My sister and I used to know a family called the Krajecks(sp?) in Dequincy, LA back in the sixties who sent their children there. I don't know what the tuition or other student expenses were, but this family was quite prominent and money was no problem. As a total outsider, I get the impression that it's an exclusive school; very prestigious.
The joke when I went there was, "What is the difference between God and Fr. Hesburgh?". "God is always present at Notre Dame but Fr. Hesburgh is everywhere else." I loved it there except for the exam weeks in January and May. Also during lent. The faculty was less well known back in my day, but they still loved their work and the students. Go Irish.
