Martin, I wish you a good recovery and that your pain disappears quickly. thank you for these beautiful photos, as usual. I see that in your country too, as in France, it is less and less easy to find a doctor for you heal, funny era. take care of yourself
Very nice photos! Thank you for the video and all the best for your health!
Amazing images, Martin. I am happy to have found your channel today.
Sending you get well thoughts. You are a warrior and an inspiration.
I love all your videos. I'm a fan. Take care Martin.
i learnt about 'Contre-Jour Lighting; when I joined the South Essex Camera Club age 16 in about 1952 ! There were some famous FRPS's there who befriended me ! When I joined the British ARMY ( RAMC) in 1955 My Mum and Dad had to collect my Prizes at the Annual Exhibition as i was in GERMANY ! When in UK I use to organise Army leave to co-incide with the Fortnightly Camera Club meetings !!
I wish you well Martin. Get well very soon.
Great to see you back in the frame that is my tablet.. wonderful insights into your artform as usual. A big thank you and keep doing those exercises, we need you out there shooting more inspiring images! 😊
Beautiful work❤❤❤❤
Sorry to hear of your back pain, Martin! I'm hoping for your full recovery quickly. Lovely photographs and inspiring chat about this subject, a form of photography close to my heart. Thank you!
Great images Martin, will certainly give this a try. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
Take care of yourself. Although I really enjoy watching your photography videos, Your health comes first. :)
Please d'nt conk out yet Martin, get well and thanks for all your video's and very useful information.
Those images are superb.
Sorry Martin, to hear of your back pain. I hope you will recover and get well soon. I wish you all the best and hope to see you soon in the next video!
Get well soon. Nice technique, good photos.
Mate I bust my back in my 20s laying concrete blocks in a shitty old Dewsbury cellar, from time to time ever since I knock the bugger up. I found a chiropractor who's played blinker with it now in my late 50s the back doing sound, you have my best wishes to yours right. Back pain is so debilitating no fun at all. Right onto the video what an Incredible selection of photographs hard to pick a winner they're all stunners, but the shot of the footy shirts on line across the terrace backs is pure genius, reminds me of the 70s back in Cas' on wash day, just a very atmospheric and historic image love it. All round cracking episode Martin hope you're back out at it asap. Regards Paul
God bless you, Mr. Hanson!!!
Your photos are absolutely beautiful. I learn something new from each of your videos- and I’ve been practicing (film and digital) photography for a long!
Fantastic photographs! You are an inspiration.
Striking images. Get well soon!
Love the photo's Martin! 🙂 Thank you for sharing this technique, its given me some much needed inspiration 🙂
Good episode, our eldest says a lot of my shots look like Alfred G Buckham, she bought me one of his prints, most of his work is contre-jour
Speedy recovery Martin! Take care!
Great images Martin - hope your back is better soon, I have a couple of prolapsed discs they are not funny 🙂- stay safe
My wife has something similar, yes, walking will improve the situation. She doesn't have back pain, just the nerve pain down the leg, right leg in her case. Get well soon!
I feel your pain, got a disc herniation from lifting and have now been sick for 5 months. Hurting like crazy in my lower back and down the right leg and makes me move like you do, just mirrored. Thanks for sharing and get well soon. Happy New Year!
That's terrible Martin! I slipped a disc in my neck in the spring and it was so bad I had trouble swallowing. I went to the emergency room here in the United States where they gave me prednisone steroids to knock down the inflammation so that things go back where they're supposed to. My disc was slipped 4mm on the MRI. On the fifth day of steroids and pain medication, along with exercises, it mostly went back and the nerve un-pinched. I also have a home traction device from ComfortTrac that made a world of difference. I continue to use it 3-4 times a week and the arthritis in my neck it doing much better.
I hope for your complete recovery. I had noted the absence of new content and I'm grateful you are on the mend and not worse off. Cheers.
Martin just had back surgery for a similar issue. Pain was terrible, after surgery, no pain. Thanks for the up-date, and keep walking. Hope you have a speedy recovery. You inspire so many people. Thanks for your videos.
Nice photos!
Martin - Get well soon, see you in good health.
I hope you get well soon, Martin. We don't mend as well as we did when we were younger. I saw a little post on Insta today, it read " you can get a prime minister a lot quicker these days than an appointment with a GP." Fifteen years ago, the samething happened to me on a day when I was out taking photographs. I bent down to pick up my camera bag, heard something click in my back and the most god awful pain I had ever experienced followed. God knows how I got myself to the car and home. I remember that I was soaked thorugh with sweat from the pain. The pain is still there, and the back has never been the same, even though I spend two years of physio and back clinic and all that. So make sure you get it sorted. Thanks for posting Martin.
Please please get well soon...I have been missing your videos.
Go see a chiropractor. Lovely photos and you have given me ideas. Have a Pentax lx camera, nice 35mm. Also have a Rollieflex 3.5 made around 1940, no light meter on it like yours. Exposure card on back in German. Takes beautiful photos with the Tessa lens. Hope you sought your back problems out soon and get back out there doing what you are good at, taking photos.
Get well soon, I know first hand how difficult it can be to be creative when dealing with pain.
Unfortunately, these problems are painful and persistent, my 30-year-old son and I also suffer from it, in short, all that remains is to row forward. Don't worry, even if they take a while, we'll still be waiting for your inspiring videos. We look forward to your speedy recovery. A greeting from Spain.
Bugger! Keep up the hard work (physio sucks but it is worth it) Martin and welcome back. A great video to ease us back in :)
Looking forward to see how you convert the Kodak. I have a 1A autographic that I may convert.
Get well soon, Martin. You're an inspiration.
Thank you, I am on the mend 🙃
All the Best and get well soon Martin ! ... Lovely inspiring photos in this video, you are a master of your craft, thankx for sharing and greetings from Germany !
So sorry to hear of your pain Martin, hopefully you will get well soon and bring us all more amazing brilliant videos.
I wish you all the best and an speedy recovery ❤️🩹
Martin, those were truly striking images. Beautifully rendered. I heard A.A. coming through your comments regarding how the print is (ideally) to be an expression of our felt experience. Your photographs definitely evoke a feeling in the viewer. And sorry about that back as many of us know how temporarily disabling it is. So go easy for now.
Wishing you all the best Martin. You’ll be back out and about in no time.
Get well soon Martin - your pictures are amazing and you videos are superb!!!
I was thinking about you Martin, and looked to see if you had by any chance posted a video, and there it was!! Thoroughly enjoyed it too! Absolutely wonderful set of images. Love photos taken into the light and you have inspired me to do more of it. I’ve always used a filter but will try without. Hope your back continues to mend.
Nice
Thank you for the update Martin. Wishing you the best from Texas and can't wait to see you shooting and walking again.
All the best to you, Martin! Greetings from Germany
I am watching this two weeks after the release and I hope that your already considerably better, Martin.
Thanks for sharing your photographic visions once again. Hope to see more soon.
Take care, Martin in Austria
Martin, nice to see you on here again and so sorry to hear about your back. As a fellow sufferer you have my utmost sympathy and I sincerely hope you’re fully recovered soon! All the best!
Best to you Martin and hope your back heals quickly and completely. Your shots were quite inspiring and gave me some ideas to try. Look forward to you getting out again.
Thank you
I've had back pain before but nothing as bad as that before , get well soon !
Looking forward to the resurrection of the box camera, I just resurrected mine, it's a 1904 model. Sticky shutter as well, I was able to free mine up with a very light application of sewing machine oil.
As for your back, I've had problems in the past, PT helps quite a bit for my lower back and I have an orthopedic surgeon who has been a godsend. Worst case is surgery, but even that isn't bad, I had a fusion done for my neck years ago and my only regret is not having it done sooner.
All the best and looking forward to your recovery and upcoming content.
Wow! Such beautiful pictures. Perfect craftmanship...
Hope you can climb the hills again soon...
Indeed, get well soon, because you are a first rate photographer craftsman! Such evocative images!
Get well soon Sir. And take good care of yourself. All the best from the Netherlands. As usual: great video plus magnificent images! Thanks a lot! PS, I loooooove Holgas, Dianas and self made pinhole cameras!
Sorry to hear of your back issue, but so happy to see you're on the mend! Beautiful images, as usual.
These things can happen so easily Martin. Hopefully you will soon make a full recovery and be able to get out and about as have been missing your content and words of wisdom.
Get well soon! Very inspiring seeing your images. It made me really want to get out of the house and try this myself purposely. I've done this from time to time already, but never thought of it as a technique of itself. Thank you very much!
Hope the back gets better Martin. All the best.
Hope that you are better very soon Martin, your videos are very informative and inspiring.
Don’t give up! I hope you’ll feel better soon! Good luck Martin. Anyway, great images!
Sorry to hear that you have been in a lot of pain. I do hope you make a full recovery.Stunning photographs. The one taken with the Rolleiflex 3.5f is so atmospheric a wonderful photograph. take it steady regards Geoff.
I stumped upon your channel while researching a medium format film camera and I'm happy for the discovery and subscribing to your channel. You have a wonderful eye for composition; you're prints are gorgeous. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
Great photo work and explanation; keep it up…get well soon…
Inspiring as always, stay safe Martin, love from Argentina!
I'm only in my 20s, but I've had the exact same sciatic pain you're describing. It took a round of steroids and constant stretching to get to go down, but I couldn't sleep for more than an hour at a time, couldn't walk, or sit too much for too long either until it cleared up. I'm glad you're on the up and up enough to get out and shoot, and to post videos too! Best wishes for you to recover even quicker!
First of all, I hope you’re on the mend!
Second, thanks for sharing your work on this style of photography. I was not aware of Contre Jour, or Fan Ho. I immediately went to his website, even before your video had ended. His portfolio is incredible. Thanks for introducing us to him. Get well soon!
Excellent as always, and glad to hear that you're on the mend. I'm really looking forward to seeing how you go about reviving the old Kodak cameras. I hope you'll be kind enough to show what you do, and how you do it.
You've taken some great shots.Get back to taking some more video's.
Praying for you.
Życzę Panu szybkiego powrotu do zdrowia i fotograficznych plenerów. Iwo Świątkowski
I can sympathise with you Martin. For many years I suffered from problems caused by pressure on my sciatic nerves in my back. It isn't much fun. I eventually had an operation to relieve the problem and have been OK ever since.
I hope you get out and about again soon.
Hey Martin, hoping you're healing up and will be back soon!
I am, new video upload fir next week 😀
Been there with bad back injuries and still get it from time to time, its not good Martin, like you said try to keep mobile, hope you are better soon.
Best wishes for a speedy and full recovery. I love the photo of the rocks and sun taken with your Pentax LX. Really striking. I would love you to sell that one on eBay!
Thanks Wendy, contact me, I’m sure we could sort something out about a print , thanks
Hi
Martin i had a trapped nerve a few years ago and its not nice , get well soon 😊
Get your self a grain bag from the chemist, you warm it up in the microwave 2-3mins put on your back, Bliss. Keep moving and making your great videos, get well soon.
I have the same issue for years
Hi MARTIN --- I did a similar Video ' My Absence From RUclips' ' due to my EYE Operation ! I can Sympathise with you about Sciatic Pain !
Glad to see new content from you, sending prayers for a speedy recovery. What size film does the one camera take that you are going to have to convert?
Its 116 film size, quite big negative in length and just a tad bigger in width than 120 roll film
@@martinhensonphotography you can actually still purchase 116 film. The Film Photography Project offers color 116 film and Blue Moon Camera handles Ilford FP4 rolled in 116. It is however about $39 USD per roll for black and white and I think the color was around $26 a roll.
Thank Keith I will take a look at that
Get welll soon!...missing your great content....i have questoin, i have a voigtlander brilliant with extinction filter, do you know how to use these?..thanx
Sorry I don't know, I never owned one
Sorry to hear about your injury. It can happen after a very ordinary movement. Ask me how I know! Have you tried using a TENS machine for the pain?
Find and purchase a teeter table . This will work as it opens the spine and allows the bulge or sequestered area of the disc to be reabsorbed . Worked for my wife instead of surgery on femoral nerve damage which is far worse then sciatic types .
Also semi supination.
Anyway hope you get well soon 🙏
Sorry to hear that you have had some physical problems and that it has limited you getting out to do some shooting. A question about the exposures into the light: how best to meter? Would an incident meter be better? I have done some shooting into a light source but the results have not been that good. I get flare that I don't want on the side of the image. Is there a way to reduce that kind of flare? I do use a lens hood. Thanks.
I think the reflected metering will give the best effect but you might have to consider the intensity of the light and judge the amount of extra if any exposure compensation, to reduce flare shoot in the way I have said in the video , thanks
Martin, as a long term back sufferer you have my sympathy, I know that little, innocuous click in the lower back all too well. Get well soon. Looking forward to the next 'proper' video when you're out and about.
Get well sir go slow best to you sir.try topical ointment it may help.
Lie on your back on the floor with your arms beside you for an hour if you can
Sciatic pain is hell.
You cannot see a doctor you have got to be dying. I hope you are fully recovered.
