Thanks for the support man, im dealing with the mid phase now(been 4 months) , its tough to deal with the hair(lot of criticism from my family and friends to cut it) im having its straight little curly but thick. btw this is my first time growing them wish me luck, Thanks again
+Beardbrand I'm 6 months. Hair down to my upper lips. (only the mid top though. I trimmed the sides and back to get an undercut look since my sides and back are proportionally unbalanced.)
I'm having the same issue man! I really want to cut it, but I'm growing it out for the summer to see how it looks. I have also been growing it out for about 4 months and it looks pretty bad right now on me. It takes a long time to syle it and make it look somewhat good, so I usually wear hats.
+C. Kornelis just get an undercut until you can tie a ponytail with the top of your hair then grow the sides and back. I cut mine today because I'm losing my individual attractiveness. Got an undercut. :( didn't cut it too short but I'm giving up the man bun.
I usually wear a stubble head. I've attempted long hair so many times, but I would typically buzz it about once a week, so I've never exceed 5 months. I just feel too grubby and end up back to the same cut, or something similar. I'm currently one month in on another attempt, from scratch, and videos like this are helping to instill the patience in me. (Time laps videos help as well, and are fun to watch.) It seems like everybody who has long hair got it over night. I forget that everybody goes through the same awkward, crappy looking stages. At the end of the day, I've always just cared too much about keeping a clean look, but the desire to FINALLY grow my hair out and get a man bun goin' is overtaking the need be clean cut, lol. I support the long hair, long beard movement, I just gotta get in the game myself! Wish me luck, fellas!
Eric, my job allows me to grow facial hair it must be fully grown when you're there so next month, when I'm on my vacation time, I'm going to grow my beard out. I'm pumped! I have 2 weeks off and I figure that if I don't shave for a few days before vacation I'll have enough for my boss to let it go. Look out world!!
Tim Todaro Hell ya Tim! It's also pretty kicking that you are going to have 2 weeks off - I can't remember the last time I had that long off. You'll grow a good foundation in that time.
I tried the hair drier on cold air and wide tooth combs only today and it worked awesome! A little advice that worked for me is that you could part your hair instead of having to go through an awkward stage. I rode the middle part to the finish line
Dane Schumacher Good advice. I went through a phase where I was doing a side part with a bit dapper hair style (see my grow hair faster video). It's fun to change up as you grow.
Water only washing is my best friend. I wash with water and then clarify with distilled water. Outside of that, I use a comb on my scalp everyday when I wake up. I might skip a day. But that's all I do to my hair, other than shake it out to dry it rather than use a towel. It's the healthiest hair I've ever had.
hi eric, i liked your video, i am some one who read about hair on the net/books/mags/apps for the past 5 years, and i want to tell you that you have given some good informations here, especially when you spoke about how to wash with shampoo and conditioner, i would like to see you give a more full demonstration, how ever i still have problems with my hair all though i know all of those things out there (that i don't follow all of them obviously) if i air dry my hair it will become extremely frizzy and ugly, it would look dry(because of the excess oils), i have wavy/curly hair, and i don't like curly hair, i want it to become straight so i try to use products that has scilicons in it (i am not doing so at the moment because i am moisturising with provost shampoo/conditioner and René Blanche cristal drop serum), i have the extremely oily hair, and that oil makes it unmanageable, i sent you a pm earlier but i know how hard is youtube in matter of communication, i would like you to give me some advices so i could maybe follow you (and at least it is a reason to follow something), i would also like to see you talk about hair loss and how massage is effective on that matter, cheers and stay well.
I have the dry curly frizzy hair but it looks pretty good when I take care of it with products. It's only 6 months long from a fade although it still looks kinda short and when stretched, it reaches out to a little under my eyes. I de tangled it for the first time last week because I think it was actually beginning to form dreads LOL it looks a lot better now. I have days where I just want to cut it off and then other days that I'm glad im still growing it out.
You have the style I want to go for, Eric. I started off with the "gentleman" style and I've been just cutting the sides and back and sort of fading the side without touching the front. It goes well with the beard. My hairstylist (who happens to be a Metalhead, too) keeps telling me notto trim the beard and keep growing my hair. Beard on, man!
Awesome video as always. I used to have long curly hair down to the middle of my back. Had to have it cut down in order to get a job. But thanks to that I started growing a beard, and it turned to be a journey with no return to the World of beards!
I'm growing out my hair long again for the first time in a few years. Currently I'm in the phase where there is NOTHING I can do to style my hair in a way where it looks good (i.e. 4 months out of a buzz cut), and it's only going to get worse for the next few months. I reckon it's going to look like shite until at least mid-September. But that's the thing about awkward phases. You've just gotta power through them and keep your eye on the prize.
Man, great video. So so so SO helpful! And Raul is a great guy I keep up with his hair updates and such. You both are great encouragements to keep growing my hair.
I'm in that phase when I started to grow my hair form a zero fade. My gol is the ponytail or samurai style, but I only want this in the top of the head, so I I'm gonna need less time than a fully grown hair. Excellent video, as usual.
Albert Casanova Cabedo Thanks for the comment Albert. I contemplated keeping the sides trimmed; but decided to grow it all out. I can always trim them later.
Love the hair vids Eric 17 now so still a bit young for the beard ones I started growing my hair out in January 4 months in and the sides and back are still petty short I'm gonna take your advise and stop washing it as frequently :)
I have very thick dark brown hair, and after a few days of now washing, wearing hats, sweat from the gym I often get itchy and ultimately end with flakes! Never to the extent you see in the anti dandruff adds but enough that I need to wash it. Occasionally I use a coal - tar anti dandruff treatment, but only if it's really bad.
All the videos are perfectly timed ! I have been growing my hair out from the fade into a ponytail. My top is much longer than the sides, so what I'm doing during this "awkward phase", I have a top knot with the longer hair and the the rest is pulled together to the back with another hairband. All being hold by VO5 Mattfibre. I think that is a good look (at least for me !) To anyone growing their hair out. Just play with what you have right now and see what you can pull off ! Beard on Chaps !
Marcin Michalski Thanks for sharing your techniques man. I really like the look of half my hair in a knot and the rest just laying there. Adds some cool dimensions to it.
Cool video. I'm right in the middle of the awkward phase where my hair is starting to get longer in the back, but it's still not hanging off my head like yours is. Can't wait for some real length to come in! My main issues right now are: 1. Because I have thick, wavy hair, my hair gets really poofy in Austin's humid weather. It looks like there's an eagle's nest on my head if I don't control it with some product. I visit the bathroom often to take a look at it and make sure it hasn't gotten out of control again. I think that will be less of an issue once it gets longer and gravity pulls it down more. 2. I'm having issue with flaking as my hair is getting longer. I use a scalp brush when I shampoo to really get down there on the scalp, but it isn't really helping enough. I need to ask my stylist about some products that can help me clear up the scalp.
Aaron Vincent Try my tips for the curly hair. I don't know if you've used hair oil before or not; but it could help out a good bit. Interesting about the flaking. Has anything else changed in your life - diet, exercise, stress, washing routine, etc?
Beardbrand I don't eat well and don't exercise enough, won't lie about that. That could be a source of issues. I will definitely check out the hair oil, I had occasionally used beard oil in my hair before, but haven't tried actual hair oil! :) Would you recommend any particular brands? I checked your website, but I don't see any--just the beard oil.
Beardbrand Quick extra reply: I actually had an appointment for a dry cut with my stylist today and talked to her about the dryness/flaking. We figured out the culprit was using a toothed scalp comb when I shampoo. She told me to never use pointy edges on my scalp for any reason, and she actually recommended against even using my fingernails. She said all you need to do is use your fingertips to massage the shampoo into your scalp, and the shampoo's alpha hydroxy acids will take care of any scalp build-up without the need for fingernails :) I found some 100% natural argan and jojoba oils on Amazon with high reviews, I'm going to purchase both and give them a shot. Thanks again!
well i have been growing my hair out for about a year and a half now. and i just found your channel. I am subscribing and hope to get more sound advice from you in the future
I also need to wash my hair everyday or else I notice my hair getting greasy; although, I feel a bit conflicted because I know its not good to wash hair everyday. Are there any products that I can use that will eliminate greasy hair and allow me to skip a day of washing? Or is there a shampoo that I can use that is a bit less harsh on my hair and scalp? Thanks a lot! Replies from anybody is welcomed!
If you could do a video on the specific products you use, not only the ones you sell but any you stand by, it would be much appreciated. I heard you mention some brand names in this video but having another video that focuses specifically on them would be good I think.
throwmyshoes I've done some styling products review here: ruclips.net/video/ambgs_f3180/видео.html I haven't found a wash / conditioner product that I'm totally in love with yet for my hair; so I'm still a bit on the fence. For a bar of soap, I've been really pleased with the Shea Moisture Utility Bar. I get it at Target.
I actually found that after I commented. Guess I should have done a little more research before posting. Thanks for the response, keep up the great videos, I love all your stuff!
As always Eric, Great video. I'm almost 5 months in growing my yeard and I have to say that your videos are very helpful. I'm debating whether or not to grow my hair out too. Either way I know it will take time. Thanks for putting these videos together.
Brian Edward I always like to say, when in doubt; grow it out. You can always trim it down later. But if you are just on the fence and cut it - you can't grow it tomorrow. Thanks for the comments!
Very good video. Very good information. Your hair is looking awsome. Very good goal to reach. I bet when u reach that goal u will change it and go longer. Keep beard and hair growing, i am. And i love it.
I've just completed 6 months of untrimmed hair growth. I suspect that this is one of the hardest stages, just breaking the habit of always thinking you 'need'. I previous had an undercut, and then a top knot. I feel these are now really over worn by others now and no longer and no longer look 'classy'. I think longer hair has a bit more character, and it kind of has a knock on affect on me as an individual. I enjoy your vids, keep em up! Could you do one about dandruff and reducing it in longer hair? Peace out.
Wow first time coming across your channel, totally going to subscribe. BTW the times taps were very useful. Also Can you specifically recommend any hair products you personally use
What product do you use in your hair? If any at all. If not, what would you recommend for something that holds, pliable all day, and does not dry and "crisp" up like gel or certain pomades often do?
Killlerturtle So lately I've been going without products most of the times, but when I do use product I tend to use Texture Paste from Fellow Barber. See this video: ruclips.net/video/eQj3_casWgM/видео.html
That's awesome! You can relate to the videos even more! Yeah, I still go through all the comments and respond where I can no matter how old the video is. -Josh
Great video again. So do you recommend just leaving the hair totally no trimming at all? The back hair tends to form a mullet when it gets too long so should I keep trimming until everything gets longer or leave it. Thanks you
Growing out an undercut atm, had it down to a 1.5 on the back and sides about a month ago and decided to grow it all out. top comes down to about my lip but the sides are uneven from when I used to have a fringe a couple of inches at most. my question is should I keep just growing it all out or get it evened up? also what style tips do you have whilst growing it out? just the top knot and brush back?
Milo Harper I'm growing out a undercut atm, I would grow it out and even it all out to the same length and go from there. I do a jarred letto style because my hair is long enough for that and it hides and keeps it all out of my face
Great video man. Your style is something that I'm trying to get to where I can comfortably put it behind my ears and out of my eyes although it is only 6 months long. Yours looks great especially with that sick beard! Thanks for the great tips
Hello Beardbrand, Could we get a video about how to properly and subtly trim the sideburns with a balded or shaved head ? Thanks for all the great job ! Best regards from France.
I heard that combing hair after shower pulls out too much hair out of your head same with pony tail on wet hair and same with sleeping with wet hair... What are your thoughts on that?
I don't know if it's just me but i find my hair is at it's best after around 3 days of washing it. I hate washing it because once dried it has this horrible texture and it has no weight to it, it just kinda falls straight down and gives me a horrible curtain. I much prefer it when some grease has got into my hair and then it's more malleable and stays where i want it to and it just looks better (i usually wash it once or twice a week). My usual washing routine is shampoo roots, wash out, end shower with a cold blast (apparently this is good for your hair?) towel dry vigorously, then leave it in a pony tail for a few hours since hair would naturally go forward. and then i'd take the hairband out and fluff it up and leave the rest to air dry. My hair is about 7 inches now. Do you have any tips so that i don't have horrible hair every time i shampoo it. Maybe i'm doing something wrong?
Aidan Ruffle A natural soap (like Eric said he uses while traveling) will not strip the natural oil ("grease") from your hair like most shampoos will. Also air drying is supposed to be better for hair than towel drying, especially "vigorous" towel drying!
How many times a week do you shampoo your hair? Naturally, my hair is similar to yours but I use products that dry it out so I don't know if the shampoo is making it better or worse.
started growing my hair out in november and its been going through all of those akward stages and just like he said (ive been having alot of criticism from friends and family to cut it but this video helped and i was just wondering if i should be at least cutting it or something so tha it goes straight back in an even length all thorough. anyways loved this video and definitely watching more keep up the good work
+Filiberto Garcia Glad you're digging the videos! As for the hair, you can definitely go in for trims - it'll help eliminate split ends and it will even things up. Keep on growing! -Zach
Awesome video again, Eric! I've been growing my top mohawk since October, from 0.5 inches as a startup, and after almost 7 months of growth (it reaches the middle of my nose bridge) I still cannot get all the mohawk in a ponytail. It's kinda frustrating, but eventually I'll get there. Hope to see more of your hair videos in the future! Also, have you considered more natural shampoos as an alternative?
Amazing stuff here! I have been growing my hair out since July 2015 and now I have it in an undercut and I want a man bun but the front part of my hair is half as long as the back part it won't go all in the bun in the back my hair in the back is a lot longer and it's so frustrating I don't know what to do I started using argan oil and biotin I feel like it's been a long time now and my hair isn't nearly as long as it should be
Awesome videos very informative. I've been letting my hair grow out for the first time ever, recently got out of the army, so I'm going on about 3 months of growing. My question is, should I get a haircut just to clean up the back and sides and sideburns ????
Sir, you are the best. Really i mean it. I am just a teenager. But i like long hair, so i saw your video and i got to know that my hair is silky or wavy whatever. But on the top of my head, the hair at that very place is a lot drier than other portions of my hair. Can you please recommend something.....
Glad you liked the video man! To help with the dryness on the top of your head, make sure you're using conditioner. If you apply it at the roots (the top of your head) and work it through to the ends, then that should help keep your hair moisturized and soft. -Josh
i decided to grow my hair, aiming for that bun. Should i cut the sides and back from the beginning, or just let it grow? Im starting from a buzz cut, length virtually the same all around.
Eric, I've just gotten passed my fourth month of growing out my hair and I'm having a really hard time with maintaining my side burns. Also, how do I prevent the back of my hair from growing out into a mullet. I know you mention that cutting your hair in between hair growth is BS but is there any way where I can tidy the look up a bit? Let me know what you think!
accxel7 I think cutting is fine as you grow out and I've trimmed twice as I grew it out. It's just regular trims aren't a good idea. Head into the barbershop and let them know your goals to grow your hair and not cut off too much length. It'll set you back a month or two; but will help with the awkward phases.
Hey Eric, do you use leave in conditioner? Because I used it for the 1st time yesterday (with sea salt/beach spray) after a trim and that was the best my hair looked in years. Also how often do you wash you hair?
ApotheosiZ Right now I'm washing about 6 times a week, but I'm trying to cut that down. I'm in search of a really good gentle wash that I can go to daily. I'll probably end up formulating something and start testing it.
Hi, Eric. Again, another awesome video. I'm also growing my hair out. I'm just wondering, did you ever go to get your hair trimmed or thinned out in that 11 month period of time that you were growing out your hair? Thanks man, I really appreciate your hard work with everything you do. Keep it up, man.
FreeKick Bro'z Yup, I went in for a couple of trims with Sebastian. Probably a total of only two though. They were more of thinning trims than length trims. Good luck growing!
My hair is now super rar i used to have it a little shorter than you and i am going to shave it all off this summer because i want to give it a little brake from that pulling back that i keep doing (like you do) i hope it will help.
Aref Aoun Do what you gotta do for your style man. I'd be sure to give it a few days of thought before you do it. Like one night of sleep for every month of growth. Just to make sure it's the right decision for you.
hi my hair is around 6 inches on top but its around 3 inches from the sides and back what do you suggest should i get a haircut and if not then when ? P.s i have straight and thick hair
The long hair and the beard always make a perfect mixture for a handsome man appearance. I'm growing my hair now. Once I reach the 1-year mark, I will grow my beard too.
i have many questions about the process of growing my hair out. Ive never grown out my hair before but i'm digging the man bun and thats what i want. but what should i do with my side burns ? they're getting curly and out of control as well as for the hair behind my ears. should i be trimming these ? ive been growing out y hair for about 3 months now. i cant do a good top not yet. any tips you have for me ?
jonathon rogers You've got to be patient with your hair and give it some time. It'll get there, and then the wait will have been worth it. For the sideburns, you can trim them if they're getting in the way or you don't have any style inspiration for them, but managing the growth is all a part of the process. - Marque
+Englandia 22 Hey man, thanks for writing! You can use hair styling products in your beard if you'd like, it's really personal preference. I'd suggest finding a product that's water soluble - it'll make cleaning it out of your beard a lot easier without any residue left behind after a shower or wash. -Zach
I have been growing hair all my life, but I've never gone more than 4 months. This time I've chosen to grow it out and go for a bun. I always get long sideburns, what I wanted to ask is should i get some parts of my hair adjusted or should I just keep growing it out?
It depends on the type of look you're going for. If the end goal is a bun, then what you do with your sideburns is completely up to you. Keep growing man! -Parker
My hair doesn't seem to be as maliable and flexible as yours, mine is right to the tip of my nose and I use a leave in spray conditioner, and I towel dry my hair and brush it straight back after I shower, it is a lot like yours other than that. Is it just that it needs to grow more or is it something I'm doing?
Dane Schumacher Everyone's hair is a bit different and I have pretty fine hair which is probably easier to tame than a thicker hair. Length does give you some more control ability. Your hair is relatively short compared to mine currently and you'll see it definitely change.
Hey man, my hair is only about 2 1/2 in. and I want to do the man bun look. About how much longer do you think it will take if I just do the top because I cut my sides short.
Rudy I'm not Eric but I would just tell your barber really. As long as he knows where you want to go with it, he knows how to cut and style it. Best of luck with growing it out!
Great video, it's funny how all those guys make research about long hair as soon as they grow it out. I'm about 1 or 2 months away from yours and friends (especially the girls) keep on making fun of me as I seem to care more about hair then them haha. Just out of curiousity - you said you had an undercut before the outgrowing, was it kinda slicked back thing? I'm wondering due to your hair falls the way it does. Mine actually falls exactly like my previous side parting barber look, which is great though I hope that I will be able to pull of some different things as soon as hair grows longer. Anyway, keep up your work, i aprreciate it a lot!
Hello!! I have an interesting question :) How about us that workout many times a week (i workout twice a day=showers twice) ? What should we do? thanks :)
YoYo Yoo It's going to be very important to pick a high quality shampoo and conditioner. Since you will be washing your hair so frequently, you really want one that is mild and gentle. Also apply conditioner regularly.
Holy shit dude I love Your hair and your bead so much, and just your look in general, you just have this 'Manly' awesome look to you. I wish I could grow a beard like that!
Matthew Penner Depends on your goals and your patience. I've gotten two trims so far with my growth. If your goal is length; then let it grow. If your goal is the journey; then get trims when needed.
Hey! I have a quick question, my hair grows out/puffy and I've never seen it grow past my ears. It has the potential of being long and wavy but I'm in the process of trying to grow it out. and idk if it eventually drops or what lol. Have you had that stage? Or have any suggestions on getting through it quicker? Thanks!
Damn, my hair hasn't been that long since HS... Seems I started to lose the hair on my heard just as the hair on my face began to fill in. I try to retain what little I still have through Rogaine.
***** Depends on the length, because a some curly haired guys get a bad case of the frizz when letting the hair air dry and the ponytail comes undone. Try it out and see how it holds. - Marque
Beardbrand Thank you, I will try it out :) Another thing, while growing your hair out did you just let it grow or did you trim the sides/back or anything else from time to time?
my hair used to be about 6-7 inches long. but as it started to get all dry, curly and frizzy no matter what I did. so I shaved it and started over. the thing is now it's about maybe 4 inches and I noticed it started to get freakin dry and frizzy again, even though I did not damage it and maintain it well. my hair is normally between straight and wavy. Should I shave my head and start all over again? and yes I did try conditioners and all that stuff, makes my hair look good for maybe one day but then it's the same thing again.
Not all products are created equally. Here's my recommendations for you: 1) Don't shave your hair, you can begin the process of bringing good practices 2) Wash your hair with a premium shampoo which is designed specifically for dry & wavy hair. Try to find one without silicones. 3) Deep condition your hair with a silicone free conditioner 4) Let your hair air dry to a damp stage, then blow dry to desired style on a medium to low heat Once you have your foundation, you'll want to work on moving towards less frequent shampooing. Start by skipping every other day, then extend that to about 1 or 2 times a week. This will help keep your oils in your hair and prevent it from getting too dry. Report back in 1 month.
Beardbrand Alright first I'm sorry for the (very) late answer. So I got my hair cut during last summer , left about 3 inches on top and 0.5 inches on the sides and back. I have tried not cutting it since then , now the top is a little bit past my nose and the sides are about 2 -3 inches. So what I did first was tried skipping shampoo. I now shampoo 1-2 times a week, like you said. I also stopped agressively rubbing my hair with towels, and upgraded my conditioner to a higher quality one. It's gotten a lot better in look and texture. What I did notice also is that water based pomade dries out the hair a lot, So I switch to oil based ones.
Beardbrand Hey bro what's up by the way nice hair! I was just wondering if you could help me out I been growing my hair about for about 5 months and my hair is exactly like yours. Was just wondering what kind of shampoo and conditioner I should use and where should I get them from for that long healthy straight look.
Blake Cuthbertson Because my hair is oily, I tend not to condition my hair. On the rare chance I do, I just use some Beardbrand softener - but it's not very frequent. For my wash, I've been using Shea Moisture utility bar of soap, and will usually alternate that with a bar of soap that we are working on in production.
Blake Cuthbertson Also, keep in mind that I wouldn't necessarily recommend this grooming routine. I'm still playing around with a bunch of options to see what works best.
Hey Eric, I have naturally pretty straight hair, you have convinced me to grow it like yours, but will it flow like yours when i do so? Keep up the great channel, - Kevin
I used to grow my hair out, but I felt like it caused hair loss and made my hair thinner. Not sure if its my genes or was it that hair gets weaker if its longer. Any advice?
MrSledgehammer93 The hair should be the same, but what you may be experience is the hair being pulled down by it's weight which can make it look thinner; even though it's not. There are ways to add volume to your hair even with it longer. See my sea salt video for reference.
ve always wanted to grow my hair out but ive had a few concerns. First I have extremely extremely thick hair when it gets longer. my main concern is im a very very heavy sweater esp on my forehead. I have a shaved head now and i still sweat alot esp when i wear hats (wich i wear daily). i know I will sweat more when I hit that first grow out stage but will i sweat alot more and will it be more noticabloe when it gets longer. If I do grow my hair out I would most likely wear a snapback/beanie for the next year or 2 till its longer i love the look of long hair with a hat it fits my style. please help bros!
Trowa S Don't worry about the sweat man - happens to everyone. Just embrace that's what happens and keep a handkerchief near by to pat your sweat down.
Thanks for the support man, im dealing with the mid phase now(been 4 months) , its tough to deal with the hair(lot of criticism from my family and friends to cut it) im having its straight little curly but thick. btw this is my first time growing them wish me luck,
Thanks again
+Aamir Jazzy Good luck, and keep us posted on how things progress!
-Zach
What about dirt and sweat in your hair? Or if you swim and get chlorine in it?
I love the hair videos, cause I don't have a beard!
Growing my hair long for the first time and found this video very useful. Thank you for making this a while ago. I learned so many new things
hi eric, i liked your video, i am some one who read about hair on the net/books/mags/apps for the past 5 years, and i want to tell you that you have given some good informations here, especially when you spoke about how to wash with shampoo and conditioner, i would like to see you give a more full demonstration, how ever i still have problems with my hair all though i know all of those things out there (that i don't follow all of them obviously) if i air dry my hair it will become extremely frizzy and ugly, it would look dry(because of the excess oils), i have wavy/curly hair, and i don't like curly hair, i want it to become straight so i try to use products that has scilicons in it (i am not doing so at the moment because i am moisturising with provost shampoo/conditioner and René Blanche cristal drop serum), i have the extremely oily hair, and that oil makes it unmanageable, i sent you a pm earlier but i know how hard is youtube in matter of communication, i would like you to give me some advices so i could maybe follow you (and at least it is a reason to follow something), i would also like to see you talk about hair loss and how massage is effective on that matter, cheers and stay well.
telling you this guy has some of the best vids
alec jimenez Thank you for the kind words!
I've been growing mine for about 9 months now, definitely am not going to trim it now I've watched this! thanks
I'm new to your channel and I'm so thankful for your tips on curly hair. I'm so glad you think of all types of hair.
+Brandon Cruz Glad we can help, Brandon!
-Zach
AgnarrBjörnsson Thanks for sharing. It's fun that we've got two ways to grow our hair compared to women.
Beardbrand Totally!
I've been growing my hair for 8 months and this video has definitely helped. Thanks a ton. 👌🏻
Glad we could help! Beard on!
-Zach
I'm growing out my hair long again for the first time in a few years. Currently I'm in the phase where there is NOTHING I can do to style my hair in a way where it looks good (i.e. 4 months out of a buzz cut), and it's only going to get worse for the next few months. I reckon it's going to look like shite until at least mid-September. But that's the thing about awkward phases. You've just gotta power through them and keep your eye on the prize.
megagene Ya, and there are some things you can do. Just gotta play around with the options and be flexible. Wear confidence and it'll look great!
+megagene dude I'm in the awkward pre warrior phase lol
Hats, headbands and pomade are all ways to make the awkward phase more manageable.
Megagene are u still growing ur hair?
Yep lots of hats
Man, great video. So so so SO helpful! And Raul is a great guy I keep up with his hair updates and such. You both are great encouragements to keep growing my hair.
Anthony Headrick Glad you enjoyed and also glad to see we've got fans of both channels on here. Keep on growing!
I think that is a good look (at least for me !)
To anyone growing their hair out. Just play with what you have right now and see what you can pull off !
Beard on Chaps !
Marcin Michalski Thanks for sharing your techniques man. I really like the look of half my hair in a knot and the rest just laying there. Adds some cool dimensions to it.
This is a fantastic look for you Eric...This is my inspiration...right here!
Cool video. I'm right in the middle of the awkward phase where my hair is starting to get longer in the back, but it's still not hanging off my head like yours is. Can't wait for some real length to come in!
My main issues right now are:
She said all you need to do is use your fingertips to massage the shampoo into your scalp, and the shampoo's alpha hydroxy acids will take care of any scalp build-up without the need for fingernails :)
I found some 100% natural argan and jojoba oils on Amazon with high reviews, I'm going to purchase both and give them a shot. Thanks again!
Your hair is looking great. Looking forward to seeing you meet that goal! I like the match of length with your beard. Sounds just about right.
fivemile13 Thanks for the support and comments man.
Hey man liked your video had good tips and stopped me from making the same mistakes over and over again when trying to grow my hair
+Tyler14Sly13 Glad the video could help, Tyler!
-Zach
well i have been growing my hair out for about a year and a half now. and i just found your channel.
Evan Engelhardt use dry shampoo
If you could do a video on the specific products you use, not only the ones you sell but any you stand by, it would be much appreciated. I heard you mention some brand names in this video but having another video that focuses specifically on them would be good I think.
throwmyshoes I've done some styling products review here: ruclips.net/video/ambgs_f3180/видео.html
I haven't found a wash / conditioner product that I'm totally in love with yet for my hair; so I'm still a bit on the fence.
Awesome video again man, great information that is always important to hear! Your hair is looking beautiful! nice job buddy!
Gustavo Souza Thanks for the comments and the kind words!
Peace out.
Brett Sharkey Hmm, I did a beard flakes video; but I suppose I can talk about dandruff for the head hair as well. Thanks for the suggestion!
I love the timelapse idea. Good video
See this video: ruclips.net/video/eQj3_casWgM/видео.html
your hair looks great at this length Eric, keep up the great work....beard on!
As a dude who's growing his hair out I love this video
Im 14 and i have fairly long hair and this helped me a lot THANKS! :D
Happy to help!
-Josh
Wow a over 2 year old video but you still answered
A little extra... you look like my dad when he lived in the 80's
I'm from norway
Respect from me
That's awesome!
Thanks you
i use wax products on my hair. How often should i wash my hair and how to take care of it.
Jaschaos 111 i know this is late but about every other day or as less as posible withought having greasy hair
Finally found a recent comment lol :) I use coconut oil after showers and it gives my hair that greasy shine, should I stop applying it?
Hudson S Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the compliments and comments. Hope to see more in the future and keep on growing.
I have really frizzy and curly hair and I don’t know what products to use do you have any suggestions
Any suggestions?
Hello Beardbrand,
Could we get a video about how to properly and subtly trim the sideburns with a balded or shaved head ?
Thanks for all the great job !
Best regards from France.
How would I go about growing my hair out from a long undercut? The top (front) goes just past my nose, and the sides are done as a fade.
Just grow it out. I'm doing the same
My sides are short but it looks blended it with the top
Also had a disconnected undercut
Olivier van Rooij I agree with what Felix Buot said. I started with the undercut as well and have simply grown it out.
I heard that combing hair after shower pulls out too much hair out of your head same with pony tail on wet hair and same with sleeping with wet hair... What are your thoughts on that?
Eric, thank you for another amazing video Eric! Your hair and beard are looking awesome!
AtrumNoxProductions Thank you for another amazing comment. I appreciate the compliments and that you enjoy the video!
As someone with curly hair, wouldn't combing it after the shower separate most of my curls?
started growing my hair out in november and its been going through all of those akward stages and just like he said (ive been having alot of criticism from friends and family to cut it but this video helped and i was just wondering if i should be at least cutting it or something so tha it goes straight back in an even length all thorough. anyways loved this video and definitely watching more keep up the good work
+Filiberto Garcia Glad you're digging the videos!
I have been growing my hair out since July 2015 and now I have it in an undercut and I want a man bun but the front part of my hair is half as long as the back part it won't go all in the bun in the back my hair in the back is a lot longer and it's so frustrating I don't know what to do I started using argan oil and biotin I feel like it's been a long time now and my hair isn't nearly as long as it should be
+Jose Gonzalez Yeah man, sounds like it's just going to take some time and patience. Hang in there and let it grow!
-Zach
Thanks for the advice man!!! So informative!
Molti minace Happy to share and glad you learned something from it!
Awesome videos very informative. I've been letting my hair grow out for the first time ever, recently got out of the army, so I'm going on about 3 months of growing. My question is, should I get a haircut just to clean up the back and sides and sideburns ????
Sir,
you are the best.
-Josh
so should i not apply shampoo as you said in the video?
or do i have to apply both in order to make the situation better?
Yeah, conditioner doesn't do well on its own. You gotta use shampoo to clean the hair then conditioner to make it soft.
-Josh
i decided to grow my hair, aiming for that bun. Should i cut the sides and back from the beginning, or just let it grow? Im starting from a buzz cut, length virtually the same all around.
Grow it all out man. When in doubt, grow it out.
Moh'ammad Ibn Mohanna' Nice man! Why not grow at the same time?
Beardbrand I'm 21 years old. I'm delaying the beard growth a little bit to guarantee the full connection of my goatee, mustache, and sideburns.
Mo MHN hey men .. how is your hair and beard after 4 years of your post
i have many questions about the process of growing my hair out.
- Marque
Cud uu please please tell me. That can we apply hair wax into our beard??
+Englandia 22 Hey man, thanks for writing! You can use hair styling products in your beard if you'd like, it's really personal preference. I'd suggest finding a product that's water soluble - it'll make cleaning it out of your beard a lot easier without any residue left behind after a shower or wash.
-Zach
+Beardbrand yes thanks , a lot bro😬😬😬
Do you go to the barbers for a trim and shape throughout the growing process or just let it grow naturally?
+James Francis Don't ever trim
I have been growing hair all my life, but I've never gone more than 4 months. This time I've chosen to grow it out and go for a bun. I always get long sideburns, what I wanted to ask is should i get some parts of my hair adjusted or should I just keep growing it out?
It depends on the type of look you're going for. If the end goal is a bun, then what you do with your sideburns is completely up to you. Keep growing man!
-Parker
Yeah I'm definitely going to let it grow out for a man bun. And thanks!
do you think baby shampoo would be alright?
My hair doesn't seem to be as maliable and flexible as yours, mine is right to the tip of my nose and I use a leave in spray conditioner, and I towel dry my hair and brush it straight back after I shower, it is a lot like yours other than that. Is it just that it needs to grow more or is it something I'm doing?
Dane Schumacher Everyone's hair is a bit different and I have pretty fine hair which is probably easier to tame than a thicker hair. Length does give you some more control ability. Your hair is relatively short compared to mine currently and you'll see it definitely change.
Cool, keep up the hair videos for the less beardifully gifted subscribers like myself
Eric , any tips for hair products?
Hey dude my hair is very, very straight and I was wondering how I could get something wavy or curly? Thanks
Should I trim my hair at all while growing it, or should I just let it be?
Hey man, my hair is only about 2 1/2 in. and I want to do the man bun look. About how much longer do you think it will take if I just do the top because I cut my sides short.
Robert Lawrence about a year worth of hair growth
I like this length it's perfect right there I wish I had your hair type
Shampoo from the company Young Living Essential Oils has a a more natural shampoo makes my hair look the best and condition of course
Heya Eric!
I had an undercut but I want to grow my hair a lot longer now. What should I ask my barber when I go for a trim?
Rudy I'm not Eric but I would just tell your barber really. As long as he knows where you want to go with it, he knows how to cut and style it. Best of luck with growing it out!
Jeroen Haaksema Thank you m8! I appreciate it!
LOVE YOUR VIDIOS!! Soooo good
+Kyle Diver We appreciate that, Kyle! Beard on!
-Zach
What shampoo do you use? I want to grow out my hair but it gets greasy and oily quick especially after I sleep. And it is very flat.
Also apply conditioner regularly.
awesome THANKS!
How often did you get it cut in the first year or so? I have about eight months of growth out of a fade and it's getting unwieldy in the back.
I think I got two cuts in 12 months. But not to cut length, more more to thin out areas and give texture.
Love your hair man, and thank you for the advice
it amused me when you said, lets talk "a bit a little bit about." its fun to say.
Holy shit dude I love Your hair and your bead so much, and just your look in general, you just have this 'Manly' awesome look to you. I wish I could grow a beard like that!
+Spirit Albarn Thank you my friend! Grow what you can, and be proud of yourself.
When people say they dont wash their hair, do they mean not washing period or just not using any product (shampoo, conditioner etc)?
So, should I get small trims while I'm growing my hair out or should I just let it grow for the whole year
Matthew Penner Depends on your goals and your patience. I've gotten two trims so far with my growth. If your goal is length; then let it grow. If your goal is the journey; then get trims when needed.
Thank you bro... really helpful it is much appreciated.
Thanks!
+Benjamin k. Thank you man! My Instagram is @John_Supnik and the company is @genuinebyanthony
Damn, my hair hasn't been that long since HS... Seems I started to lose the hair on my heard just as the hair on my face began to fill in. I try to retain what little I still have through Rogaine.
hypermetalsonic That's how it goes for a lot of guys and you aren't alone. I've done a few balding videos that hopefully helps out.
Wait, I have curly hair, do I put it in a ponytail before or after letting it dry?
***** Depends on the length, because a some curly haired guys get a bad case of the frizz when letting the hair air dry and the ponytail comes undone. Try it out and see how it holds.
- Marque
Beardbrand Thank you, I will try it out :)
Another thing, while growing your hair out did you just let it grow or did you trim the sides/back or anything else from time to time?
Cool.. Meanwhile in growing long hair.. I want to get blonde hair style.. Please recommend some products for styling with color hair.
Great video men
Aziz kh Thank you and glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for the comment.
my hair used to be about 6-7 inches long. but as it started to get all dry, curly and frizzy no matter what I did. so I shaved it and started over. the thing is now it's about maybe 4 inches and I noticed it started to get freakin dry and frizzy again, even though I did not damage it and maintain it well. my hair is normally between straight and wavy. Should I shave my head and start all over again?
and yes I did try conditioners and all that stuff, makes my hair look good for maybe one day but then it's the same thing again.
Not all products are created equally. Here's my recommendations for you:
1) Don't shave your hair, you can begin the process of bringing good practices
2) Wash your hair with a premium shampoo which is designed specifically for dry & wavy hair. Try to find one without silicones.
3) Deep condition your hair with a silicone free conditioner
4) Let your hair air dry to a damp stage, then blow dry to desired style on a medium to low heat
Once you have your foundation, you'll want to work on moving towards less frequent shampooing.
Beardbrand
Hey bro what's up by the way nice hair!
Great video, you've earned a subscriber! ;) And I prefer you with this shorter beard!
is it NECESSARY to apply hair oil daily?
+Chirag Soni It's bad if you do it everyday, your hair will get used to it and that's bad
Hey Eric, I have naturally pretty straight hair, you have convinced me to grow it like yours, but will it flow like yours when i do so?
Keep up the great channel, - Kevin
+KevinScribbles no telling until you get there, but the good news is that you can generally style straight hair however you want to.
Thanks for the fast response man! Any product advice on the styling?
I used to grow my hair out, but I felt like it caused hair loss and made my hair thinner. Not sure if its my genes or was it that hair gets weaker if its longer. Any advice?
MrSledgehammer93 The hair should be the same, but what you may be experience is the hair being pulled down by it's weight which can make it look thinner; even though it's not. There are ways to add volume to your hair even with it longer. See my sea salt video for reference.
Thanks bro 💪🏻
ve always wanted to grow my hair out but ive had a few concerns.
