Richey never done drugs and he really despised that..he was a depressive alcoholic who self harmed so yes he was messed up…even so in his worst states around the holy Bible era he was still reading 3 books per day apparently..I don’t think a drug addict could do that 😂
Agree that the music is uplifting.
But I think the track is about depression.
That's why he mentions Winston Churchill in one of the verses.
Churchill suffered from deep bouts of depression, and referred to it as the "Black Dog"
That's what I get from the song. A bit like Nick Drake's "Black eyed Dog".
Thanks for finally putting the Churchill line in context for me. The guitar part at the end is utterly sublime, I think.
Fabulous song, depression wrapped in a gorgeous melody.
Beautiful cat, of course featured in a song about dogs 😆
This whole album is a masterpiece 🌟
Such a great track!
One of the best albums ever made
Yeah this is a superb tune and was considered to be a single I think but in the end was just an album track..but this was also one of my fav songs of theirs..outro is awesome
1st album without Richie was Everything Must Go
Ryan's friend likes the Manic Street Preachers! Woohoo! 😁
Hello to Ryan's cat!
Loving the rabbit hole
You stole the sun from my heart next!! Ready for drowning etc
Wonderful.
It's probably a redundant quibble at this stage but you weren't wrong when you said TIMTTMY is the Manics first album without Richey. As the guy in your chat said it is the second album they recorded and released after his disappearance but the first entirely without his creative input as about half of the songs on 'Everything Must Go' (the 1st they RECORDED without him) were Richey penned lyrics.
Nobody loved you is my favourite track from this album.
This is my least favorite song from that album.
Sorry to hear that, I think it's gorgeous, hence my request. What's your fave from TIMT...?
@@murdockreviews don't think it's a bad song, for me the others on the album is just better with my favorite between the everlasting and if you tolerate...
@@francoisdewit8073 "The Everlasting" has been a bit of a grower for me. I always found it interesting/bold to start off the album with it. "If you tolerate..." indeed is untouchable.
Gosh, I should listen to the whole thing again soon.
@@murdockreviews this album was very important to me growing up but I think everything must go is probably their best.
@@francoisdewit8073 So tough. I was fresh out of school when this album dropped. I also love 'Everything Must Go', but I personally completely fell for the divisive follow-up 'Know Your Enemy'. If pressed, I'd say that's my favourite. A bit like their 'White Album' going into all directions at once.
