no matter how many times i see it i will forever feel absolutely gutted for the poor guy that spent 8 whole minutes making that salad only for it to backfire horribly
8 spent minutes making a salad is nothing. I spent 8 MONTHS tutoring an international student on the Verbal Reasoning section of the MCAT, with the expectation that he'd get close to a perfect score. He choked on test day and made me look bad in front of my colleagues, so I flipped his desk over when we saw each other again for his first class after getting his results back. Some students only learn from their mistakes when you become impassioned and grill them.

its like laziness or a cost thing I think. The ironic thing is that saving costs by making the food not fresh probably loses even more money by driving customers out the door never to come back.
Sometimes you want to make everything fresh but you can't because the business can't handle it. As you can see in kitchen nightmares La Riviera, Scotland. They were bleeding so much money running the restaurant to the ground
@C There’s a difference between careful budgeting but still making things fresh and spending a ludicrous amount of money on expensive ingredients when the clientele you’re looking for just aren’t there.
you lose more money freezing things and then throwing it away later than buying ingredients fresh, and you don't have customers because you serve shit food, it's really easy to understand.

I cracked up watching him. Kept thinking, someone get that poor guy a damp towel to support the bowl. I would feel bad for him, but it took him 8 minutes to make a Caesar salad. Tossing in dressing and plating should take no more than a minute, and the dressing takes like a minute and a half to two minutes.

Yeah it was funny at first but it's.. too funny to him. He knows it's bad and he's not the cook, but it reflects on him as well. He works there for years and is knowingly serving people shitty food. That takes a bit of dishonesty. It's not funny. He can go work elsewhere.

I love the waiters that just keep laughing. It’s pretty clear the only way they lasted so long at that restaurant is because they just laugh everything off. Their positive energy could get them a job at a much better restaurant.

I always liked the son in the last clip at the end. He wanted the restaurant to succeed, and wasn't afraid to admit its short comings with honesty, and call them out. I liked that episode.

He’s smoking something that’s for sure. Chefs usually do start food prep way before 11am, making sure everything is ready and making sure the kitchen is good too.

@@ZERO_O7X Depending on what it is and how it was frozen, the difference might not be noticeable. You'd be amazed at how much of the stuff in the grocery store is frozen at some point, it still is just fine.

In the first clip the reason Gordon is happy because he knows from first hand how it is. His younger brother was also a struggling addict so to Gordon’s brother and the man great staying off that killer
The industry is full of people struggling from addiction just because it's such a grueling and unfulfilling job in most work places. You're just forced to cook whatever the owner sees fit to put on the menu and are given no real input. I'm glad I got out of it honestly because it was making me hate my life and love for food. Now I truly enjoy cooking again because I do it out of the love of it.

I'm not even Italian and I feel insulted by all these "Italian restaurants" on this show. All the Italian people I know are so proud about their food, they could stab you in the eye with a fork if you cook pasta wrong, and then you have those lazy owners and "chefs" butchering such a great, delicious food. Disgusting.
There's Italian and then there's Italian-American. Big difference.
Italian-Americans that have a connection to the old country aren't the same as those who just say they're Italian because it's suddenly hip and exotic. Sadly, those first-generationers are going extinct and the only ones you see are the Jersey Shore types.

The one thing I've learned from watching so, so many different cooking videos is... don't rush your cooking/ dish. It's ok to deviate/make the recipe the way you like it. But don't rush it. Be patient. The results will be better if it's not rushed.

2:29 Damn, 3 weeks, that's a lot. Whether it was fake or real, wonder if it is on fully cooked state so the chef just heated it up or uncut raw ingredients. It just reminded me of one quote of hotel head chef I visited, "If it is not a [packed product] and already more than a [time] being frozen, you just better offer it for lunch yourself and the staffs on the next day." He would take the cost cut to his own wage by the base ingredients. But usually the hotel substituted it anyway.
i’ve realized by how many times gordon ramsey said something tasted like it was made weeks ago .. in the back of my mind i’m hoping they say like a couple days but i’m starting too wonder how many times i’ve ate weeks old shit from a restaurant and just simply couldn’t taste it 🙂
Don't worry, restaurants like this are incredibly rare, the chance you've eaten old food is next to nothing.
I worked in the restaurant industry for years. Food was fresh in every one! Never saw anything gross!
