. Didn't have a severe issue like this but had some dust. Wet sanded it out, but now it left; best described as a divot; in the clear. What would you recommend? Should I do what you did, sand and repaint then clear or just mask off the trunk and reclear? The problem is this particular model; Porsche; the trunk lines are not fully to the edge and not as easy to mask off. I don't want to have to strip down the entire car down to plastic and redo the entire process from ground up like ive done multiple times on the same model as before. It was so close to being done too, which frustrates me big time
Interesting, I would have thought you'd have to re-paint the whole trunk. On camera the repair area appears to show, but in the photos it does not. I imagine as it cured it continued to blend. Amazed by this.
Thanks so much for the videos! Is it still the same process after decals and clear coats? I am worried about masking on the decal sections and having them pull off.
Curious if you can answer: I sprayed a biplane kit with Rust-Oleum rattle cans ( came out very nice!) but screwed up a section on the upper wing as I was applying a clear gloss overcoat prior to applying decals. Not sure if the Rust-Oleum paint is enamel or lacquer. Is there any easy way to correct this without sanding/stripping paint down to plastic, repainting, etc.? This was six months of work on this kit only to see it cave at the final lap. Arrrrggggh! Any suggestions would be appreciated!
I'm building the new tamiya suzuki GSX RR I was using the alclad candy silver for the sparkling silver that's called out for the candy just looked nicer but my issue was the Tamiya masking tape has left a couple of blemishes on the silver and I had left it to air off for 3 day's and took the tac out the tape I think I'm going to have to redo the 2 side pannal silver's I tried wet sanding but it was scratching the candy to like a darker gunish metal colour I'm not sure what to do here never experienced this with candy paints before have you had anything like this? Thanks
The metal and silver paint from alclad can be a bit fragile without clearcoat on it. I have had it tear of with the tape before. Have you already sprayed the candy color? Or just the silver base?
Nice work I watched most of your videos and I’m impressed with your technique and work , I’m new in this hobby and i wonder 1/what should i use to remove paint if i made mistakes or wanted to change colors ( both this kind of plastic and lexan body shell) ? 2/if I don’t have primer or I can’t find can I replace it with white paint??
Thank you for this video:) May the next model be the tamiya Toyota supra I'm considering building one myself but I need some inspiration for the color hahaha
I've painted an Audi R8 and there are pits in the paint. is this were the paint hasn't got and do I need to spray a few more coats or do I have to strip the paint off?
Thank you for taking the time to teach us how to fix up our worst nightmares.
I always appreciate your time and talents.

Nicely done. What's involved with attempting to polish out a scratch before going the sanding route?

There is a very high risk on decal areas

Hi, nice how to fix this type of issue. How about if you grinded through the paint sharp edges when preparing fore polishing?

I find upvc plastic cleaner/solvent strips paint off good. It’s strong smelling and smells like lacquer thinner. That is probably good too.
Excellent work !

Its a shame that metallic flakes of this colors is so insanely out of scale :(
Will you help me to repaint my airplane model that have a paint chipped in the right tip of my elevator
Nice job!
How did you match the colors being that the rest of the model was masked off so you had nothing to compare it with?
I used the exact color i used on the rest of the body. and the trunk was still unmasked.

+Luke Knights could you send some pictures?
The Scalemodeling Channel can I email them to you?
+Luke Knights thescalemodelingchannel@gmail.com
You should do a video on how to send requests for commission builds
TheRabit11 that would be a 3 second video xD
Its as simple as sending me an email
Would this worked for chipped paint on my r34? It chipped off after I assembled everything
Kyle Sagun yes, but maybe you should add some filler before you paint to even the surface out
The Scalemodeling Channel thanks
