Good job on this video Heath. That adjustment is the unloading valve. Trying to run too much flow at high pressure kills the engine. Unloading that high volume gear set allows it to build pressure without stalling. Wolfe Ridge machines have the adjustment in the same location as the EM, and they are fully tightened and then set 1.5 turns out CCW at my shop... Just so you Wolfe Ridge guys have a good base line. Just make sure not to set this adjustment too high as it can cause damage to the engine long term.
Thank you Chris, I was actually researching this more today and learned how the unloading valve works. Pretty neat. I plan on doing a follow up video and appreciate the information, I’ll pass it along. Also going to pin this comment so Wolfe Ridge owners can see it as I didn’t have a WR to show in the video.

Yeah, that could be dangerous for sure. This doesn’t change the pressure, just changes the pressure that it switches to stage 2. If you set it too high it will simply stall your motor in stage one before kicking to stage 2.

Those adjustments must only be on expensive log splitters. I have a $1000 Huskee 20 Ton log splitter from Tractor Supply and there are no adjustments. It doesn't even have auto return, it's manual.
The adjustment takes 2 minutes and costs nothing. With these machines we can get easily split 1/3rd of a cord in 10 minutes which we sell for $150. So in you example we could easily split an extra $75 worth of wood per session. I’d say it’s well worth making the adjustment.
Making a pressure adjustment on ANY hydraulic system without using pressure gauges and adhering to manufacturers recommended pressure ranges is foolhardy to say the least.
I guess it’s a good thing I talked to both Andrew from Eastonmade and Bobby from All Wood to learn how to do this. Chris from Wolf Ridge also reached out and said they are done the same way.

Thank you Dan.
Lil off topic question if you don’t mind. Have you noticed a difference in rpm of all your splitters you have tested. Not splitting rpm just at operation rpm not splitting. And do you have idea how high the norm is?
I did put a tachometer on the Eastonmade 12-22 and on my buddies Wolfe Ridge Pro28C when we were comparing them and they were very close. However I don’t remember what rpm they were running at. I can check next time I run the 12-22.
@@hardworkingmanoutdoors cool thanks. My small 22 ton is not turned up very high. Makes me think it should be higher. But do I really need it to be lol.
Laser! Brilliant!
Thank you.
Man, that wood was a “Beech" to split 😂. I’ll be here all day…
Good tip though. I was going to say that you’ll have to change the channel to Harder Working Man now, but we know who does the real work 😂😂😂😂😂
Thanks Jason, we all know who the star of the show is lol.
@@hardworkingmanoutdoors we do! Classic move on the other video where you were chilling and having a drink. 🤣
Thanks, I thought it was a great way to get wood split lol.
How do you like that pro sizer
I really like it. It does have its drawbacks, needs to be charged, if you swap saws you either need more of them or re install, etc. but when it fits it’s a huge time and work saver.
I'm confused about why you put the tip of the bar against the piece of the wood you had just cut before you cut the next piece?
I have a firewood prosizer on the saw. It is a laser measuring device. You have to address the log the same every time and see where the laser hits.
Oh ok... it's been a number if years since I've been in the woods! I didn't realize they have something like that! Thanks for the information!
Great Video bud!
GOD BLESS YOU!!
😊🙏🏻❤️🕊
thanks for the video. i also like your idea with the laser. i normally use a measuring stick(takes time marking). are you using a gun mount laser? i tried amaOn for chainsaw lasers but to no avail
You’re welcome. The lazer is the Firewood Pro Sizer. They work great!
@@hardworkingmanoutdoors Thanks, i found the seller on etsy
Hmmm, might try this on my box store splatter
Let me know if they have an adjustment available. I was hoping to check one to see.
Very informative!👍👍
Thanks Jeremiah.
Did you make any video about the laser you have on your chainsaw? Any link also where I can buy one laser? Thank you so much in advance ❤️˘◡˘❤️
Here is a link to the video. It is called the firewood pro sizer.

@@hardworkingmanoutdoors Thank you so much I appreciate your time gonna watch now 😜
How much times does it really save, 2 seconds per cycle? 30 cycles would be only 1 min.
Seconds add up to minutes, minutes to hours, hours to days. It is a simple adjustment that takes 2 minutes and costs nothing. I’d say it’s worth it.
Great channel xx
Thank you Stewart.
I like uniform wood too , when I put up a stack , "it looks good" and stays up .
Definitely Michael, have a great day!
What happen if i turn to much i think my log splitter need adjustment but im afraid turn the thing lol
If you turn it too much the engine will sputter and stall while splitting a really tough round.
🎧🤪🎙️🫶 Thank you so much for sharing 🙏 I wishing you a beautiful day to you and all your viewers. Much Love Thierry ❤️˘◡˘❤️
You’re welcome and thank you.
You really need to get some PPE and learn how to run a saw properly. Nice kit though 👍
Thanks.
Those adjustments must only be on expensive log splitters. I have a $1000 Huskee 20 Ton log splitter from Tractor Supply and there are no adjustments.
It doesn't even have auto return, it's manual.
I know some box store splitters have the adjustment. It has been a flat blade screw on the ones I’ve seen.
Standing under the hydraulics?? Scary 😮
It’s a no, no but I tried to stay out from mostly.
Can u not judging the length of your nxt cut without holding your bar at the end of the log.
I’m using the firewood pro sizer I like all of my wood very close in length. Thanks for watching.
Camera woman make him sleep on the couch and he will call both the same and remain consistent.😅
I got rid of my couches so that’s never an issue 😂
ok so your saving 3 or 4 sec per round if you split 100 rounds in a session, you saved 400 sec 6 1/2 min no big deal
The adjustment takes 2 minutes and costs nothing. With these machines we can get easily split 1/3rd of a cord in 10 minutes which we sell for $150. So in you example we could easily split an extra $75 worth of wood per session. I’d say it’s well worth making the adjustment.
Cut closer to your saw
Closer to my saw?
Making a pressure adjustment on ANY hydraulic system without using pressure gauges and adhering to manufacturers recommended pressure ranges is foolhardy to say the least.
I guess it’s a good thing I talked to both Andrew from Eastonmade and Bobby from All Wood to learn how to do this. Chris from Wolf Ridge also reached out and said they are done the same way.

Thank you for watching. We have similar machines here, I just do not have one yet but would like to one day.
It's a jam nut
Thanks.

Thimk how much an ER visit will take out.
I normally wear my ppe but not 100% of the time.
Those safety glasses go on your face not your hat!!!
Very true, I forget sometimes.
Great day! It took you over 9 minutes to get the point of your title. SMH.
Thanks for watching.
Nice top rachel and and you 2 have nice day❤❤❤❤🙂🙂🙂🙂
Thanks Richard, I love that dress. Have a great day.
Hello Heath, Good explanation, Common issue with 2 stage pumps, definitely have yours adjusted correctly 👏🪵👍🏼🇺🇸
Thanks Larry, it makes a huge difference for sure. Now I need to figure out why my Kinetic splitter lacks so much power.
@@hardworkingmanoutdoors Heath, 1st check for belt slipping, next unnecessary safety junk, and look for Stupidity in the design, slack in the rack and pinion, as well as binding, Take Care 👍🏼🇺🇸
Thanks, we took it apart and it seemed right etc. it will be shown in an upcoming video.
Thanks for the good info Heath. I'll have to adjust mine and see what it does. 🔥🪵🇺🇸
Thanks Mike, let me know if it helps.
Excellent advice and video Heath ❤🪵👍😮
