Wedge shapes are beautiful. BMW M1, DeLorean, Countach, AE86, Stratos and of course my favorite the Esprit.
My dad has an Esprit 350, he said that he's gonna let me have it when the time comes. They're such lovely cars to drive down back roads, and becoming quite a rare sight here in the UK
I thought I was watching a video from Petrolicious all the way up until the end. Great work
Wow, that's a huge compliment, thanks Robert!
Car Throttle I agree.. This was fantastic.. Well worth the wait
Thought exactly the same thing, great video, cool guy.
I'm new to the site but after watching all the readers rides I find the same high quality production values as in Petrolicious. Great job +Car Throttle
One of the best ideas, and RUclips videos to date. Top gear doesn't even have the balls to go to their viewers and see what they drive, why they drive it, why they love it. This idea is original, and interesting. How many teenagers drive a Lotus Esprit? Very cool idea Car Throttle.
Thanks, glad you like the series (and it's only the first episode!). Readers' Rides is all about you guys and your cars, and I hope we're able to visit as many of you as we can! Keep the submissions coming in, people.
You guys at Car Throttle definitely made an absolutely awesome job producing this video!
You can really feel the passion and enthusiasm and the love about this car. One of the most emotional and fantastic videos about automotive passion!
Can't wait for the next one!
Cracking little film. Could listen to that story all day. The guy is so easy to listen to when he’s talking about his Esprits. Totally agree about garage queen cars.
Great video! I own my dream, a '98 V8 Esprit. Whenever I'm feeling 'down', I jump in and get my 'fix', works every time. I've had it for nearly 5 years, with little to no problems, got to look after it (it is after all a competitive high performance car). ENJOY!
Jeff Pollard Wow! Must be nice. Mind if I ask how you afford such an exotic?
I'm retired, so I'm dipping into my 'bucket' list!
Great film, and great cars. Hats off to Jonathan for getting his dream machines
One of the best RUclips videos I´ve ever seen! Absolutely brilliant! Keep up the great work, CT.
Melker, that's made our evening. Thankyou.
You guys are doing the Car Lords work! Well done!
Thanks Steve! Glad you enjoyed the first episode.
Car Throttle GREAT VID BUT YOUR LOGO IS UGLY AS A PRIUS GO BACK TO THE OLD ONE
Car Throttle INDIAN POWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWER
This is a man who has amazing taste. I also have a Lotus Turbo Esprit S3 and I will take it to the roads and is a total attention grabber. I totally would recommend all Lotus's to a friend.
I love this kid. He totally gets it
Very cool video... loving this series!
LOL, "at least it's not a heroin habit" is exactly how I used to justify my Esprit... until I just couldn't justify the maintenance costs any longer.
Still my hat's off to the guy. It's a beautiful car, and I'm jealous of anyone who still owns one.
David Flores
It amazes me how people will just throw money away on any mechanic that pretends to know how to fix and how Lotus Esprit work. Esprit Turbo's 83 to 86 are the mostly reliable and mostly rewarding. The more you drive these cars the more reliable they are. Garage queens and cars driven once a month are notorious for reliability issues.
i have the same obsession with wedge cars ,love it
What a pleasant fellow this young bloke is. He has a real appreciation for the Esprit. Good on him. I just bought an S4S and understand where he is coming from. Good video guys.
Lots
Of
Trouble
Usually
Serious
Lol. Even the guy in the video admits that. British cars are not famous for running well - but it does look fun to drive.
Talon276 maintainence is key.If you dont have coins don't expect to have any car in a proper condition
never could of said it any better "i hate these people that buy these cars and stick it in a garage and never dirve it". i have myself a datsun and i have family and freinds telling me i should get a newer car to drive. no thanks i like my classic. i use it as a daily driver.
Datsuns are cool cars - respect!
In the summer (i.e. whenever there is no salt on the roads), I daily-drive a '68 Volvo Amazon. And the rest of the year, I drive my hard-edged NA miata. other people scoff, wonder why the hell I'd put myself through such abuse... myself, I love it. there's no way I would trade my amazon for anything other than a different classic.
iwannadrive I have a P1800 myself. What happened to Volvo? (besides Ford, who's period of ownership was pretty good)
flyingphoenix113
P1800s are way cool. I like the ES a bit better myself, but they are far harder to find.
Agreed
i have some really great memories of my granddad driving this exact car! maybe around 10 years ago!
the inside had a distinctively pungent smell of leather it was so nice, and made me burst out laughing whenever he put his foot down on the accelerator and increased speed. Glad i saw this video, have fun in it! I wanted to have it as my first car way way back!
what a nice memories, did your grand dad still have that car?
Nice work guys, Can't wait for the next episode
This was great!
*WE WANT MOAR!*
This is an amazing series guys. I'm from Canada and absolutely love your channel. Its too bad I'm all the way here otherwise I would ask you guys to check out my e46 M3 or maybe my brothers twin turbo supra. Keep it coming guys, really awesome work.
I love the wedge shape too. AE86 Trueno, Delorean and the like
mr2...
Detomaso pantera
Lancia Stratos(the ultimate wedge)
Pontiac Fiero
(Is a Fiero Formula owner)
What about the Dodge Conquest/Mitsubishi Starion??
I just bought a 83 turbo,, cant wait to get it on the road
Jenna08848 Do you still have it?
Really admire you. So young and a true enthusiast by your collection of the model. My fave. is also a S3 and second fave. is the S3 Turbo. Not very keen about the S4 on. I like the S3 Turbo for nostalgic reason - James Bond. But in looks, the normally aspirated S3 is sleeker. Your blue car is absolutely beautiful. Hope you still have it today.
Wauw I really love this! Too bad you guys can't come to The Netherlands, I drive a BWM E30 325i M-Tech II.
My dad had one in the 80's.Beautiful design.I think it is alot prettier than my Nissan GTR R35. Enjoyed your video.
Classic car ! Values will just go up and up with the Esprit.
Do more videos like this!
Great video, really cool to hear this young owner talk about his lovely car. Background music was also really good. Is it available online? Cheers!
This particular track isn't available online, but our music is produced exclusively for CT by Miguel Azevedo from Blare. Check the description for his info!
I am a lotus fanatic my self, I live in California and owned 3 of them, esprit, elite and Eclat, to this day I still miss my cars 😢
And my parents will understand that a car to me isn't just a way of transportation, it is a connection (like this fella said). I love cars, I love my 2007 Honda Accord Value package with its awesome little 4cyl and how it drives and how reliable it is. And now I'm saving my money to buy a S2000, and my parents will never understand why I have to buy it.
will never understand*
Compare it to any other supercar that was around in the mid 70s and you'll find that the Lotus Esprit was beautifully sorted and truly rewarded the active driver. I also think that the original Giugiaro design can make one forgive any shortcomings it has.
Well designed and friken beautiful car and American cars can't beat this design.
A man that understands automotive history and the place Colin Chapman holds in that history.
What language was he speaking?
He's a bit hard to hear - but what I can hear, I agree with. I love the Esprit, Countach, Pantera, etc.
nice video. I really love this style of pure automotive addiction. Im for ypres and help organizing the ypres lotus day. Really lovely to see those banners in this video.
Oh hell, another channel to subscribe to. WELL done
Good video, super car guy, Thank you, enjoyed it a lot!
great narrative. but if you love wedges how about an austin princess........?
Wonderful. Enjoy.
Thst now on my dream car list
identikit euro box? you've put an identikit sound track under this video. Silence is golden
I sat in one at a car show about two weeks ago. That transmission though lol very different from my S2000
So the 10s videos on Fridays still?
Haha he's running not one but 2 80s Lotuses? He must be earning a fair bit doing that graffiti... :p
love this car
Hey, can you guys do a review of the Daihatsu Copen please? I just want to know if it is going to be a good first car or not. Thank you :]
Well also love some car like AE86 countach and also esprit
wedge shape for the win! shame there were no option to have the bumpers painted in the same colour as the rest of the car. Am I making any sense?
Yeah that makes sense. I guess it was an 80's style thing. The 90's Esprit was all one color, though.
i know how this guys feels! I hope I can get my hands on another dodge magnum
Hey car throttle, you should come at my house, we have plenty of cars, old and new, we have a Jaguar XKR-S Convertible, a Aston Martin Vanquish S(2005) , a corvette C1 (1960) , a Porsche 930 Turbo convertible, a Corvette C3 Stingray convertible, a Ford Mustang (1965) and a Range Rover evoque and the new Sport.
We will be there!
Each to their own. I drive my dream car as well - Mazda RX 8 -
This reminds me so much of a Petrolicious video
Amazing
Car throttle is awesome!!! And first...
Fantastic video, I love watching stuff like this that tells a story of someone having a strong, passionate connection to their car/cars. Great work!
It is difficult to hear him talk. I don't know if that's the audio condition or his voice, but I hear a lot of mumbling and can't really enjoy the video as a result. Maybe the music should be a bit quieter at times so theres a balance between the guy and the music?
Great video! :D
I almost died in an Esprit. 2002 Esprit V8 Twin Turbo. The driver wasn't the smartest.
I love lotus' also there my favorite
Car Throttle
Im almost 12 and i have a massive Nissan 240sx s13 hatchback addiction.
Iwant to buy one when i get 17 for 8000 euros. It costs 8k because its drift ready (i also like drifting)
Right now I'm 13 my car was willed down to me when my grandfather died it's a 1969 Chevy El Camino SS but sadly I can't drive it till I'm 16
I always loved Esprits but not the old ones.
I can understand his affection. ........it´s a dream, until you wake up and have to confront the poor part supply, then it becomes a nightmare.
I'm 22, I have a DeLorean, and that's my daily driver.
What's your spec/vin?
+Guy Rodger 3296. I have a couple videos of it. Not very updated anymore though.
I'm horribly atracted to Mazda RX-7 first nad second generation. Make's me wonder if I will be able to afford such car, bacause I'm actually just starting mine "adulthood". Anyway, nice work guys! It would be nice if You would like to link to this artist fanpage.
you don't like the 3rd gen FD from 1993-2002? i think that is one of the all time nicest cars on earth.
HeavenzBreaker Its so round. I like the "square" one more. :)
I got a 4-door CHEVROLET Cavalier. I plan to get a second one, CONVERTIBLE. ;)
The Esprit Turbo looks so much better.
I find RUclips car channels boring even though I'm a massive petrol head. With exception of this channel and SaabKyle04
i can't really hear him. mumbling too much, workable subtitles would be cool. but i do love the esprit. esprit V8 is my fav though.
Noooo. Must resist... Must sell my Lotus...
sudilos117 ill buy it
Watch and learn, Twilight.
This is like a funny English version of Drive.
The insurance.....?
He looks a lot like that kid out of one direction. Harry styles. Just a bit more pervy....
nice
Cus weight reduction bro?
Beutiful
So light,so petty, but needs more power,169 h.l...!!
Great video, but music doesn't do the trick.
Another Lotus addict, Glad to see he has it worse than me :)
Lol my dad had an 86 esprit
I mean lotus
Speak up man
Suttle voice
besides being a car for the ladies, what else does he do with it? oh well
Witty RUclips name uh you know what a brain is for? Durf. Stupid arse comment
one thing is to drive... another is to feel the driving edge in some sort of fashion. Be it one style or many at same time
Idiot.
KC Gaming ROFL. If a car isn't driven for real, the sensation is only great to go to work. That's ok, but at least admit it when it's the case. Definitly not the idiot here
he justifies the cost by saying he doesnt have a heroin habit? what a clueless muppet.
Clueless about what? The car addiction or the heroin addiction?
heroin addiction
It's a joke. Lighten up.
Isn't Loutus is for old asian guys
