This is a fictionalized version of Historical story (Kashibai aka Priyanka Chopra & Mastani aka Deepika) never met in person as Kashibai was the wife and Mastani was the second wife of Bajirao Peshwa (Rachel would understand that no wife would meet the other woman, also it was royally not acceptable as she didn't appreciate her husband marry another woman). But Kashibai took care of Mastani's son as her own ..gave him royal training and love when Mastani died..

It is draped in a way that it looks more like pants - i.e. there is fabric in between the legs. it is also significantly longer than the other more popular saree that drapes more like a skirt. You could Google Maharashtrian saree and just saree images to see the difference for yourself.
