Glad I accidentally found your feed, all excellent info---im out in the Mojave Desert and it is important to be properly prepared! Absolutely excellent!
I had one of these set up on a 7gal air tank that fit between the wheel well and storage box in my tacoma. Had a 25 foot hose to reach the tires. It was a great setup. Sold it and now am outfitting a 4runner. I have the compressor in but thats it. Great compressor! Enjoyed your video
with the tank on empty it took about 7-8 minutes to air it up to 110psi. When I would start airing up my 265-70-15 toyo open country tires from 15 to 35psi. The tank lasted maybe 10 to 15 seconds and the compressor would kick on. With the pump running as I filled the tank and tires it was about 20 minutes of solid running. Of course it got hot but I dont think any worse then after running 2 minutes. I did this many many times and never had a single issue with the compressor. Thats why I went with another one in the 4runner. This time I plan on mounting a 3gal tank on the frame rail and the pump in the storage area in back. Yes it will be loud, But I am out of the runner when airing up anyways. Oh yea I run all my extra devices from a 2nd battery
I think that's a good idea! The wiring harness on this thing is the biggest drawback. All the other mods are not as necessary, I think...but the wiring in that thing is pretty wimpy.
I spent a lot of time researching the Viair stuff...it's all awesome stuff as far as I can tell...comes very highly recommended and it's affordable for what it is. I was originally planning on doing a full constant-duty OBA system at one point. When I read about the Q Industries compressor, I really wanted to give it a try. If nothing else, I thought it would make for a couple of good videos and a fun DIY project for the channel. As far as flexzilla stuff goes, everything in my garage is flexzilla. That stuff is awesome! Huge Fan! They make a coiled air hose that I thought about getting for this project, but for this setup the wiring harness is long enough to just put the air compressor right in front of the tire.
Flexzilla hoses are outstanding! I've got a bunch of them. Viair makes good stuff, I just wanted to test out one of the cheap ones and see how they do. So far, really well!
You stated that you changed out the internals. I would really like to know what relay you replaced it with and where did you purchase the replacement. Enjoyed the video thanks for sharing this.
If memory serves me, I picked up a good bosch relay from a local auto parts store. I didn't mess with any of the other internals (pump, rings, piston, etc) so they're all stock. I have a buddy that wants to build one of his own, so if he does, I'll do a build video.
Build is going well, I'm at a point where I'm really happy with my system and I need to do an update video. There's still two BIG pieces of hardware that I want to get in the future (Rack and Awning) but right now, I lack the financial means. I've been adventuring a lot, and I need to do an update video.
The 9 months your mom spent being pregnant with you after your dad drunkenly forgot to wear a condom were pretty worthless too, and there's still no point to that, so you can piss your dumb comments down your leg all you want.
Crimping the connectors is actually the better method as in a high-current (thus high-heat) situation the solder can melt and run out.

Thanks! How long did you run the air compressor? How did it hold up?

That's useful info! Thanks!

When is your next vid?!? Your videos have inspired me to turn my daily driver F-150 into an offroad-capable camping rig!
You've done a pretty good R&D well done
Thanks for the ideas in this video. I intend on replacing the power cord with a 12 gauge 12ft jumper cable and keep everything else stock.

Keep the vids coming....youve helped me tremendously with your tire video and would really love to see more of your mods
Thanks! I know, I need ot get some more videos out.
I just bought the same pump, first thing I do with all my compressors is take the pump apart and give everything a light coating of anti seize.
I've opted to use my viair air compressor in a fixed location and use a 25' flexilla air hose.

What’s the purpose of the Anderson connector?
I have enjoyed your videos, are you going to do anymore?
Yes! I need to, it's been way too long. I've got a bunch kicking around, I just haven't had the time lately.
Eventually! The rig is undergoing some pretty major overhauls...I'm going to do a walk around update video before the season let's out!
Dude...... you alive?
how long did you make your power cord?
~10'
What Anderson plug is this sb120?
Nice to know what the upgrades cost?

Overland Lab have you checked out my channel?
I don't see why anyone would want air tools offlroad when rechargeable tools are so good now.
first 5 minutes are worthless to watch, get to the point
