I'm in southern California (Carlsbad). It doesn't get too cold in our growing zone. What growing zone are you in and what kind of trees are you going to be growing in containers?
Greetings! Yes, I did make the planter box. This tree is coming up on 2 yrs growing in this container and is doing well. I read that avocados are highly susceptible to root rot, which is mostly caused by overwatering and pour draining soil. Please keep that in mind if you will be growing yours in a container. Years ago I almost lost a Mexicola avocado to root rot. I wound up changing most of the soil with better drainage and now its thriving. I wish you the best of luck with yours and thanks for watching.
Actually, I just harvested 1 yesterday. I have it ripening on the counter to see if the rest are ready for harvest. I had picked 1 a few months back, but it was still too early. Hopefully this last one I picked will ripen fine and I’ll be able to pick the rest. No flowers on my Hass. I do have a Mexicola that was in bloom earlier this year. It’s now starting to set a good amount of avocados. I’ll give an avocado update on my next video upload. Best of luck with your avocado!
I only use organic fertilizers. I use Kellogg Organic Plus Fruit Tree Fertilizer, 4-5-4 for my avocados. My avocado is a mature tree so I also apply Blood Meal once a year and I also apply a top soil dressing once a year. If you haven’t already done so, please search my channel for a video titled ” My 1st harvest off a Mexicola Avocado tree growing in a container.” In that video I talk about the top soil dressing for my avocados. Thanks for watching!
Wow this is amazing! Good job!❤️🪴
Glad you enjoyed the video. Thank you for visiting!
I was a non-believer, but you are definitely getting fruit. From a tree in a planter box, no less!
Tree is doing well. A squirrel got to some of the avocados, but still have several left on the tree.

You're welcome!
Where are you located? I just got a few trees and I am considering keeping then in containers due to cold weather.

Is this a dwarf variety ?
No, it is not a dwarf variety. Thank you for watching!
I’m very interested in growing avocados. I’m in Texas so we have different varieties than you guys in California. Did you made that planter box?

Did you harvest yet? Mine has lots of flowers since February 2021. I'm in San Diego.

How many gal pot is yours?
My avocado tree is in a tapered 24x24x24 wooden container. It’s equivalent to about 55 to 60 gallons.
Hi what type and brand of fertilizer are you using?

Is it grafted? Or grown from seed?
It is a grafted tree. It's doing well and close to being ready for harvest. I'll be posting a follow-up video soon. Thanks for watching!
