He wasn't like the usual owners who were thick-skulled and pig-ignorant, it was more just like he HAD to believe that his food was good because it was the last thing keeping him together.
We stan Tommy. Hope that king is doing okay
He was so lost and depressed, he was even doing the waiter's job but his wife is still in denial that the food is good.

Restaurant owner: we're failing, we need Gordon's help
Gordon: *critiques food to help them
Restaurant owners: our food is good.
I have tons of respect for Gordon for having to taste all the food he asks so he can get a fair opinion on it. I wouldn't want my mouth anything near the 'food' i saw in this video.
"I know my food is good"

I love when the waitstaff and/or owners actually taste the food with Gordon. It really puts some perspective that Gordon isn't just being snobby. I know from enough episodes that Gordon is always telling the truth but it really helps when even the waitstaff or owners agree.
