Man I got mine delivered 1 hour after I left for work this morning haha. Luckily my girl is stay at home mom and signed off on package for me :) can't wait to get home!
I got mine delivered earlier but haven't opened it yet. Apparently some folks who have opened it and set it up is finding that it only have 6gb of ram instead of the advertised 8. If it doesn't come with what it is advertised then I won't bother opening it since it will be going back to razer for a refund.
@@TylerLeighTech I will be interested to know what your device says it has. I am hoping its just a software glitch and that it doesnt actuallyonly have 6gb of ram.
@@TylerLeighTech do you mind checking what your SOC shows as? There’s mixed results as to what they see from what I’ve read. Either shows 8 gen 1 or 888. Must be a hybrid of the 2, since the gen 1 also shared the same GPU. EDIT: I can't find supporting evidence of the GPU. Hmm, I wonder how we can get a good answer for this
@@TylerLeighTech I have contacted their support about it. Unfortunately, the person I got on chat didn't even know what the Razer Blade even is and said she will escalate it to higher support and will email me back in a day or two.
You can get the 5G version for $10/month including service for 3 years if you needed to upgrade your phone on a Do More or Get More Verizon plan. That price alone could make this the ultimate emulation device at a great price point.
There's been some debate as to what is inside. The Device Info apps are saying a Snapdragon 888 and 5.5GB of RAM with an Adreno 660. But, Razer is marketing it with a Snapdragon G3X Gen 1 chip with 8GB of RAM. Waiting on clarification from Razer to see what's going on with that.
Good question! I'm about to upload a video explaining the situation and my initial thoughts. I'm going to keep it for at least a week and then I'll decide.
Hey are you having any trouble with the nexus app? Mines is not the version with the kishi v2 remapping, and there is no play store updates because it gives me a incompatible message. Also steam link is a bit janky for me, compared to my phone. Some options like match desktop resolution are broken. I need to have steamlink change my pc resolution to 1920x1080 or it does weird things since my monitor is ultrawide.
man i have a razer store within an hour from me and i still havent gotten mine.. i pre ordered it but i didnt use the pre order code on checkout.. ugh disappointing tbh
I personally don't see the use case for this thing, not to be super negative. A Steam Deck plays PC games better, and TRULY anywhere. It emulates games nearly as well too, and can play some PS3 games. It's too big to be called a pocketable machine, so it's gonna be competing directly with it due to the size too. Otherwise I don't see why this is much better than just saving the 360 dollars to trade in your current phone to get a gaming phone for similar performance without thermal throttling. You also will have a nicer phone in the process! You can use this to stream games and play android games. Seems like an exceedingly niche product to me sadly.
You're 100% right honestly. It is a VERY niche product for a smaller subset of gamers. I personally use one because I have an older gaming PC and there are certain PC exclusive games that I enjoy playing on GeForce Now that aren't on console. And of course in addition to that I can have my console remote play and Luna/Xbox cloud gaming as well.
@@TylerLeighTech yeah that's fair honestly! Most people I've talked to that are buying this dont have a reason like that, and mostly talk about in home streaming. That's a pretty good reason to get it TBH!
Copy and pasted from a comment i made on reddit, it maybe niche but i know im not the only one in this boat Lol at the people who think theyre doing something saying "just get a steam deck". This is for someone like me who just wanted a emulation/ps2 only machine. Twice the storage of the deck and i didnt have to settle for a huge ass steam deck, with a subpar screen and worse battery life. The deck isnt for everybody for christs sake.
@@ultimategohan1551 my question is why do you only want PS2 then? The screen isnt that bad on the deck, you dont need more than 720P and IPS is fine, admittedly not the best. But you get SO MUCH MORE than PS2.
To each their own, my Pixel 7 cant play ps2 at the resolution i want without heat and throttling (most phones cant). Plus id rather have my phone be a... Phone and something strictly for gaming.
Dont feel bad. For someone like me who only wants emulation, i didnt have to settle for the comically large steam deck, and i get a much nicer amoled screen, better battery life and double the storage going with the edge.
@@ultimategohan1551 Then get a retroidpocket or ANY number of android based emulation devices. This is a mid range phone (at best) with a razer kishi on the back for a ridiculously stupid price. This is just razer trying to market last gen junk to "compete with vastly superior products". Did they give you this device. Is this sponsored by them?
@@RogueTides no i paid out of pocket, and might still return because theyre a shitty company and gave us 6gb ram instead of 8gb. I spent alot of time debating edge, odin pro, rp3+ etc. The edge is the only one can comfortably play ps2(i play ratchet and clank 1-4) MOSTLY very smooth at 2-3x res. Those other devices the 4th game wouldnt even be playable lol. And the chip inside isnt midrange, its around the ballpark of a 888+(old but not midrange), that chip throttles to all heck in smartphones, so at least the razer active cooling to have better sustained performance. The only thing better the edge at this moment is literally a modern gaming phone with active cooling/a better chip. Those are however usually more expensive than the edge and dont come with a $100 kishi/backbone.
@@TylerLeighTech tired of people making the "buy a steam deck instead" argument. Value is different for people. If you want a steam deck buy a steam deck, dont dictate how others should spend their money. For me personally, my wife owns a steam deck, switch oled and a switch light and while she can just slap on a kishi controller to her iphone 14 pro, she really dislikes killing her battery playing mobile games on her main daily driver so for her The Edge is perfect since it also has a bigger battery and active cooling. The ONLY thing im worried about the edge is how Razer supports the software longterm since to my understanding, this comes with an outdated version of android out of the box. I was already concerned about the 2gb of ram difference and have been doing my research on that rebadged sd 888 but i am hoping that with the active cooling and perhaps a factory overclock on razers part that this architecture performs better or as the targeted supposed "new" chipset despite what benchmarks are saying. Anyways just wanted to thank you for being non bias and being like other reviewers who got this device and laughs or scoffs at it. Im hoping that this whole ram and snapdragon debacle gets addressed with other channels as well because as much as i want this device for my wife, i much rather she gets her refund in the window of time alotted and gets something else. This device has the template to be something fantastic, im hoping that bigger widespread attention will force razer to admit they lied and come clean with the specs because right now, it feels like we are being cheated.

The 5G version is definitely a great deal if you have Verizon.
