Developed by both Epic Games and Digital Extremes and published by GT Interactive, Unreal Tournament was released for PC in November, 1999. The Game of the Year Edition includes all previously released expansion packs and was released in 2000. A multiplayer-focused game, Unreal Tournament is a classic fast-paced shooter with all types of game modes to enjoy. It's a also a very customizable experience and does offers a single player which is nothing to scoff at thanks to very compentent bots with high artifical intelligence that can be tweaked to your liking.

The spawn death usually happens when you increase the bot count above the recommended player count for any given level.
That makes sense
Yup, number of spawn points and the fact that bots never spawn before the player. If you play with extended bot numbers, you can get spawkilled 2-3 times in a row at the beginning of the match, without having a chance at doing anything.

I can't believe you forgot to mention that you can shoot a shock orb with the shock rifle for a huge explosion.
Also you can telefrag enemies with the Translocator.
Yes he forgot! And the minigun had a secondary fire mode which was firing slower but caused more damage and had less spread. I skipped a few parts, did he mention the awesome soundtrack (Foregone Destruction, Skyward Fire)?
None whatsoever.
Translocator was an ultimate (close quarters) weapon, by the way. It one shotted everything, and you could immediately know if you hit, 'cause the disk "stuck" to enemy model for a sec.
@@TrizZzle Actually in UT 99 secondary minigun fire mod was faster but less accurate. In ut2004 minigun 2nd fire mod was slower but stronger.
There was another version of monster hunt which included all the enemies from the original Unreal game which you had to fight in mass amounts (was also in unreal tournament 2004 and renamed to invasion) and still has active servers still running to this day.
UT2004 used a lot of UT99's mods to improve itself. And lots of UT2003's gametypes and 2004's were borrowed from UT99 mods and sometimes were more refined.
Bombing run is one of them. Invasion. The vehicle mods (for those who played neo cairo even if the vehicle rooster is more inspired by HALO)
However if there is a thing I totally hate with UT sequels is the removal of the ripper.
Also there is many ways to add better weapons than what we've got now (boring grenade launchers) I'm not saying GLs are bad, but the UT ones are, UT2004's meh, UT4's Meh too!
There are indeed HD textures, and they came with the original game on the 2nd CDROM - the S3TC texture-pack. I believe you can get those online nowadays - and with the DX10 renderer, they can be used in the game (where previously/originally it only worked on S3 based cards - but as S3TC got (I believe?) added in as DXTC for DirectX it should work now with updated renderer) So any somewhat recent GPU these days can use them - and I'd honestly recommend giving that a go. Completely agree that this is a gaming classic (but I am biased :) )

ChaosUT is another weapons pack that lets you equip more unique weapons, like a longsword, air gun, and the smiley face proxy mines, very fun!
The weapons Arena mutator mod lets you choose ANY weapon from the UT arsenal as well as other third party weapons, like Nali Weapons and ChaosUT! You can also play the weapons from Unreal 1, more replay value is to be found here!
You can add Unreal 4 ever here. there is other mods with some interesting guns like apoc weapons, marathon and a couple of other weapon mods.

For sure! Free for all and team modes were better in UT. But as a competitive 1v1 game Quake 3 CPMA mod was far better than UT in my opinion.
I can't make up my mind if I like Quake 3 or UT99 better. Both are amazing games.
Both are amazing games for different reasons.
Quake 3 has the better balance, while Unreal Tournament is a fun anything goes sandbox.

my opinion I honestly believe that the Unreal Tournament GOTY edition is the BEST FPS GAME EVER!!! It sets the golden standard and you cannot really call it “retro”. The best feature that I love about the game is its fast action speed and fluidity. Just that combination alone kept your adrenaline going. Other features I consider impressive where the astonishing graphics for its time and the variety of arenas themes. One of those themes you didn’t mention was what I called “land of giants” where you were a one-inch tall fighter facing other players in a garage, apartment, restaurant, back yard garden, or other similar locales; big fun. To add to that you have to give a huge loud cheer to the people who created the many mods, weapons, arenas and cool themes, and to those who set-up and maintained the servers. I’m glad to hear that it works great on Windows 10. I hope to have new gaming rig soon so I can go back and try the latest mods. Thanks again for the review and the memories.

Sadly Epic have no idea how to make UT great again (UT4 which is on hold has many crap ideas and no atmosphere)

OH MY GOD YES ! Like god damn the community could fucking make a better UT game and that was kinda the goal .If EPIC games could have 1 dev for UT the game wouldve been finished a while ago.

Edit: I understand now! Is this Nali Weapons 3 easy to download? And the Direct 3D 10 renderer you speak of, is it rocket science to download and apply or are the mods and renders easy to apply?

There is a couple of mods who adds one, Unreal 4 ever, Infiltration 2.79, Covert Forces, Night's Edge (with the mutator only who is standard UT compatible), Agent X, Chaos UT, Nightmare Realms which has a couple, Unreal Badlands, Marathon Rampancy, Sin2UT, PerUnreal and Combat Zone
This will always define the online multiplayer.

Also i got Timesplitters 2 for my PS2. It is the best fps i have ever played on PS2. Silky smooth framerate for a console and splitscreen working perfectly in coop and multiplayer.

Review is ok but real fan of UT notice that reviewer have averange knowledge of subject. I mean this review have nothing special but it usefull for peoples (kids) who never hear about UT. Millenials have never heard about UT and u did right thing to remind them what FPS dominate on the scene back in the days. I used to play with my clan in my beloved assault. This is my observations:
1) Actually translocator is a veapon. Try to translocate into a person = instant kill not mater how many healt u have or armour.
2) Dodging (straifing)is essential core of movement on UT. One glance of u re movement and i probobly say u re an easy target.
3) A.I. is not as good as u re saying. Is just mix of dodging + 90% of precise in aiming + constantly stealing of powerups. Simple test. Play with finall boss Xan. Try to dives Xan of powerups and use shock combos he will be harmless.
4) Impact hammer have second usefull attribute hammer jump. Usefull thing in assault.
5) When u talks about shock rifle u forget to say about shock combos.
6) Flac cannon can recoil bullets from walls. Usefull thing.
7) Bio rifle- most useless weapon.
8) U can actually shot from translocator to long distances. Shot with primary on radiolocator whit hammer. Especially usefull on CTF-Face.
Can't say there really were useless guns in the game. Fully charged bio rifle one-shotted anyone without a shield, making it a decent ambush weapon. It was rather useful for area denial too, on same terms as the ripper

normal good players dont spawn a lot of bots. Bots are a nuisance. the solution to you looking for objectives is simple... Learn maps...
