I am getting concerned that the great wealth of guitar history is being exposed and on display because their great collector has reached a point in time whereby he may be considered a 59 LP or 31 D28. Stay here, stay healthy and pass the torch on to a deserving group so we can continue to learn and have access to music history.

    I have a question. I am sure that the warehouse has excellent temperature and humidity controls. But aside from that what do you recommend for long term storage? Do you tune the instruments to an a 440 before storing them or do you tune them lower. In other words what is the best amount of tension to keep on the neck if you don't expect to play it for 10 years?

    • @johnsmith-bk4ps
      @johnsmith-bk4ps 3 года назад

      i turnem down about halfway

    • @richtfingers
      @richtfingers 3 года назад

      My approach is to keep them tuned up to pitch (440). The thinking is that this will keep the neck in the right plane, anything less would leave the neck bent for a long time in the wrong position.

These are historically important cultural artefacts that have values that are much bigger than just their utility value. We need to preserve the very best examples as we do with art, technology etc. A 50s Strat deserves a place in the Smithsonian as much as anything else. Your logic would have someone leaving their Mercedes gull-wing out in the Walmart carpark while they did the shopping. We owe guys like Norm a debt of gratitude for seeing the bigger picture long before others did. If utility value is all that matters why are you so focused on something you probably can't afford anyway??? Get a Squier classic Vibe 50s and use that. Norm has one of the biggest stockpiles of guitars in the world. Man, I’m amazed every time they do a warehouse show. The beautiful guitars he’s acquired is nice. Out of my price range at the moment but nice.

    Can you say roughly how many guitars are in the warehouse? Warehouse + store would be ?? Not asking dollar amount...just curious as to how many he has. Thanks!

    Is this entire warehouse Norm's?? Meaning, the building and the crates.. It would be absolutely unreal if all the crates are filled with guitars..

    Man, I own a handful of guitars and I always worry about a house fire or flooding when we leave the house unattended for any period of time.. I can't imagine the worry and burden on Norms shoulders having all those incredible instruments in one spot..

    I’d LOVE to have that Thunderbird! I have a modern Epiphone version with almost the exact same case except the case needs to be redone on the interior!
