@@spvidz I'm trying to find a flow that would be a performance from the beginning. I'm thinking about how I might use the 404 as a live looper and beat maker. But the problem I come into is that the creative part, where you chop and resample things, is a bit fiddely, and it's not really entertaining if you don't understand what is happening. I don't imagine doing it on stage, if that makes sense. I'd like to figure out how to chop and resample as a part of the show.
Little Music Boxes not sure the SP is the best tool for that kinda thing. Guess it depends how good you get with it. Sounds like you’re better off with a looper of some description. I guess you could maybe incorporate both somehow!
Finally dropped some on your sample pack - good thing you extended the sale dude keep up the good work. You’re not the only one doing SP videos, but you’re certainly making the most succinct and easy to digest ones. Peaaace
Thanks man hope it was useful. I've not done much around the pattern sequencer yet, I've been trying to improve with it myself as I don't really use it. Content will be coming soon!
Wow bro, I was a little skeptical but this works really, really well. Even if you are resampling a loop and not finger drumming, tap out the tempo on an empty pad and hit record in time with the 1 locks the loop in pretty much perfectly. Great tip man.
Another great video man. It's awesome to see so much new content. And really all helpful too. Thanks man. I've just bought a, new mixer so on my day off I'm going hook my sampler up to my mixer and turntable and chop chop.
Nice one man glad you are digging the content, it’s the reason I make the vids! Sound like fun I really need to get a DJ mixer I’ve been running through this crappy hand me down amp for ages and it sounds bad! No EQ control or anything!
Awesome technique as always. First video I have watched of the new set up. Not sure if your camera holder is connected to the table, but it's a little shaky. Constructive criticism only because I love your channel and it's always simple and to the point.
Yeh man its something I need to address, I need to get the camera on something separate to the table cause it doesn't work. Thinking of making some kind of stand from the left over wood! Appreciate the feedback!
Clean clean as always :) very nice technique, this one yes. I wanted to ask you... does yor rca connection ever throws noise? Or the sp at all? Could you please tell us how tu run your sound, ir would be much appreciated.
When you crank the compression you can hear noise, you can even hear the lights flashing which is weird as f*ck. Generally speaking its ok though just what you would normally expect from plugging any device in that has an electric circuit.
How do you free time your loop? When I go to record it plays a metronome to a set bpm. Also is there any full guide you would recommend for a beginner, I'm following some tutorials but I feel lost often.
Im not using the pattern sequencer. I'm using resample and recording the loop onto another pad. I would suggest having a look through my archive there are a lot of tutorials, tricks and tips!
pretty much man yeah, think i mentioned in this video, sometimes i have to go back a couple of times and resample the drum loop to get it in time. You can also adjust it with the time/bpm button too
you could try amazon - amzn.to/39JXB4f. For cables it depends on your audio interface but I use a phono to double jack and go into inputs 1 & 2 in my interface - amzn.to/2V109pu that's all you need
spvidz cheers bro what budget audio interface do u recommend that will meet the requirement of this sampler. And also where is the best place to get free jazz samples, hahah sorry for all the questions
This is the one i've got man - amzn.to/39M6daN works perfectly as its got phono out the back as well. For samples try streaming services and RUclips, or go traditional and use record stores etc! Takes a lot of time to get good at sampling, you just gotta try and listen to as much music as you can!
spvidz okay thx sm for the help. Been making beats for a bit under a year and I love creating lofi tracks. I just started up my insta page and my soundcloud recently. No matter how many times I promote my work or like how regular I post . I’m just not getting much attention especially on insta and soundcloud. Do u have any yips
So hitting 12 just aids in helping you keep the timing? Interesting trick. Hitting that tiny record button can definitely be tough when you’re in the groove! Great vid, and just bought the drum pack! 🔥
Awesome man thanks for the support! Yeah hitting it at the same time as record whist pretending its the first kick of the loop really helps me get the timing perfect some how! weird little trick but thought I would share as I remember struggling at first
Thanks for this, works for me everytime! With no metronome do you just play with no exact tempo in mind? Is there a way to kind of keep track of time or temp or is that part of the quirks in sp404 beats?
Hello, these videos are really cool, o haven’t got one of these samplers yet, however my question is : Is there a metronome to keep you in time when playing or resampling. Say you set the metronome to come out of the head phones whilst the main mix out does not send it? Or a flashing bpm light???
oh my. that is a nice little trick. so odd that final bass drum at the end.lol. video idea: using the sp as an effect via daw. keep up the good work, man
Yeah its an odd little quirk isn't it! Haven't thought why it might happen properly. Yeah need to do more DAW related stuff, lots of requests for it at the moment. Thanks for watching!
orrrr. play the drum loop one bar longer so you have some wiggle room. then use the mark button in and mark button again to catch that part of the loop you want to keep - the one that sounds right and in time.
Definitely an option man yeah, i find the way in this video a lot quicker though, it rarely doesn't work then you don't have to play around trying to get the exact end point with the start/end button but obviously its personal taste and whatever workflow you prefer :)
this is a random video to ask this on, but is when i set a bpm for a new/old pattern sequence, it’s sets every single pattern sequence to that bpm! any way to stop this from happening? tried everything i could think of
I got an SP-404sx a couple weeks ago and coming across all these tutorials is a godsend 👏🏾
Glad to hear it man! That's what they are here for :)

I just tried it and I am absolutely shocked how well it worked... I don't think I've ever nailed a loop that quick.
Nice one man! Glad to hear that
I've had a 404 for 3 days and feel like I can already make tracks using it. Love your content and presentation style man!
Yo man that’s awesome! Glad the videos of helped you out
This channel is so inspiring. I just got my 404 yesterday. So pumped.
Nice man, hope you enjoy the learning process!
@@spvidz Yea, I've been making beats on Volcas for a bit, but this is a whole new paradigm. Fascinating to see how different people use it.
Yeah definitely, there are lots of different work flows so its best to experiment and see what works best for you

Cool mate yeah I almost did that today actually, Its definitely something I want to cover soon!

how to get it at the same time as how youre thinking of finger drumming your sample to make a melody. just practice?

Odd one. Maybe prep the pattern for recording so the metronome starts then set it? I don’t think I’ve actually tried having different bpms before
