- This version of "Night's Blood" comes from the recording of a rehearsal we recorded before the live in Stockholm back in 2004.
The tuning is D G C F.
This came as a request but I've been thinking of doing this track for quite a while.
Enjoy! - Видеоклипы
Saw you in Athens 2004, my most memorable live! -l- Dissection -l-
Yes, I remember this concert... The crowd was crazy 🤘🤘🤘
Oh that's so cool! Just found this as a huge Dissection fan, RUclips algorithms... 20 years ago already since I saw Dissection in Hengelo, Netherlands. It was amazing, thank you!
Thanks man! Oh yeah, I was there, I remember...
Lucky you being the bass grinder of the Legend.
Thanks man! But there is not much luck into that...
I sent a video since Jon was looking for a bass player. He liked it,... We talked..., we played together and it matched... And I'm proud of that ;)
Are you the guy who plays on the Dissection live DVD?? Awesome!
Thanks cool Dude! Yes, I am ;)
@@briceleclercq101 Any particular moment you remember vividly from this concert, or share what it was like working with Jon?
@@Bobbynou I remember the tension and the amount of people from all over the world (Japan, Chile, Norway, Germany etc...) as well as the chills I had at some points.
Working with Jon was actually pretty smooth since he was easy going...
@@briceleclercq101 Merci pour cette reponse. Quelle experience de l'avoir connu! Je te souhaite le meilleur, Brice!
@@Bobbynou Merci! Vous allez entendre parler de moi d'ici quelque temps ;)
I absolutely love D-standard tuning!
Nice! We did too back! ;) Yeah, The D tuning added some "darkness" to it... Which is always good!
Great playing! Nice to hear the intricacies of the bass lines. Hard to believe that amazing reunion show is over 20 years ago already. Time flies but those songs are immortal. Are you in a band at the moment?
Thank you man! Well, I'm literally about to launch my own band but 🤫
You'll be hearing about it very soon...
master of black métal band Dissection, you are enter the légende ,the last live Dissection, hail! Dissection
Thanks a lot man! Stay tuned because I'm about to launch my new band "FROM KAOS" ;)
Hey man, awesome bass tone, so kool you play with mighty Dissection!!!
What was your bass rig those years with the band?? The bass on Dissection was always a special part on the atmosphere of their music!
Thanks a lot man! Very appreciated🤘🤘🤘
It depends on the period but during Rebirth I used a Hartke combined with an Ibanez.
During the recording of Reinkaos & even live, I used an Ampeg with an handcrafted 5 strings Warwick from 87.
Nowadays, I use an old Ampeg SVT 350W that used to be owned by MAGMA's Bassist 😉
wow! This is priceless!
Thanx & you are welcome!
@@briceleclercq101 Yesterday, when I wrote that, I was, basically, speechless. What I wanted to say was that I couldn't believe that now I can learn those bass tracks from the man who played the bass in that live show from 2004 which is one of my favourite DVD's of all time, from the man himself! So, thank so much for uploading these videos, man. It means a lot. I've always loved your work in Dissection!
Thank you man! I appreciate the kind words@@P3KaX
Brice for your work in Dissection you are a black metal legend. Keep the black flame of black metal burning in your heart. Anti -cosmic metal of death. Hails!
Thanks for the support! You'll hear from me soon...
Surprised no one cared to ask, so here it goes. What do you think of Jon's actions taking into account you share his ideology? Thanks for the upload
You are welcome! I'm not really sure what you mean by "actions" but I suppose you are refering to Keillers Park in 97 and/or the suicide in 2006.
Regarding what he was convicted for, Jon has never revendicated what he did it as a "satanic act" of some sort and never was he proud of it either. He did what he did at the moment and paid his due to society by doing 10 years in prison. Nothing more, nothing less.
On Jon's suicide, he decided to end his life & certainly had the rights to do so as a satanist. That being said, I think that the reasons why he did what he did are more complicated than it seems...
@briceleclercq101 Indeed that's what I referred to. Thanks for your input
No idea you had a channel on here. Now I gotta watch all your vids! I love that you explain why you chose to cover each specific song in the description. Awesome performance on Dissection Live Rebirth and Reinkaos, and cool ZZ Top shirt!
Thank you very much for the comments man!
Thanks man!
One of the best songs ever!
You are very welcome!
@@briceleclercq101 Gonna try to think of something more ;), look forward to the next one!

It's nice to see you here Brice :) I'm jealous of you for getting the chance to meet and work with him man ;)) By the way, it was an excellent performance, just like at the rebirth of dissection concert ;)
Thanks man! I appreciate it! Were you at The Rebirth in Stockholm?
I would love to but unfortunately I wasn't there.. I just feel like I was there because I watched the concert DVD too many times to count ;)
@@YankYldz People don't realize, Stockholm was the first time we played together, ever!...
We were a lot better at the end of the european tour, I can garanty you that
@@briceleclercq101 I agree with you man, but the best quality videos people can find about dissection are on the rebirth of dissection dvd.. It's a pity that the other concerts you mentioned don't have videos, for example the midsummer massacre was a very tight concert!
Great job. I liked the playing you did with Dissection back then. Question though...
I know Jon played D standard live since the 90s. But did he ever express why he did so? Both Somberlain and Storm were recorded around the E standard tuning and then Reinkaos went as far down as C standard. Just curious.
Thank you very much Eduardo!
Good question... I can speak at least for the time I was in DISSECTION.
Jon & we thought that it sounded better played in D. Plus we had Reinkaos in the back of our heads, knowing we would record it with pretty low tuning. During the recording of Reinkaos we used different tunings depending on how "heavy" we wanted the track to sound...
@@briceleclercq101 Thank you for your answer, Brice.
@@aadigard85 Aaaah ok... Oui, je me rappelle de Paris
Hell yeah Brice....this kicks serious ass. Thanks for this one!
Thanks a lot Justin! It's nice to hear ;)
I love love the tone of the sub series Sterling bass . I have one with one pickups. How you like the 2 pickups? ❤you nailed it….
Well, me too!🤘 I need to get my hands on a standard musicman man... Soon I hope...
I chose 2 pickups because I needed a very a wide sound for my covers (I play any kind of music on bass...).
But honestly I wouldn't buy a HH again, I would stay on the standard single pick up now. It sounds great but single ones do too!
What color is yours?
Thank you for posting this. Subscribed
Thanks a lot for taking the time to leave a comment & subcribe! 🤘🤘🤘
Amazing!!🤘🤘
Thnaks man! I appreciate it! 🤘🤘🤘
Dude I literally just started recording a cover of this on guitars and vocals, ive been learning the song for like 2 weeks haha, the timing couldn't be more perfect. Now I can correct my shotty bass lines.
Cool! You are lucky! Good luck with recording these bass lines then!
so GOOD! always an inspiration! just a quick question, what strings do you use with this bass with the DGCF tuning? i noticed the neck looks shorter than your other bass. thank you again for recording and merry Christmas!
Thanks a bunch! Well, I don't bother too much with the strings but still I change them regularly and don't buy shitty ones... The last time I've used ROTOSOUND 45-105. It's not perfect honestly, I would rather recommand at least 110 on the E string when tuned in D, to avoid the "spaghetti" effect. But since I don't only play in D, I use regular gage otherwise it's too hard when tuned in E.
When it comes to the bass, it's seems shorter but it isn't. The Sterling has even more frets than the Squier but it may look shorter because of the headstock.
Fuck yes ! Great idea!
Thanks man! 🤘🤘🤘
🔥 muito foda
Great 🔥🔥🔥
Thanks! 🤘🤘🤘
Saw you guys when you came in Greece in 2004, amazing show. You played an Ibanez back then, right?
Thanks! Yes, I remember, we played Athens and Thessaloniki. That's right, I had an Ibanez back then and the bass is still alive and well. The french Band Khaos Dei bought it a while back I think...
@@briceleclercq101 great to hear this! I attended the gig in Thessaloniki; left totally blown away by the sheer precision and the overall atmosphere of your performance. Still've kept the poster of that gig somewhere. Cheers!
@@chaseexcellence7104 Thanks again! Yeah we were pretty tight back then... Keep the poster a little longer, it will probably be worth quite a lot of money in the future...
Epic! 🤘 I did an acoustic cover of this song, and it sounds great on acoustic too! 🤘
Thanks Sergey! Many of Dissection's songs can be played on acoustic!
@@briceleclercq101 Yep, bro! Btw, yesterday was a day when Reinkaos came out
I play guitar but recently went from playing guitar in a new project and assisting in writing guitar and bass parts, to being full time bassist since we couldn't find one in the area. Any advice on that transition? I don't want to write guitar parts on the bass and muddy the mix or step all over the guys playing guitar, but I also want interesting bass parts. Its been about 18 years since I played bass and that was contra bass in the HS orchestra.... lol
Well, I did the same thing back in the days (and so did Geezer Butler, Rex Brown and many others awesome bass players...). I was asked to play bass on an album and found out that I liked it better than playing guitar (I didn't like to play solos though, I played only rythm guitar). I play rather hard so it feIt like I could express myself better with a bass in my hands without being afraid of breaking a string (even if I did break strings many times on bass). I see bass as an essential bridge between the guitars (melodies) and the drums (rythm). I would recommand you to listen to music as much as possible and especially the bass. Listen carefully to tracks or bass tracks of players like Geezer Butler (Black Sabbath), Steve Harris (Iron Maiden), Bob Daisley (Ozzy Osbourne, Rainbow etc...), Jimmy Baine (DIO), Rex Brown (Pantera) and the list goes on and on... Try to play along and feel how they approach the thing. That is what I did at least...
@@briceleclercq101 sweet, yeah I will do that! Thanks🤟
Hi, Brice!
Great cover as always!
Could you cover something from Deathspell Omega? So many great songs to choose from so I leave you to choose the track. But maybe Abscission, The Shrine Of Mad Laughter or The Crackled Book Of Life would be good options!
Thanks a lot Albin! ( Är du svensk förresten ? )
I haven't listen to all the albums of DO but Paracletus is probably the one I know best. I first thought of Abscission but I feel more inspired by Apokatastasis Pantôn from the same album...
I can never garanty anything before playing/feeling it first...

This is really really amazing. Anyone who has played in Dissection is a legend in my mind! Can I ask : Jon talked in interviews about finding like minded people, spiritually/philosophically speaking, when he re-formed Dissection after prison. Can you say at all what it was like to be evaluated for Dissection? Was it any more or less than a simple audition that you were used to?
Thanks! Yes, it's all true. Before to even audition, Jon asked me to meet & talk about my vision of things in general.
The weekend after that, I auditioned...
Thanks so much!!! You rock!!
Great cover Brice can you also make a Frozen cover?
Thank you very much! Sure, I put it on my list. It's probably one of the easiest one as well...
Bravo Brice, tu tabasses ! (elle est facile je sais 😊 )

Great technique but 80's metal! You are better than that!
