Larry Dunn was iconic not only with E,W&F but his innovative side projects with Ronnie Laws, Caldera, and Stanley Turrentine to name a few, were outstanding. Larry is a true genius on keyboards.
Larry Dunn on the Fender is more like a cosmic stenographer than a keyboard player, transcribing the languages of spirit and soul and making them accessible to the human ear.
Youngins enter into the music business naive, thinking they know the craft. Then they meet the masters of the instruments. At that point they should realize that they have a long way to go. Salute to EWF.
Charles Stepney was a beast. He took them to the next level. All those album interludes were Charles idea. His classic arrangements are the entire side 4 of Gratitude and the Spirit album
Larry Dunn is a straight cool composer, arranger etc., Love to meet him. We're just a year apart.

Mr. Dunn should have did voice overs for an Adult Swim show! Heard he's going through some rough times. Hope you are well sir. Thank you for your talent!
Vernell Thomas,
Hey Mr. Thomas thank you for the comment about voiceovers, I actually do voiceovers, but I don’t know where the rough times thing came from? I have my own band with my wife and I ,13 piece. Stevie Wonder loved it so much she came out and sat in with us almost an hour a few years ago.

That's the man Larry Dunn, he should of stayed in da group , have of them left and now it's three how we use to say back in da day ah man LoL 🤗
Wow, he is the bomb, ewf had a smokin band, vocalists keyboard and the horns were out of this world, their music will be relevant forever, that kind of talent is missing today, i feel sorry for the kids today, their music is so subpar they have to go back to the 60,70 to really get that jewel called music.
I saw EWF about a month ago in Durham. I saw them a little over a year ago in Raleigh at a small venue called the Red Hat Amphitheater. They turned that show out with new material that was absolutely incredible. Their performance in Durham did not approach the Red Hat one. I think they are like other performers I like: depending on the audience and location, they can go deep funky or more middle of the like when they tour with Chicago. I wish the Red Hat performance had been recorded ... it was absolutely wonderful. I first met them at a friend's apartment in DC in the 70's. The whole group was crowded into an efficiency apartment. I remember them from the beginning.
Glenn French Yup! Saw them in ‘77-great performers. Maurice and Phillip’s voices blend like Lennon and McCartney’s...🏆 🎶
Genius
First I saw EWF they didn't have tbe horn section. Second time guitarist Johnny Graham doubled on trumpet with saxist Andrew Woolfork. Then they wrote tunes with great horn lines and strings and could afford horns!
I e been to california back in the day but it seem like I could get on my feet so I came back home it's so expensive to live out there is there something called a moog synthsizer???
Isn't that In The Stone at 3:20?

Back in the day, you needed actual talent and skills, today none required, just clever marketing and lots of tattoos and bizarre behavior.
