    were you dipping the centre of the circles with the stick to sink excess paint? yesterday i tried marbling for the first time and a couple of mine didn't fully absorb the paint and it ran a little when lifting out the paper. Thanks!

      Sorry for the late response, I didn’t realize I had all these messages. We built our own trays from wood, painted them white and sealed them. They should be a few inches wider and longer than the items you plan to marble. They only need to be about 4-5” deep. Add a drain at one end to be able to more easily empty it.

    Good evening from Germany. I watched the video "My First Ebru Marbling Silk Scarves!" Saw it on youtube and was fascinated right away.
    It's just a pity that we don't find out which carrier medium is stirred into the water or whether it's just pure water where the colors are dripped on.
    I'm also interested in what colors you use for marbling? Are the colors mixed with water? Or is there something else for the colors?
    I look forward to hearing from you. Greetings from Germany

      Guten tag! I apologize for late response, I didn’t realize I had all these messages. It is not pure water, you need to thicken it with something like methyl cellulose. Dharma Trading in the US has a wealth of info on marbling supplies. There is also an online course you can take from Mayu Silk Arts, and I highly recommend these people, as they were my teachers!

      Nope. There is another lady on RUclips who also makes these scarves. She made some type of dipper instrument that holds the scarf flat. She also does live videos, so people can ask questions.

      Gee if you usually ask so nicely I cant imagine why no one helps you.
      I’m not sure where you’ve been looking because most of the videos I’ve seen have itemised everything, but in any case, You want the water to be “slightly” thickened. So you can use methyl cellulose(wallpaper paste), gelatine, or carageenan(Irish moss). Carrageenan is the traditional but requires prep, the others not so much.

    • @catzkeet4860
      @catzkeet4860 2 года назад +1

      Use any shallow tray that will hold liquid and is big enough for your proposed piece of fabric. For example, a flat plastic tote, a lipped baking tray etc. the shallower it is, the easier it is to apply your fabric. If you want to use rakes, you simply need to make them to fit your bath. They’re just slats of wood with nails at regular intervals, but, you don’t need them. You can do many patterns freehand with a skewer.

    • @cindystalnaker5108
      @cindystalnaker5108  2 года назад

      My husband and I made our trays from wood, then painted them, sealed them and caulked the seams. Add a drain at one of the short ends, so you can clean your trays out easier. Make the trays a couple inches wider and longer than the items you plan to marble. Any larger than that, you’re wasting consumables. If someone even makes them for sale online, I’m sure the shipping cost would be ridiculous!

      I’m not sure what this person is using but water based fabric paints would work, or silk paints too I’d imagine. Acrylic paint also works but I’m not sure how it’d go on silk, tho I’ve used it on cotton before.

    • @cindystalnaker5108

      Sorry for the late replies, just saw all these messages. I use a mixture of brands of water-based acrylic paints. You have to use quality paints and test everything, which is very time-consuming. Mayu Silk Arts offers an online class in all this, I highly recommend them.

    • @catzkeet4860
      @catzkeet4860 2 года назад +1

      You can use methyl cellulose(wallpaper paste), Gelatine, or agar agar. You just want the water gently thickened. In fact you can marble paper using water and thinned oil paint(not sure how that’d work with fabric tho….never tried it).

    Good afternoon, I need help, I'm trying to make a swirl or also known as marbeling, I've made great advances, I'm a luthier I would like to paint my guitars by immersion in water, I'll report my advances to simplify
    1-) water density: I have already achieved a good density with the following products: CMC, carrageenan and emulsifier (nestle)
    2: Paints: I managed to make the paints float and make drawings under these solutions already listed in the previous item, I have already used the following paints, food dyes, water-based paints, acrylic paints and special paints from the pebeo brand made for marbling
    3-) I can transfer my drawings perfectly to plain paper or potassium sulfate treated paper,
    4-) I need to make this happen on guitars that I have to apply a sealant base, I was told to use the white spray from the brand rust oleum ultracover 2x, I apply it on the wood, however unfortunately, every time I do the immersion in any of the paints the drawings are destroyed and run down the body of the guitar, they just don't stick.
    Please, I need to know which product to apply under the wood after I have applied the rust oleum base so that the designs remain on the guitar.
