Remember that even though auditors have been around for way over a decade now, you keep seeing the police arriving on scene and even though they can clearly see you are not breaking any law or committing any crime they insist on not only engaging you, they are giving orders to law abiding citizens. It's TOTAL TYRANNY. That's the bottom line.
"I can't make you look bad, only you can". Words for THEM to live by.
Officer "Right Here" was good as the cops go. Used a few fishing lures, but did OK.
@@flyingmachine7206 Fishing is just part of their job - they are supposed to do it, as long as they don't violate your rights. Just coming up to someone in a consensual encounter and asking a few questions is not bad. Even the act of refusing to answer questions, invoking his rights, and even being pre-prepared with a "Right Here" badge helps the police build a profile of him that he is likely an activist/auditor of some sort, as opposed to a disgruntled ex-employee or a terrorist planning something bad
@Requinix17 - Fishing is NOT part of the job of Law Enforcement. They MAKE it part of what they do, and include these techniques in their training.
Law Enforcement is about enforcing Laws. Feelings (Suspicion, Being Uncomfortable, Feeling Threatened when no threat has been made, etc.) can send the LEOs in the wrong direction.
If a law has been broken (evidence is required for this) then the crime should be investigated. They can bring a person into that investigation once they have RAS that the person committed that crime. This is why sometimes the Auditors may see the police, etc., drive by, stop by, or not even do that, but simply tell the RP that Auditors are within their rights to film in public.
It is wrong to investigate PEOPLE, to determine if what they are doing (have done) is a crime!!! This is regularly done, but is NOT the job of law enforcement at all. There are laws and policies that make that out of bounds!!!

When asked to identify themselves, why do cops ALWAYS have to look down at their shirt and swing their head back and forth, like they're discovering their name and badge number for the first time? Why not just look at the person who's asking the question and state their name and badge number? It's really not that difficult.

I agree. They all were great in my opinion. Especially, the woman cop. Even though she was fishing (her right to do) she was nice and professional. I like her. Cops still gotta do normal cop stuff. Unrelated but I’ve found the female cops tend to be even worse than the men at times, wonder why that is. Perhaps they’re really playing up the behavior they see from the men. Interesting dynamic nonetheless.
Thousands of videos later this is the first officer indicating she wants to go viral for doing something good. Many times its I don't care.

That indeed seems to be the norm! More often than not, Law Enforcement, whom you would hope would be attentive and "on the ball" are oblivious to the chaos, confusion and danger THEY create with their lack of cognitive decision making ability on something as simple as where to freakin' park. Amagansett Press is NOT a 1st amendment auditor. He hasn't done a real audit in over a year. He doesn't even call himself an auditor anymore. In his video's he calls himself a "street photographer", all of his and Ben's video's are labeled "street photography". First amendment audits are about GOVERNMENT accountability and transparency. Filming outside a private business is not a true 1A audit. Jason grew his channel with Post Office audits. AP has not done a post office video in over a year. He completely stopped auditing government buildings. I think his arrest scared him.
I really love the positive interactions. Makes me more grateful for the work auditors put in to effect change.

Damn, Sistrunk was a model officer, I see good things in her future. Fished, but reeled the line in quick without violating your rights. Not to mention she was a cool officer, and joked around sincerely unlike other officers who fake being cool, and then violate your rights. Great encounter, and her department should be proud. Officer Head just seemed to be along for the ride, and could learn something from Sistrunk. But she honored your rights as well. Great encounter
