  • Typhoon Krathon has landed in Taiwan’s major port city of Kaohsiung, causing extreme flooding. The slow-moving typhoon is lashing southern Taiwan with heavy rain and winds up to 78 mph (125 kph). The storm has left 2 dead and more than 100 injured. It has also caused considerable damage to the power infrastructure, leaving 178,000 homes without electricity. This is the first time in 40 years that a storm this strong has hit Taiwan’s west coast. Schools and offices remain closed for a third consecutive day, with authorities warning people to stay indoors. Krathon is expected to weaken into a tropical depression before hitting the capital Taipei this weekend.

@@dash-2112 Taiwan and the China that is widely discussed today are different concepts.
I live in Taiwan and do not hold the citizenship of the People's Republic of China; instead, we possess the identity of the Republic of China (Taiwan), which gives us the right to vote and choose our own national leaders.
At this moment, we prefer to be called Taiwanese rather than Chinese on the international stage.
Thank you, and have a great day!
