That’s so cool! I’ve never seen anything like it but then I’m no artist, unless you count nail art! It reminds me of the drag marble technique we nail artists use when doing nails. We lay down a base color on a nonstick surface roughly 2x the size of each nail then drop dots of other colors on each base square use a watermarbling, or pointed instrument of some kind (orange wood stick, dotting tool, needle) we drag the colors around each square until we make the desired design, top coat each decal, allow to almost dry, apply a sticky base coat to each nail, apply the decal over the base coat, remove the excess decal, use a brush dipped in acetone to melt the rest of the decal to the nail as well as clean up the excess, apply top coat over that, allow to dry & voila!- drag marble nails that look just like your scarves! Which are so gorgeous btw, I love them! We also use water marbling to do nail art but it’s a Little different you should look it up here on RUclips you might enjoy trying it out on your nails! I’m not very good at water marbling yet you have to be fast and have a light touch but I love to drag marble! It’s really fun and calming! Thanks for sharing this technique with us it’s just gorgeous & looks like a lot of fun!
Beautiful. Can’t believe you got any thumbs down. My Junior High School Gym teacher taught us all, “When you can do it ten times better, then you can criticize.”
I used to do paper marbling, and one tool we used was a rake. It's just a piece of wood as wide as the container that has finish nails in it. Depending on how much space you leave between the nails, you get different looks when you pull it through the dye. Also, google paper marbling to see how to make some interesting patterns. Amazing work, as usual!
Hi Amanda i am from Turkey ebru is one of our national art although only my mom does it and i don't have any skill on doing it i wanted to say your colors harmonie is perfect great work 👍

Good evening from Germany. I watched the video "My First Ebru Marbling Silk Scarves!" Saw it on youtube and was fascinated right away. It's just a pity that we don't find out which carrier medium is stirred into the water or whether it's just pure water where the colors are dripped on. Your work is incredible!! I think it is wonderful that your husband supports you in your endeavors. Mine did that when he was alive and it created a lot of interesting adventures for us. What type of dye do you use.
eye really want to try this but eye am curious if there is any specific type of ink or paint that would make the designs last longer on the scarves. its such a therapeutic form of art. eye really want to try it eye just dont want to invest on random inks and have it not work :( can some one help me with this!!
Can you use anything other than Carragreen as it has some bad side effects. Some scientists have presented evidence that carrageenan is highly inflammatory and toxic to the digestive tract, and claim that it may be reponsible for colitis, IBS, rheumatoid arthritis, and even colon cancer. Not sure how accurate. 👍
Very nice! I was wondering, what kind of paint did you use? Out of your experience, can I marbling silk chiffon as well? Thank you for sharing this video! I subscribed!
Does the paint go all the way through the scarf so you have a “painted surface “ on both sides? Looks like it just prints on the side you laid down on the size.
Thank you! yes, this is silk. I think you can use cotton but you'd have to research dyes and see if the same dye that works on silk would also work on cotton.
Thank you! I think you can also use cotton but you'd have to do some research on what dyes will work for each fabric. Not sure if they can be universally used.
So, my husband and I built a wooden frame (for painting), but I'm thinking I can turn that into a tray for marbling. Could I just make it all out of wood and then put the plastic sheeting in it? I was wondering if you made your tray. Thanks.
Thank you! My husband made the trough from some spare wood. I soaked the scarves in a dye set before dipping them. I've only done this a few times so still a lot of learning on y end on how to better protect these in the long run.
It turned out beatifull . Please keep trying. You really master it already. How do you thicken the water. what product do you use for that ? Is that plain water? Thanks for showing and sharing

Thank you. I followed instructions that came with the carrageenan for proportions. I rinsed out the fabric by hand but did not throw in the washer right away.
That's what's so great about this technique, you can make a scarf with just the cell designs if that's what you like. Just remove the step where you run the thing through the ink to marble it, and lay the silk.

I used carrageenan to thicken the water and I am using various dyes for the marbling.
Absolutely beautiful.
I would love to know how to do this.
Could I ask what you thicken the water with? Have you every used Dharma dyes?
Thank you! I used carrageenan to thicken the water. I have not used Dharma dyes.
Is it just water and alcohol inks. Amazing. How do you filter the previous ink to do another one. Thanks
It is water treated with carrageenan and silk dyes for the colors.

Search for fabric dyes. I used silk dyes in this but I believe there are other dyes for different types of clothe.

How many times can you use the same water? Thanks
I used mine a few times. I don't know how many you could use it for before the water become muddy from all of the dye.
Beautiful! Do you have an online store?
Thank you! Yes, I sell on Etsy: www.etsy.com/shop/AmandasDoodles?
Where do you buy your fabric? Looks like fun
I bought mine online from Dharma trading co.
Molto bello complimenti… posso chiederti dove hai trovato una vasca così grande dove immergere la seta?

Beautiful! How did you thicken the water?
great video
Thank you!
I would love to give it a try, but how did you do the tub? Did you thicken your whater with carragenan? What colors do you use for Silk?
My husband made the tub and yes used carrageenan for thickening the water.
Would the ink ruin in the washer or dryer?
No the fabric is treated so that the dye sets and isn't supposed to run.
Can u tell the thinner agent and paint u use
I mean thikning agent
I use carrageenan to thicken the water.

Hi, did you build your water table?
Yes it is just made out of wood, my husband made it for me.
Very nice! I was wondering, what kind of paint did you use? Out of your experience, can I marbling silk chiffon as well? Thank you for sharing this video! I subscribed!
This is dye for silk. Yes I think you could use silk chiffon.
Hello
Are you use only water ? Where can I buy the frame ? You did beautiful colors .
The water is thickened with carrageenan. My husband made the frame out of some scrap wood we had.
Can we use any kind of fabric?
Does the paint go all the way through the scarf so you have a “painted surface “ on both sides? Looks like it just prints on the side you laid down on the size.
I am using dye, not paint. Yes you can see the medium on the front and back.
@@amandasdesignsofficial thank you!
These are not dyes. These are Marbling Colors from Jacquard and these are paints not dyes. Unfortunately people get the terminology wrong !
Thank u, lovely !!is this pure silk? Can we use cotton???
Thank you! yes, this is silk. I think you can use cotton but you'd have to research dyes and see if the same dye that works on silk would also work on cotton.
After the scarf is pulled from the water bath what do you do? Set it with something? Iron? How do you make it "set"?
This is so beautiful! I love it! What kind of dye are you using?
I used dye for silk.
How do you thicken the water?
Carageenan.
How do you thicken the water? Scarves look nice
Thanks for your video, What is carrageenan? Are there any chemicals in the shops?
I purchased mine online, I am not sure if you'd fine them in stores. Carrageenan is just powdered sea weed, it thickens the water once mixed in.
can you do this with cotton fabric?
I believe you can but I think you'd have to look into dyes for cotton fabric instead of the silk dyes I am using.
Do you use carrageenan for the base.tgen put acrylic paint to do the marbeling
Yes I added carrageenan to the water to thicken it up. This was cloth dye.
Thank you I want to make silk marbled effect with carrageen
Did you put alum on the scarves?
Yes
PLEASE. TELL ME about your Tray!!! cost! did you make?
My husband made it out of wood.
What type of vat are you using? And where would someone purchase it?
This was a wood trough that my husband made for me. I couldn't find anything long enough to buy.
beautiful! besides silk, what other fabrics might you recommend?
Thank you! I think you can also use cotton but you'd have to do some research on what dyes will work for each fabric. Not sure if they can be universally used.
Beautiful
How many times can you reuse the water after skimming the surface between marblings?
I don't have an exact number; if you keep on skimming it, you can keep on using it.
Using Fabric Dye? Was the silk treated with a fixative? Is the silk scarf rinsed in a fixative?
Yes I treated the silk before using the dye.
Amazing! What kind of inks are they and what is the tub of water made from ?
Thank you. They are fabric dyes. The water is thickened with carrageenan.
Where do you get your silk from?
Watching this was a very beautiful experience. Where could I take a class to learn how to do this beautiful marbling?
Thank you so much 😀 I think you'll just have to do some googling to see if there are in person or online classes for marbling.
can you tell me more about the fabric and the water what did u but in the water to be thick thank u
I thickened the water with carageenan. The fabric is silk scarves.
What brand is the color used?
Jacquard dyes.
Did you use Alum? Only synthrapol? I thought the silk needed some prep.Thank you!
So, my husband and I built a wooden frame (for painting), but I'm thinking I can turn that into a tray for marbling. Could I just make it all out of wood and then put the plastic sheeting in it? I was wondering if you made your tray. Thanks.
Type of paints do you use for this?
These are dyes for cloth.
Beautiful ! How do you dry the scarf without it running? Do you stem the colours ?
Stem the colors? I am not familiar with that term. The ink sets pretty quickly so it doesn't run. At least I didn't have an issue with it running.
@@amandasdesignsofficial Steam…

How wild you thicken water?
Carrageenan
What is colour use
I used a variety of colors, red, yellow, white and purple.
These are wonderful! Did you have to set color in a Dye-Set after they dry? Also, where do you find such large troughs?
Thank you! My husband made the trough from some spare wood. I soaked the scarves in a dye set before dipping them. I've only done this a few times so still a lot of learning on y end on how to better protect these in the long run.
