I found out about Sonic The Hedgehog SatAM around 2005 after getting into Sonic through Sonic Adventure 2 Battle. I watched Sonic SatAM in English and liked it and that's how I got into the Archie's Sonic comics too. I had to rely a lot on the odd scans and hearsay to follow their story until proper resources exist where you can read them now because they were only released in my country from 2012 to 2014.
I found Sally back in the day, with the cartoon SatAM, when I was a little kid. I loved that show and always wondered why the games were so childish when the cartoon was so mature. I didn't know Amy back then, I only knew her after Sonic Adventure, even if she existed way before that. I've read all the comics until it's cancelation. Even though I prefer Amy, I always loved Sally too, and hope that one day she can come back, even if it's only as a secondary characther. Let's see how this Rally4Sally turns out.

That's really sad and dark. She was a favorite character of mine and they just wronged her like that? Sally deserved so much better. She was a cool character and she had a great design. I don't even care if she and Sonic are a thing or not I just want her back :/
Si , mire a barbara Batgirl Ella originalmente era de la tv y ahora es unos de los personajes más amados de la batifamily Yes, look at Barbara Batgirl She was originally from TV and now she is one of the most beloved characters in the Batfamily.
Sally means a lot of things to a lot of different fans. Some saw her as a big sister figure, a source of comfort and security. Others viewed her as an attractive lead and were inspired to make lots of, shall we say, mature artwork over the years. Many saw in her a role model, someone who made the most of a bad situation and always kept the good of the world in sight. Even if SEGA no longer supports her and her friends, I think Sally and the Freedom Fighters will live on in the hearts of fans, and through their own characters inspired by these heroes of the 90s (incidentally, I've made such a character myself for a Smash Bros.-esque game my brother and I are developing). Sally will never truly be gone. And perhaps, one day out of the blue, she and her friends will make a surprise return that no one sees coming.
There needs to be a proper reboot or even a new series that brings back Sally and the other Freedom Fighters, and truly give them all a chance to shine again.
You might be interested to know about this vivid dream I had a while back involving a new Sonic continuity featuring Sally as a more traditional Zelda-like princess as well as a city built on a giant thousand year-old tree grown from a magic golden acorn, the namesake of the Acorn Kingdom. The dream also featured concept art of a volcanic island with machinery on it, which I took to be a hideout for Eggman/Robotnik.
When I saw voice actor legend Jim Cummings start speaking I was shocked. Not only was he Dr. Robotnik in the TV series, he did countless other rolls including Winnie the Pooh, and Tigger, as well Minsc from the Balder's Gate series "Go for the eyes boo!". He's literally done hundreds of roles, having his support is huge. Seeing that followed up by a number of others was also amazing!
@@Idazmi7 Indeed. :) Honestly was so hyped by Jim Cummings presence that I didn't really notice the names of the others to follow him. Was still like... HOLY SHIT!
Thank you so much for putting this video together. It's very interesting the way you put it together. What a melancholic-ly conflicting ending. The last 10 minutes had me feeling... I don't know. My heart
Small nitpick; the comics were co-produced as SatAM was being made; the mini-series from Archie debuted nearly a YEAR before SatAM in November of 1992. Also regarding Pender's.... epic screw up with Sally and Geoffery probably should have mentioned the Twitter revelation came YEARS after the fact; and both Archie and the fandom ignored his head-canon about her losing her virginity to Geoff. That said glad you included it because as squicky as it is; the story should be told just how awful Penders was to Sally, and in a lot of ways he also ruined any fan goodwill for Geoffery since he did have a following; not anymore.
Very true! I apologize! I did mention "After a short miniseries", I believe, which laid the foundation for Archie's Sonic and making a chapter of the comic series in 1992 would have been too short. I should have mentioned it during the Sonic SatAM chapter. Thank you for pointing that out to me! And I felt it was probably obvious that the tweets came in much later both from the date on said tweets and the fact Ken didn't have a twitter in 1995. I felt I did a sufficient job at showing Ken's 'abuse' towards Sally's character, but also not make it overly emotional and rude towards Ken. I wanted most of the video segments to be focused on Sally herself and I keep asking to avoid any harassment towards the people that are mentioned in this video.
@@DriftStar13 I don't think it's bad, but I do think that it can be even better with some double checking in a few areas. Such as why people like me don't like what the Super Genesis Wave did to Sally.
Amazing video! I can tell you put a lot of time into this as a labour of love :) I've had a soft spot for Sally as a character for a while so this was very interesting to watch and find out more about her, plus videos which go over more obscure parts of something is always fascinating to me. Overall a really good video, do you ever have plans to do anything else like this or was it a one off? Also on Rally4Sally: Sally makes a lot of sense to put into a video game, I feel like I can see how she would play and she's also an extremely well known character. While I won't get my hopes up hopefully Sega listens to the demand!
Very sweet of you to say! And yeah, Sally's story is interesting and obscure. I never saw anyone really delve into it aside from myself. I did consider narrating this video and another, though it already took multiple months for me to put this one together. The only logical events I could consider would be narrating in-comic events, however the comic is so expansive and hard to come by in my country that I'm not sure I can pull it off accurately, and I really want my content to be factually correct.
Unfortunately, they are all gone ...But let's be honest, if the fans manage to convince SEGA to put it and the others in the games, they will be villains (because they will hear the wrong fans...again) and that will not be good ...
3:58 If the people behind the game Sonic 2006 took the time to look at concept arts as to why Sally Acorn was not a human princess, perhaps Princess Elise would not have received negative fan base.
What they should do is make a solo Freedom Fighters game where you get to play as each character with a different ability and then they can do a crossover with the Sonic games.
for what i understand gray made the slap because is a hardcore sonamy shipper, his toxic twitter attitude makes me agree , alongside his fanbase of equally toxic supporters, also is believed that the mandates were in fact Flynn lies to keep the comics at this will since he always had a distaste of the archie own plot as seen on his fan comic sonic other m (though the mandates on the IDW to today seem legit)
I like sally, but i’d Prefer her to be in a different canon than the main series. If she’s in the games, that’s fine, I would just rather it be in a separate universe, since she doesn’t really fit the tone of the main games.
Oh, I must disagree to your notion, though your opinion is warranted. I personally feel that Sally's more serious nature bounces off characters quite well. While Sonally as a ship is awful, as friends Sonic and Sally are quite neat. She always brought out his more caring side which we never see anymore nowadays.
Oh, I never said she couldn’t interact with the other characters. I just meant if she was a part of the actual canon series. The other characters could still exist in a different timeline, and I think it would be interesting to see. I do understand your reasons though, just expressing myself.
Man I miss Sally. I wish she could come back some way but it's probably never going to happen. I heard the people behind Rally4Sally were not great people so I can't really support it anymore
I'm probably the only one, but I honestly wished that they had her in at least ONE of the video games. Like everyone else says, she was a really well written character. The best part about her was that even though she was a kickass Freedom Fighter, she didn't always have to be like that to be a strong, independent, female character. She was a perfect mix of a feminine, yet badass character. She also had an awesome backstory. That's what made her relationship with Sonic so good (and believable). They had their own personal struggles and strifes that they, more often than not, brought into the relationship. Plus, they both wanted what was best for their friends and family, let alone each other, even though they had different ways of wanting to do that. The relationship with Bunnie and Antoine was nice, but it worked too well. They had an absolutely perfect relationship which (let's be honest) doesn't exist. Same with Scourge and Fiona. Their relationship felt rushed. Anyway, should they have Sally in a game one day, I really hope that they stay true to the character she had comics.
If it does work, I volunteer to make a rough redesign for how she "could" look! I know the post-Genesis look is how most see her, but still. I got plenty of ideas!
@@Idazmi7 Plus, Amy Rose has already very much found herself in Sally Acorn's old leadership position in the IDW comics (because SonAmy fanbrat artist Jonathan Gray is creating those together with former Archie Sonic head writer Ian Flynn) that were spun off from Sonic Forces aka a poor man's _Sonic "SatAM"_ wannabe using the current Sonic videogame roster line-up.
They need to bring Sally back, I don't care how many lawyers it'd take, bring her back into the IDWverse. Consider the SonAmy people will face Surge the Tenrec as a likely new threat. But I'm sure Surge's fan base won't care if she's pushed as bisexual to mess with Sonic's head. That should be a cue to bring back Sally into the IDWverse. Since Amy has something else to concentrate. Think about it.
Awesome work! :-) Elaborated in great detail. I'm just confused that you call the bad guy Dr. Eggman instead of Dr. Robotnik, especially as someone who prefers the American side of Sonic, but it's alright.
@@DriftStar13 Not really. Yuji Naka himself stated in a 2010 interview that Robotnik is still, in fact, the mustachioed evil genius'/would-be-dictator's real family name, with "Eggman" merely an insult from Sonic targeting his rotund nemesis' body shape & generalized egg motif that stuck with Japanese audiences more than Robotnik did, especially once the mad doctor's schemes drifted away from turning Sonic's friends into living batteries to power his various machines (similar to the animated series concept of Roboticization that found its way into the spin-off comics, with the final culmination of this showing up in the tragically unresolved Mecha Sally arc, which actually turned the horrific scenes of Sally getting Roboticized from the _Sonic SatAM_ episode "Sonic's Nightmare" into genuine comic canon, only this was now far worse than what even the cult classic cartoon could deal with, particularly once Sally was Roboticized & her body was disturbingly gutted -- her organic brain & biological internal organs were removed off-panel [although we do get information that she took a blowtorch to the face to take her apart] and subsequently replaced with an obedience chip grafted to her skull & an arsenal of weaponry embedded where her chest cavity used to be -- to become the personalized Weapon of Mass Destruction in service to Dr. Robotnik II/Robo-Robotnik/Dr. Eggman alone, with no chance of restoring Sally to her former self, since she had basically gotten killed). Yet, thanks to the comics being allowed to get away with unjustly bastardizing/railroading/defaming/degrading/disparaging her character to the point that ignorant, younger, or newer readers only saw Sally as an annoying hinderance rather than the strong independent female character she was supposed to be, nobody appeared to care when the Princess of Mobius died when they damn well should have! In effect, the temporarily short-lived 2nd Genesis Wave reboot version of Sally was only her in name only, largely because all of her prior years of character history had gotten deliberately erased during the hard reset & thanks to Ian Flynn's claims of a SEGA mandate actively prohibiting Sonic from being in an established romantic relationship anymore, SGW Sally was going to instead end up in a LGBT+ relationship with outed sentient A.I. Nicole, who had seemingly permanently shed her old handheld computer form to remain in her nanite symbiote holographic lynx body with synthetic polymer fibers added to simulate the sensations of physical feeling. Unfortunately though, the Freedom Fighters (Sally included) were still apparently wiped entirely from existence following the switch from Archie over to IDW, no doubt at SoJ's gleeful behest, since they've wanted to purge Sonic of his original American localization ever since they internalized the videogames in 1998, but had been resentful towards SoA dating all the way back to 1995, but the future Sonic Team couldn't really effect the franchise completely until a few years later with the post-1998 "Modern" redesigns & purposely trying to delete all memories of Sonic as an inherently Western -- predominately American -- character & brand from the franchise in favor of their pro-Japanese take on the material.
@@labronthesuperninjayasin2203 Both Yuji Naka & Nauto Oshima, Sonic's definitive creators, although Japanese themselves, have both confirmed that "Sonic was created in the image & spirit of the United States" & before their departures from SEGA, stated "internally, Sonic is viewed as a Western property", so you are clearly wrong in your assessment. Although made by both Japanese & American people (with either all variations of the Sonic brand being canon in their own right or none of them ever truly being above the others, meaning the SEGA Genesis/MegaDrive videogames, the DiC cartoons [all 3 of them], the spin-off Archie Sonic comics, the "Stay Sonic" comic from Fleetway in the U.K., the OVA, the _Sonic X_ anime by TMS Entertainment, the _Sonic Boom_ CGI series, the IDW comics, the live-action film featuring a semi-realistic but still primarily anthropomorphic CGI Sonic battling a skinnier Dr. Robotnik portrayed by some contemporary celebrity meanwhile acclimating himself to our Earth despite still trying to return back to his reality [which I WILL refer to as Mobius, whether Sonic Team likes it or not, given how Sonic's already traveled to an alternative animated Earth before in the _Sonic X_ anime but had conveniently left his home world curiously unnamed potentially on-purpose to call to mind not just the prevailing concept of various alternative Earths lifted from other famous franchises with several differing realties -- i.e. the comic worlds from both DC & Marvel -- but also, existing as a likely unintentional callback to Mobius' existence in the DiC cartoons & Archie Sonic comic's essentially shared universe] and its forthcoming sequel, alongside the suspected Netflix streaming series presumably in-development are all equally valid initially officially recognized interpretations of the blue blur & the multi-verse world he inhabits [referred to as Mobius Prime in the Archie Sonic comics] before SoJ's petty jealousy ruined everything for everyone who actually happen to enjoy the quintessentially American parts of the Sonic brand), Sonic IS, himself, inherently American, not just in character or personality, but also in the core audience he was intended to target during his creation.
I know nothing about the Ken Penders controversy, but I sussed him out in my head for pansy behavior the moment I saw 16:47 (EDIT: the next para makes it kinda obvious why, but thanks to that, I immediately connected the dots at that point in the video. Not saying this to gloat, but to convey how disturbed I was). Seriously, as early as 1995, and we have what I feel is a self-insert that went official? It flew on, and it got away with it? Wow. My spider senses went off the moment I saw that. I was thinking "um, no". He didn't even try to be subtle about it. That tainted the whole picture for me. It's feels worse that I got this shock in seeing this after having read the comment that spoke of that Geoff person robbing Sally of...you know what. UGH. This sounds to me like the kind of person that would throw a hissyfit to the point of a legal tantrum. Sounds like someone that would fit right in with the betas (I hate using that word) at IGN. (If you want a concrete example of what I mean, watch The Amazing Lucas's video on IGN regarding Call of Duty)
@@DriftStar13 Can practice, and record audio in short segments and add them together. Accents aren't bad, unless you are hard to understand, but you have all of the text already written so it shouldn't be a problem as there are already subtitles available.
I feel that is a great task. While I can chroncle the major beats of what happened to Sally it'd take a whole lot longer to chronicle the entirety of the comics. Unlike with Sally specifically, multiple videos on Archie Sonic's history have already been made. I found a drought in factual information about Sally and wanted to chime in for the sake of #Rally4Sally. Perhaps I'll talk about my own ideas sometime, but I have to say that talking about Sonic stresses me out and I want to distance myself from it asap when the campaign ends.
You made an understandable but still noticeable error. _Sonic Spinball_ was released on the Mega Drive not the Master System. Mega Drive was the one also known as the Genesis here in the West. While the Master System _did_ get a port of it, it was only in 1994, 1 year after the Genesis/Mega Drive and Game Gear releases. As for the statutory argument with Geoffrey, Since Sally got her vest in Season 2 and Geoff didn’t show up until her miniseries, released in early 1995, then Sally’s declaration in the episode _Drood Henge_ that she is 17 would mean that Geoff would a 20 year old flirting with a 17 year old, not a 16yr old. Let’s also not forget an early issue of the comic featured her celebrating a birthday and Sonic list a year in space after the Xorda attack when Ken was still partially a writer for the comic iirc. Furthermore, while I just find their pairing in general to be a big Hell no, we don’t actually know the Age of Consent in the Kingdom of Acorn but here, in the USA, 16 states + 2 territoires have the AoC at 16, 6 are at 17, 17 are at 18, and Texas can’t figure out which. So, as unappealing as it is, by American standards, she was very likely old enough to willingly shag the skunk. Another thing was, did Penders ever actually state *when* he wanted to have her do the nasty with him? Be kinda premature for anyone to complain if it was a story that would have taken place a bit further down after she was a tad older since they did acknowledge time passages as stated above. Again, I’m not supporting such a pairing but it does seem like people are accusing it of being more than it actually qualifies as. Hershey was never a bounty hunter. She was just a citizen of Knothole duped into cutting Sally’s support rope by Drago.
Right! I was bound to make some mistakes since the only person that helped me fact-check had a meltdown over me referring to an early design of Sally as "a hedgehog". Thanks for the corrections! If I choose to come back to this video and dub it over I should address these.
RotMB fancanon: At first I wanted Plucky Duck of Tiny Toons fame to be Princess Sally's long lost son, but that would violate so many laws. So I rewrote it so Plucky is her long lost little brother. Robotnik threw him and six others into a void that sent them to Acme Acres in 1977. Plucky and those others were one year old at the time.
@@bradDark6941 They mean nothing, just like Chilidogs in games. It's just a throwback and nostalgia bait for the sake of old Sonic veterans when the fact they don't buy any of this shit coming from prolonged Sonamytard/Rosetard/SoJ's purist named Ian Flynn that he only wrote a shitty forgettable dialogue for the soulless story of Sonic: Frontiers aka Sonic: Frawn Tears.
Probably not. I was inspired because of Rally4Sally and because Sally is one of my favorite characters. This video took me months to make and I'm not sure if I can bring up the motivation again.
Of course she is. When did I ever say that she's not? Unfortunately, Modern Sally didn't have many extremely notable events occur to her before the comics ended. I only plan to include really major events, such as Sally nearly dying but SEGA demanding her to survive. This is not a documentary of in-universe events unless they affect real life, such as the "Slap" incident with Issue134. I'm sorry that you feel this way. I support Modern Sally. Why else do you think my icon is missing her fluffy cheeks?
@@DriftStar13 _"Of course she is. When did I ever say that she's not? (...)"_ You didn't have to say it yourself. Sally is cautious, strategic, and thoughtful: she uses her mind and her skills to make up for her lack of powers. She's also straight, always having been into dudes - especially Sonic. Your video provides all the evidence that Ian Flynn's "Sally" is an un-cautious lesbian with powers: a completely different character in personality, history, ability, sexuality, and everything else. _"(...) I support Modern Sally. Why else do you think my icon is missing her fluffy cheeks?"_ I don't know about you, but I'm rallying for *SALLY,* not Ian Flynn's fancharacter that stole her name. The Sally that was voiced by Kath Soucie, the Sally who plans ahead. The Sally who married Sonic in the future. Sega should take notes from Hasbro for their Transformers franchise. Embrace the other parts of the franchise besides the games and that includes the characters as well. They shouldn’t discard them like trash just because they weren’t game characters. They should bring them into the video games and make them belong there. If Crash Bandicoot is willing to acknowledge Rilla Roo twice in 2019’s Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fuelled and Christian Whitehead bringing back Team Hooligan in Sonic Mania, then Sega should do the same for them. At least for the ones they legally own and the Satam Freedom Fighters are owned by Sega directly.
Do you think SEGA of Japan is gonna listen to you? No. They're just ungrateful piece of inconsiderate jerking dipcraps that they wanted to make Sonic pro-Japanese and cutesy character when the fact that Oshima, Naka, and Kalinske feared of that. And look what's happening with the current state of SEGA as a whole (or should I say SEGA Corporation. Their stock is literally 3 dollars, and later on, their stock will be 70 cents much like IDW Publishing's). So, SEGA of Japan all can do is to say goodbye their dirty polluted pitiful work, and hello to the new management from SONY. On the final note, SONY will restore everything from the American creation of Sonic (yeah, you can make fun of SONY all you want, especially hearing the rumors of getting a reboot of Uncharted, so that y'all could discredit them. There are more shitty and greedy companies than SONY, such as EA, NINTENDON'T, APPLE, Microsoft, Nestle, Disney, WB, and others.)
What is that song on that satam section. That begins with "go supersonic"? Also love the video I had to pause several times to read but overall great job!
It's from a collection of unused Sonic SatAM OST that includes different versions of the intro. I originally used the main intro of the song, however it was copyrighted. I want to keep the video copyright free so I can avoid having ads placed on it.
Sega !!! You can't compare The Original 1st Generation Sonic Characters: Princess Sally !!! She cant be copied or replaced !!! Because She's a Original Character !!!!
@@DriftStar13 You mean Ricky the Squirrel (who was Sally's base template model used by SEGA of America to create Sally in 1991 before the 1992 release of Sonic 2, which introduced Sonic's best friend/adopted little brother/kid sister/unknown child prodigy Miles "Tails" Prower to the character roster). Flicky's the bluebird.
Ricky wasn't really intended to be an incarnation of Sally (male in Japan), that's just a name they took from the bible (which StC's Sally Acorn is heavily based from) so I wouldn't really connect it to the Princess since DiC created the Princess Sally we know and love from the SatAM cartoon. As for Amy, her debut was in April 1992 in the manga (interestingly, Charmy the Bee as well), but one of the developers for the Sonic games at the time (Ohshima) created her long before then for a game, her manga debut was a way to introduce the concept which is why they eventually redesigned Amy to her classic counterpart's design. God, I'm glad Ken left/got fired from Archie, what the hell was he thinking with Geoffrey?
I did not claim that Ricky was the same character as Sally. Sally Acorn is the squirrel Flicky with the red bow. Without a red bow, the Flicky is considered Ricky as known in Japan. The red-bow Flicky was no longer used after 1995 and only appeared again in the fanmade continuation of the Sonic The Comic series by Fleetway. As for Amy, I have not been able to find any solid information about Amy being created before 1992. Sonic was made in 1991, so it cannot be all that much sooner. The only character that I know was conceptualized in 1991 was Madonna. I do agree. While Ken Penders could write some good stories it all went over his head and he wrote some absolute garbage too, not to mention his stance towards Sally and his need to project personal matters and preferences into the story.
@@DriftStar13 I assumed that because you labeled it as the "creation of Sally Acorn", my mistake I thought people may attribute it to being our Sally. Also uh, I think you're confusing Flicky and Ricky there? As for Amy, "long before" was an exaggeration, we can only assume it was most likely somewhere in early 1992 since the manga's debut chapter of her old incarnation was April 1992 and Ohshima stating that she was conceptualized for the game first, though we don't know when that started and can only guess it was what I said above. I'm a bit jaded with Sega, but here's to seeing if they're willing to listen (I'd like to see Bunnie, but that may be pushing it, idk). Another note about Ken, I definitely didn't like that he inserted his personal life into the stories, that's why we got emotionally manipulative and objectively terrible fathers like Locke and Maximilian, ugh.
@@YouluC It's a bit of a joke. "Creation of Sally Acorn" refers to the localized character with a bow. It's followed by "Creation of Princess Sally" to keep the two apart, and since Sally was referred to only as Princess Sally at most during the early comics and the entirety of Sonic SatAM.
~Ricky wasn't really intended to be an incarnation of Sally~ Yes, he/she/it was. Remember, before 1998's overall internalization of the brand & current Sonic Team (which didn't really exist until the _Sonic Adventure_ games [those that begot the then-"Modern" redesigns for Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, & Amy Rose and made Sonic unable to swim from the 32-bit era onward in contrast to the water levels from the SEGA Genesis heyday]) aka SEGA of Japan (this unfortunately includes the new millennium [post-2000] departures of Sonic's REAL creators N. Oshima [who has stated numerous times on Twitter that Sonic, whose impatient wisenheimer personality he created, was inherently a creation specifically tailored for the American Western market strictly designed to rival competitor Nintendo's Super Mario franchise & more over, that he himself personally loved the American Sonic continuities] & Yuji Naka [the lead programmer, who created much of what retro gamers love about Classic Sonic as far as the 16-bit games were concerned & even admitted in a 2010 Facebook interview that the cautionary animal nature VS man-made machine premise that was an integral part of _Sonic "SatAM"_ as a concept legitimately was the very loose narrative thread originally intended when the Genesis games were first being developed] from SEGA outright) allowed for its petty jealousy towards its cult classic American branch to rear its ugly head, SEGA of America created the whole idea behind the Freedom Fighters/Team Freedom plot, of which the gender-bent Ricky localized officially as Sally Acorn played a key, viable part. SEGA of America itself directly made the 1991 press release comic in-house that showed the feminized Ricky depicted with the oversized bow on her head & even actually did cite her as Sally Acorn to coincide with the Sonic Bible that was developed around the same time alongside first run merchandise of the Mobian Princess, with all of these materials serving as part of very early promotional advertising for the forthcoming DiC cartoons & the spin-off Archie Sonic comics that would subsequently follow. Even the closing credits of _Sonic "SatAM"_ (1993-1994) duly reaffirm Sally & co. as SEGA creations, stating: *"All Characters & Names Licensed to SEGA of America(c)SEGA of America, 1992."*
@@TherealRNOwwfpooh @TherealRNO What I mean is that Ricky isn't a prototype of Princess Sally, which is why we still see him as he was always depicted. Take Sonic's concept from a rabbit (among other things) to the final hedgehog design. Saying it was inspiration is more accurate. Sally was originally depicted as a human/humanoid rather than squirrel. Ricky/Sally him/herself was still very much a critter that was localized as female from what I've seen Ricky/Sally from the bible was marketed to promote the games (she played little part like the rest of the animals). Wildbrain/DiC are the ones who took that loose concept and turned it into the princess version, same with what Sonic the Comic creators did with their version of Sally. Also, nobody was arguing that Sally and the FF's weren't Sega's properties.

I prefer Sonic Universe Sally over Archie Sally because; 1. She's fully clothed, making her appropriate for children. 2. She and Sonic are longer in love with her, but rather, they are friends/partners. This is good, because boys (who Sonic was made for) find romance icky and have little to no understanding of it. Having a cool female chipmunk fight alongside Sonic would delight so much more.
Are we still going with the clothed excuse? What's the difference between her and other cartoon characters like Fifi La Fume, Bugs Bunny, etc. It's a cartoon. :/ Yeah, I'm glad the romance is gone because it caused a lot of damage to her character, not just fandomwise but in the writing of the comics too. Also romance is icky. Then again, Sonic and Amy are on excellent terms in IDW Sonic so I dunno.

@@TimmyTheTinman "Not saying the Sally x Nicole is a bad thing" Changing anyone's established sexuality is a bad thing, especially when you're actually under contract to NOT change character personalities. Sega's mandates explicitly prohibit characters engaging in "activities which are inconsistent with character personality". That includes changing sexuality. Even more, Sega's copyright confirmed that they own Sally Acorn... but NOT Archie's reboot Sally, because they never condoned the changes. Sadly, I can't post the link here. "(...) but I think it was a wise thing to do after the whole Penders fiasco to start fresh with a different company. I mean how the hell do you lose somebody’s application I will never understand that." True: Archie was always incompetent. They were supposed to make the comics a tie-in to SatAM but miserably failed. In any case, that doesn't change that what the writers were doing - Penders AND Ian - was wrong.
@@TimmyTheTinman You mean the whole SEGA of Japan and Ian Flynn fiasco ass circus? Because they're the main reasons why Archie has no interests in negotiating a new contract with SEGA, unless a new company who has the ownership of SEGA Corporation that is none other than SONY, and it's more likely to be pleased with negotiating a contract with Archie Comics Publishing.
I say good riddance to all of the old American spinoffs, may they be fully forgotten and never taint mainline Sonic! Yeet them right down the memory hole!
Do YOU know Princess Sally? How did you find out about her and how do you feel about her?

She’s always had such an adorable design
@Horizont-Al I love Team Sea3on and their work

Pretty good job. I have no major corrections. Tragic we lost her.
Any small ones? I love feedback!
I think watching this video taught me to always proofread my essays.
It'll make long videos like these that go on for hours so much more airtight.
Oh? You think it is bad?
@@DriftStar13 I don't think it's bad, but I do think that it can be even better with some double checking in a few areas.

Sonic the Hedgehog SatAM is the best version of the Sonic world.
Unfortunately, they are all gone ...But let's be honest, if the fans manage to convince SEGA to put it and the others in the games, they will be villains (because they will hear the wrong fans...again) and that will not be good ...

This was wonderful! Justice for sally 🙏🙏

Don’t worry this campaign will work

Elaborated in great detail.
I'm just confused that you call the bad guy Dr. Eggman instead of Dr. Robotnik, especially as someone who prefers the American side of Sonic, but it's alright.
It's to make it simpler. I didn't feel like explaining that Ivo Robotnik was Dr. Eggman since that was effectively retconned later in the series.

What's the name of this song? @ 5:43, does anyone know??

Probably not. I was inspired because of Rally4Sally and because Sally is one of my favorite characters. This video took me months to make and I'm not sure if I can bring up the motivation again.
So, basically, the last version of Sally, the one with the arm-blades, isn't really Sally at all. Gotcha.
Of course she is. When did I ever say that she's not? Unfortunately, Modern Sally didn't have many extremely notable events occur to her before the comics ended. I only plan to include really major events, such as Sally nearly dying but SEGA demanding her to survive. @@DriftStar13
_"Of course she is. When did I ever say that she's not? (...)"_
You didn't have to say it yourself.
Why else do you think my icon is missing her fluffy cheeks?"_
I don't know about you, but I'm rallying for *SALLY,* not Ian Flynn's fancharacter that stole her name. The Sally that was voiced by Kath Soucie, the Sally who plans ahead. The Sally who married Sonic in the future. The Sally who was officially featured at Segaworld and who had actual licensed merchandise... and who has fluffy cheeks. I don't think my choice here is uncalled for.
@@Idazmi7 True, but... she could still have the arm blades, couldn't she? I think they're kind of cool and she seems talented with them.

On the final note, SONY will restore everything from the American creation of Sonic (yeah, you can make fun of SONY all you want, especially hearing the rumors of getting a reboot of Uncharted, so that y'all could discredit them. What is that song on that satam section. That begins with "go supersonic"? Also love the video I had to pause several times to read but overall great job!
Look up sonic satam unused ost, theirs a playlist of like 14 songs, it's one of them, they're all pretty good though

I actually got backlash for not including the Flicky that was originally named Sally Acorn initially.
Woaw
Waow!
Qual a trilha sonpra deste video???
0:00 Imagine there being some Sonic R era or Sonic CD type of Australian thematic intro. This would be it
Ricky wasn't really intended to be an incarnation of Sally (male in Japan), that's just a name they took from the bible (which StC's Sally Acorn is heavily based from) so I wouldn't really connect it to the Princess since DiC created the Princess Sally we know and love from the SatAM cartoon.
~Ricky wasn't really intended to be an incarnation of Sally~
Yes, he/she/it was.
Wildbrain/DiC are the ones who took that loose concept and turned it into
the princess version, same with what Sonic the Comic creators did with their version of Sally.
Also, nobody was arguing that Sally and the FF's weren't Sega's properties.

Hi.
I've sent you another new email because I don't want to withhold the news from you.
Because I have good news for you when it comes to Sally Acorn.
It is currently possible to vote in a poll on a Facebook group called First 4 Figures to have an official Sally figure made.
And this should then be officially licensed if the survey will be successful.
Link is in the email.
Have an awesome weekend.
I'd be more than hype if it came out, but ew Facebook.

What do you mean? Amy was inspired by the manga-character in 1992 and debuted in 1994's Sonic CD, did she not? Or was I inaccurate about the manga? If you have the time please elaborate on my error so I can put a disclaimer in the description to correct my mistake. Thanks! Amy rocks!

@@labronthesuperninjayasin2203 SEGA didn't even own Amy originally. Her mnaga publisher, Shogakuken, did. but i love it amy and sally
The show:p
I don't know why sally fans are so pissed off of what Penders said
that was no surprise Sally was jumping the whole village for years
I prefer Sonic Universe Sally over Archie Sally because;
Yeah, I'm glad the romance is gone because it caused a lot of damage to her character, not just fandomwise but in the writing of the comics too. Also romance is icky. Then again, Sonic and Amy are on excellent terms in IDW Sonic so I dunno.

"Not saying the Sally x Nicole is a bad thing"
Changing anyone's established sexuality is a bad thing, especially when you're actually under contract to NOT change character personalities.
I mean how the hell do you lose somebody’s application I will never understand that."
True: Archie was always incompetent. They were supposed to make the comics a tie-in to SatAM but miserably failed. In any case, that doesn't change that what the writers were doing - Penders AND Ian - was wrong.
Bisexual*
@@TimmyTheTinman You mean the whole SEGA of Japan and Ian Flynn fiasco ass circus? Because they're the main reasons why Archie has no interests in negotiating a new contract with SEGA, unless a new company who has the ownership of SEGA Corporation that is none other than SONY, and it's more likely to be pleased with negotiating a contract with Archie Comics Publishing.
