Number 1 and 3 tested ok, However number 2 had a amp and a power supply issue. I don't think I can address either issue unfortunately. Thank for watching. Наука
@NorCal715 I agree with two posters here..... do a teardown of the PSU on either of the two working, PSU's get it on video, then refer to it later to get a parts list to make a quote. Maybe a 5 min task. Use hot air to warm the rubber pad to release the glue and leave half the screws in this time since you now know the heatsink and rubber pad separate from the pcb. You likely have the resistors already. A bit of a rabbit hole since you don't know what you will find if you replace the dead components, but not a total loss. You can check for shorts along the way. Some components can even come from your donor boards or salvage components you have removed from other dead boards. Even if SMD pads are heat affected you can easily solder blob or bodge-wire bridge them to better trace material with regard to the resistors. This is not a difficult fix visually. I had a Proscan LCD TV signal board from a customer that had a FET and 4 SMD resistors blown from a lightning strike. I had another similar generation RCA board as reference. Mine was waaaay more difficult since it had a thick aluminum heatsink/shield over top that was solder lugged to the pcb. Low melt solder, Antech 559, some wicking, a little hot air and I smoothly got in there and made my parts list. About $8 in parts I didn't have and about $.20 that I did have and all was well. Excellent and as always thorough diagnosis.
Nice diagnosis thank you 😊
Which connector powers the d illumination on the front of the speaker?
You can use the working amplifier power supply board to know the values of the burnt resistors and the IC number
OB2269CP
And you have at least one more intact one to use as a reference 😉
Hi, Good job, i have a DT Bp8080St, te board is deadth ypu have a video to repair, tanks
Maybe you already have this somewhere but do you mind posting models of the type of equipment you use in order to do this troubleshooting? I’ve been doing electronics repair a long time but I’ve not really gotten down to that much Board level repair and I’m really wanting to get into that. I have a lot of equipment already, but I’m looking more at the variac that you keep referring to the ESR tester, infrared camera, any other high-level equipment that you may be using. Thank you.
The ESR tester is the Anatek Blue ESR tester
In my power board neither 45 v nor +15 - 15 comes out, only 5v comes out. Can only the power board be replaced? What could it be replaced with?
Where do I send a DVD / VCR for repair?
Just to be fair, I love Def Tech speakers.
When they work, THEY WORK! Thanks Bill. Hope the 4000 is great again.
Would you buy a Def Tech product that has a power subwoofer?
You should know, when they work, THEY WORK!
TY..
For some reason my previous comment was deleted.
Keep trying!
