We make a similar Niuean Polo dish, same thing, corned beef with taro leaves and coconut cream, but no onions or tomatoes, we sometimes chuck in Sword Fish steaks instead of Corned beef,so good.
Omg 😍 that sounds freaking amazing! Would LOVE to try it one day. Reckon we’d be so into it! Thanks for watching and commenting on this one mate, hope you enjoyed it. Cheers, Sheena
This was very interesting and enjoyable, guys. I know very little about Polynesian cuisine other than Hawaiin. Have had plenty of Tongan and Samoan acquaintances/coworkers over the years but all made their way to the mainland via Hawaii. Lau lau (taro wrapped fish or pork) is one of my all-time favorite Hawaiian dishes so I would have been all in on the lu pulu! 😀 Surprised the potato salad was top choice for Thomas. 👍
So glad you enjoyed it Tosh! That lu pulu was wonderful. We would love to get to Hawaii one day to film. The market plate we ate in this video and the bbq plates that are offered at other Pacific Island eateries here remind me of the photos I’ve seen of bbq plates in Hawaii. It was neat filming this one- gave us more of an insight into areas of our city that we spend less time in. Can’t wait to keep exploring! Thanks for watching and commenting Tosh. Cheers, Sheena
Yes. The market plate is very reminiscent of a Hawaiian “Plate Lunch” (protein, rice and mac salad); a southern U.S. BBQ “meat combo,” and the less known “meat and three” which is super popular in Tennessee - protein plus three sides. They thought long and hard coming up with that name, eh? 😀
So happy you enjoyed it Kiran and that you were able to check out some Pacific Island dishes with us. Such a delicious day. Thanks for watching and commenting! Cheers, Sheena
It’s such a delicious treat! I had it again the other day and it was just as good! Thanks for watching and commenting mate, hope you enjoyed the video. Cheers, Sheena

Great video. Too often people who hope to visit our country are unaware of the rich multicultural dimentions New Zealand offers. Hopefully more people see your videos and choose to experience some of the lesser known cultural riches we have on offer when they do come. I went to the Nesian festival in Hamilton on Saturday with my family and we really enjoyed the happy atmosphere, delicious foods and beautiful culture. Cheers to all who went/participated.
Totally agree! We are so lucky to live in a country with such diversity. The festival sounds awesome- glad you had a great time. Thanks for watching and commenting, so glad you enjoyed it! Cheers, Sheena

@S K Pfffttt L.M.F.A.O Does that logic normally work?? Is it working now?? How do I know it's working on me?? And do you feel an overwhelming sense of ownership from behind your keyboard?? of course you don't lol and with your flawed logic, lack of intelligence and education, it's clear you're too spineless to feel anything but fear when standing next to a Polynesian lol. NZ 'is' the largest Polynesian Island before it was colonized, it is still the largest Polynesian Island today Lol and the best thing about facts... is that they 'are' undeniable lol So now you have my permission to excuse yourself as you're simply not an authority on the subject. Especially being from a nation of college dropouts like Australia Lol oi oi oi

Yokem! IDK if its made anywhere else in NZ, its a South Auckland classic! Looks like you’ve been away for a while? Yokem still being served up for those late night feeds after a few cold ones 😂 nothing changed out here. South Aucklands still the same 🤙🏽

Fun Fact: New Zealand has the largest concentrated population of Polynesian and Pacific Island cultures in the world - while NZ is the largest Polynesian Island in the Southern Hemisphere.
🙌🙌🙌
Thanks for watching and commenting Nemo- hope you enjoyed the video! We loved getting to share some of our Pacific Island favourites. Cheers, Sheena
The world's melting pot fr😊

Does that logic normally work??
Is it working now??
How do I know it's working on me??
And do you feel an overwhelming sense of ownership from behind your keyboard?? of course you don't lol and with your flawed logic, lack of intelligence and education, it's clear you're too spineless to feel anything but fear when standing next to a Polynesian lol.
NZ 'is' the largest Polynesian Island before it was colonized, it is still the largest Polynesian Island today Lol and the best thing about facts... is that they 'are' undeniable lol
So now you have my permission to excuse yourself as you're simply not an authority on the subject. Especially being from a nation of college dropouts like Australia Lol oi oi oi
@@Nemo-fq6mj you tell them!
I miss the food you can find just in Auckland, very hard to find in brizzy
We’re super lucky here eh- the food scene is bloody awesome. Thanks for watching and hope it’s not long before you can get back here for a feed! Cheers, Sheena

😆😆😆 know your limits eh eesha eesha 😂 I know exactly what you mean. There’s some things I have made once or twice like dumplings from scratch and it’s just a more enjoyable experience for everyone if we go for a big plate on Dominion Rd somewhere 😝 Is there much PI food over in Sydney? So happy you enjoyed this video, thanks for watching and commenting mate! Cheers, Sheena

Potatoe Salad,, Noodles, Rice, Fried Donut..... Carbs, Carbs, Carbs with a side of Protein if you will!!! The portion was massive very much Islanders; hospitable and make sure guests are well fed. Everything had my name all over it from the buns to the CAKES (lm all about the cake) and the yummy meal Thomas tucked into. Couldnt wait for the train to pass by though. What a great selection for this video, love watching how everything is made and appreciate that so much👍
