Yeah they left parts out of the power circut (a spring and ball bearing ) so this carb when installed will run rich anytime its operating on the main circut, idle should be fine but cruzing is gonna b rich.
I'll pass this (and your other helpful comments) along to the owner. The vehicle hasn't been in my possession in many years.

Thanks! I just rebuilt one of these and the truck seems to be starved for gas at full throttle. I’ve gone through all the timing and ignition stuff and back the thinking something is up with the carb. It idles great. On mine there was a bearing below that mystery screw you found at the bottom of the bowl. Did you have to go back and add a bearing? How did it work? Thank again for making this vid!
I did not. It works just fine!
That power piston is supposed to come down and open the power circuit by unseating a ball bearing and allowing more fuel into the main circuit , if your power piston is stuck (which def can b a prob) that won't happen and like you say the engine will be starved for fuel.
