I feel like it was perfect to give Thomas the finger as the black swan music is playing in the background. It’s like Emily was finally allowing her inner black swan out. Which if you don’t know the story of the ballet it is funny because in the ballet the black swan is know to be the temptress, sassy as she dances to the Spanish dance in the ballet, a bit of a show off, she comes in with a rough fire energy on stage as she dances the complete opposite to Odette . She deceives the prince but I also think the black swan is representing the part of pure desire which is then acted upon on which we see Emily do from this point on when she talks to Pierre.
