    That skepta bar you were trying to understand is because d double e has a bar "it's me again, mess with me again and I'll put your life to an end"
    So skeppy is saying he goes to the ed hardy shop so often that he says to the shopkeeper "its me again"

    The reason you think the sounds used in the tunes are weird is because this is real grime. The whole point of early grime is that it literally sounded grimey, dirty, rugged and also energetic af. It was more than just music it was a lifestyle and counter-culture movement. The scene never actually named it grime, that was the name it was given when reported on by the media when it started to blow up.

      Sorry, I disagree. The DJs simply were not good at producing beats because most of them didn't come from the same culture as the rappers and were rhythm deficient.

    Firstly, really glad you appreciated this. This was a big moment in grime culture and a legendary set. Kano and ghetto were on another planet (skepta got left behind but at this point skepta was basically still a DJ). The end just shows the chemistry between them. They both knew eachother bars from both being in N.A.S.T.Y Crew together. Don't know if you caught that they were actually saying each others bars thats why they were laughing.
    The beat is Ruff Squad - Pied Piper and was a legendary beat used all over which is why dave used it on tiago silva.
    The beat at the beginning was Hypnotic by MR V which was a bassline track not a grime track and that flow by ghetts on is was mad.
    This video was the footage from that set but this video is the 30min full set. Worth a listen in your own time. Again kano and ghetts just start taking the piss

      Yea this really opened my eyes to the differences of how you guys even approach radio moments. Ghetts and Kano were going crazy Skepta tapped in for a second but the other two were just going ham. No, I did not catch that I just heard about NASTY and Roll Deep from these comments I'm responding to today lol.
      Now I know where that sound for Thiago Silva came from. I had to get a verse to that Pied Piper joint recording that this weekend if it sounds right I might drop it.
      What is baseline I've never even heard of this one? is it a sub-genre from over there?
      Ghetts flow is just crazy sometimes like how did you just string that shit together.

    They were spitting over Garage at the beginning. So that’s why it’s so different to you, as it’s not hip hop beats. Grime evolved from garage both 140bpm that’s why especially back then it was never considered hip hop. Take the mc’ing out can go to to a grime, dubstep, or garage rave with No MC’s the scene evolved from acid house in the 80’s. Uk hip hop had its own scene in 90’s 00’s 2 different genre’s.

      Jurnalist that line of MC’ing come from Jungle/Drum & Bass in early mid 90’s but the scene got too ghetto clubs stopped playing so a lot of people jumped on Garage and took those bass lines from jungle and that grimey sound to garage by the early 2000’s a lot of clubs were banning garage. All these MC’s Kano Wiley etc we’re all garage MC’s garage evolved into grime and dubstep at same time and also UK funky which was more house and garage sound. You should check out Shabba D and Skibbadee late 90’s sets to see jungle/drum & bass

    Last instrumentals called pied piper. Grime was a lot like bashment where a instrumental would be made by a producer and it would go around the scene for a lot of people to make there own versions to and to rap over to on radio sets like this. So not an official song but you can find the instrumental on you youtube. Just type in pied piper instrumental. Very classic beat

      @@Jurnalist_ grime was birthed from Jamaican dancehall, sound system clashing culture and UK garage. Having different artist on a version of one riddim has been a thing in Jamaican culture for decades, this was key to the start of grime, kept the competition levels high cos you can say what MC killed the beat better 🔥

      Yeah, but here's the thing. I heard Jamaican chattin and their sound system style. Garage, grime and none of that even remotely comes close to that sound. The only thing I hear Jamaican is the MCing style combined with US rap style in Grime. Also, all that drum and bass, jungle, etc...all of it derive from techno and house music in the USA. Europe took those styles and developed different sounds of music. The music lacked polyrhythmic drum sounds, the soul, funk, and some of the other Black music art forms that existed in original techno and house. That's because those musical genres didn't exist in European culture. So, you get more of a clash of beats and loud sounds without a melodic flow to it, a lack of complex rhythms, and lack synergy with beats. And that's what we are hearing as Americans.

  • @andyroo8uk685
    @andyroo8uk685 3 дня назад

    so the music is a mix of old school garge to bassline this was a different era of music from the uk was stuck between grime and garage

  • @jacklyneverage3881
    @jacklyneverage3881 2 месяца назад

    Honestly, those beats were problematic to say the least. They could have done their set without those beats. When I watch documentaries of early grime music, those beats sounded European because many of those DJs were palm colored Europeans and their beat game was just "off". I kept asking myself where were the Black Dj's? So few of them existed and they didn't reflect the Caribbean and African cultures they came from musically when producing beats.
