  • I unboxed the definitive technology BP9060 amp board and retested it for shutting off after a given length of time. I did verify the customers concern but without a diagram I do not think I can help him. Sorry.

    Probably a microprocessor fault.

Yep, once in awhile it just becomes to much time to find a crazy intermittent problem....
It becomes a money and time issue.
Could it be a chip, or an smd that changes value after time/heat..??
I wish I knew what was going on, but I never worked on many of those bass boomers.
    Good try otherwise Steve.

i dont know if you have any thermal imaging cameras....my thought is maybe something is getting to warm...or like i saw in another comment...microprocessor fault...it's a tricky one for sure

I did use the FLIR IR camera that I have and other than a couple of resistors in the power supply and slight warmth from the micro, nothing was abnormally warm.

There's a thermal sensor (TH1) on the SMPSU - is it getting hot and shutting the PSU down ??

Hey Steve. Have you tried thermal cycling the clock oscillator? I've had a couple become unstable, just above room temperature. When I moved my soldering tip near the XO, it would shut down the unit. It might be worth a try. Best of luck my friend.
    God bless!

Try to carefully remove the glue around the LFE Input after heating it up and check the components underneath it.
The glue might become conductive after sometime due to normal operational heat and cause that issue
Also try installing a temporary cooling fan to blow cooling air around the boards and run a test, if it works we'll after that then its definitely a component that change value when ot heats up as mentioned by anotherr comment.
Hope you can fix it soon!!

    protection mode

Protection mode would not act at exactly 20:00 (several times) from power up.

try to clean it with dish soap. maybe some oil or chemicals or grease that are causing the processor to go crazy. I just fixed the induction stove that has missing 5volt, I try to check every component but find nothing wrong with it. I clean the board for the last resorts. Bam!! it works without isu😅. I suspect the cpu is pulling down the 5volt reel and clamp it down because of the wired signal it receives from an unknown chemical that sits on the board.

Definitely beyond my tech skill set.
