    It looks good however the x5 offers better tech, performance , quality and interior design. I stand to be corrected but I believe the x5 is more affordable compared to the merc, I hope you do a video on it too.

    Always the Merc. I know one real person that has an m4 - stage 2 wont poopoo that machine. But Mercedes is better than BMW objectively.

    Cars like these make very little sense these days. These cars are for people who really care about brand or badges. Is this car really 3 times the price of a Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max for example. I don't think so. I know they are not the same category but if you want an SUV with space why spend 3 times more even if you can afford it? Most people who drive SUVs won't even notice the differences a car person will notice like a different feel over bumps or less road noise because no car is bad enough these days to even notice a difference. For R2 million, this GLE needs to be more. It needs more standard tech and the 300d engine should be tossed.

      Have you driven the Tiggo at over 160kmph and the GLE at those speeds. Do that and come back and edit you comment. Enjoy your weekend, hope this doesn't get toxic. 👍🏽🙏🏽

      @@wandiletembe actually I have lol. I myself drive an E350. I know how solid German cars are at high speed. And I've also driven the Tiggo 8 extensively when I went from Joburg to Capetown with my friends in their Tiggo 8. At times when we overtook trucks, I'd barely notice that we were approaching 170kph. Seems like you're basing your comment off speculation. I have experience with it first hand. Thus my comment. And lastly, you can't even drive 160kph since it's above the legal speed limit. Thus it remains, this car is not worth 3 times more and is unnecessary. Even at 160kph.

    Once upon a time I would have agreed to your review but now Germans are way behind with offering standard equipment. They are overpriced and undervalued not worth it anymore. I’ve owned these cars for 18 years all brands will not buy anymore.

    The BMW is better than this whether we like it or not this car cannot compare to BMWs interior quality as the BMWs interior feels like strongly held together than the one in this car which isn as sturdy n intact as in the BMW.

  • @faizelphilander6938
    @faizelphilander6938 3 месяца назад +1

    The BMW is my choice. The reason therefore is because BMW's technology, interior, and exterior is better. So now comes the BIGGEST PROBLEM....... THE RIDICULOUS PRICE TAG BETWEEN THE TWO BRANDS. I remember before the facelift they were closely priced, but after the facelifts the Mercedes Benz had AN OUTRAGEOUS PRICE TAG(NOT JUST IN THE SUV RANGE AND I MEAN IN THE WHOLE MODEL RANGE. FROM THE SMALLEST BMW/ MERCEDES SUV UP TO THE TOP OF THE RANGE X7/GLS) Why would I want to pay R3.8mil. for a GLE 63 AMG as oppose to X5M COMPETITION R3.3 mil. I mean that R500 000(half a million rand) I can spend it on fuel a vacation and even consider buying another car with that kind of money. So in short I don't think that any Merc is worth it's ridiculous price tag it now make sense that it's global sales has declined, that tells you the story. I mean a 4 cylinder Merc SUV is more expensive then a 6 cylinder BMW SUV in the case of the X5/X6 and the GLE/GLE COUPE. Sorry no Merc for me I'll spend that EXTRA money more wisely.

  • @SDav21
    @SDav21 3 месяца назад +1

    The biggest let down of this car is the interior quality. It is really poor for the price and especially compared to the X5. The lower door panels are all hard plastic whereas in the X5, Q7, Range Rover etc it is all soft injection moulded plastic. Then the row of climate buttons that move when using it. One brand new one on the floor at the dealership didn't even have the rubber seals around the inside of the doors seated properly. It was rippled. And it was not the only one I saw like that. A used one I checked out looked so bad inside because of the cheap materials and the button that opens the centre armrest was stuck and wouldn't even open. This gen GLE is a flop and overall is really really bad quality.

    • @hawkmne
      @hawkmne 2 месяца назад +1

      you had the urge to leave multiple comments telling us how bad this GLE is. Maybe you just can't afford it and want to make yourself feel better about it? Comparing the quality to X5? Why dont you also compare metal buttons for rolling down windows on the GLE to the cheap plastic ones on the X5? Why not compare the back seat room as well? X5 is ridiculously small in the back for it's class and size, hell even VW Tiguan is roomier. X5 is a great car but when it comes to the beauty and elegance of both exterior and especially interior, nothing beats Mercedes in its class.

      @@hawkmne Lol. Not quite. I've been driving Mercedes for over 10 years. Still have my E350d which I love. What I don't like is how all new Mercs are very poor in material and build quality. It's disappointing and upsetting because the brand I loved has fallen so far. And also note, those window switches on the GLE are not metal. 😂. It's galvanised plastic. Plastic with an electrostatic layer of silver to make it look like metal. The window switches of the GLE feel cheap when pressing it. Whereas the X5s feel solid. The X5 is a way better SUV. In fact, every one of the competitors are better.

    • @hawkmne
      @hawkmne 2 месяца назад

      @@SDav21 Since when can plastic be galvanized? Electrostatic layer of silver? I guess you meant to say electroplated. Either way the switches are, at the very least, coated in metal (though they might even be full metal, I don't know what's your source of information), so they don't just look like metal, they feel like metal. They definitely don't feel cheap, you're just blatantly spitting lies. I own a 2018 GLC Coupe and I know that for a fact. The switches are much better looking and better feeling than on the X5. I will admit that the centre console of the car can be squeaky if you intentionally press on it (speaking about GLC as I believe the GLE doesn't have that problem) but you will never do it in a normal, every day use. Other than that the interior quality is excellent, never had any issues. It's also interesting how you didnt address the back seats on the X5 which is a major issue. Cashing out €100k+ for a car of that size only to have to squeeze in the back is a deal breaker for me. I guess it's just popular to hate on Mercedes just like it is to hate on the iPhone.

    • @SDav21
      @SDav21 Месяц назад

      @@hawkmne You know what I meant. Electroplated or whatever. It feels like plastic to me and it IS plastic coated in silver. If you want to know what real metal switches feel like, sit in a Bentley or Rolls Royce. I have. The switches on the merc feel mushy. Whereas old models have a very specific click feel to it. Which is why I say the X5s feel like better quality because it has the solid feel whereas the Mercs feel like some cheap toy when pressing it. The gle panels creak as much as any other new merc. The X5 isn't that much smaller in the back seats so that is irrelevant.

    • @hawkmne
      @hawkmne Месяц назад +1

      @@SDav21 plain plastic cannot feel nor look better than plastic coated in silver or whatever metal it is. The panels dont creek. The X5 is ridiculously small in the back for a vehicle of its class; It’s a night and day difference compared to the GLE
