I think the underside of the nail is pretty desensitized as it was exposed to the air and was dry. I once lost the entire nail after a traumatic event. It literally darkened and in 2/3 days it completely fell off pushed by the super tiny healty nail growing out of the root. It is as painful as losing a teeth during childhood. So not much.
I had something happen to me like this, my whole nail got ripped off, but it regrew, it looks like normal now! I was slightly surprised and also not when I saw it regrow back all the way.
One time my entire toe nail got stolen by a door :D Didnt hurt that much tbh. The healing hurt more than the impact. (felt like i stubbed my toe) Took about half a year to grow back.
When i was 3 or 4 i was bare foot outside and my brother was rollerskating, he rolled over my toe and my toe nail came off, it took 2 weeks to grow back, plus my mom put a bandaid on it, im fine now, its been 7 years
Had that happen to my toe after a large concrete block tipped over right onto it. 😩 And you got to love how useless RUclips is at dealing with bots... they develop algorithms to automatically delete comments for "wrong think" for the average Joe yet is incapable of dealing with basic copy/paste spam by bots....
