    I've a 4 month old frug, she refused to go into a crate. I've now got an 8 week old frenchie and she loves going in.

    My Frenchie does really well with going in and out but not so much once I walk away. Lots of biting at the door latch and stuff.

    I wish I had this video when I got my Bug (French Bulldog / Pug mix)! He's 11 now so too late to crate train I think.

      Steve - It Makes Sense Omgggg so cute!!! Crates are more for management (potty training/keeping them safe if they destroy stuff) so at 11 I don’t think there’s a need :)

    The Frenchie I am looking after is NOT food motivated. What other tricks can I try to get her to enjoy going into the crate?

    • @LisaGallegos
      @LisaGallegos  2 года назад

      Try the FOMO crate game. Put a bunch of his fav toys into the crate and close it and keep adding fun stuff into it. Purposely close it (reverse psychology) and wait till he claws to get in.
      Also, it’s not your dog so you can also just pick him up and put him in. The training you’re doing is kinda a waste if they’re just going to go back to what they always do when he goes back home.

    My second day w/5months old male. He was given with a big crate and he pees in it. I bought pads and he pee’s on pads. Not sure of next steps to get him peeing outside.

      The crate has to be smaller. Dogs won’t pee in their personal space so make their personal space smaller.

    • @LisaGallegos

      For potty training and to keep ‘em safe when you can’t keep your eye on em

      You can test out to see which works better! Sorry prob too late now - just seeing this comment! Hopefully you figured out what works best for you 🥰 some puppies do better being closer, others that stresses em out more

    No way I'm sticking my boy in a cage . For one he won't stand for it

    • @LisaGallegos
      @LisaGallegos  4 года назад +4

      If it’s not needed for your pup, then you don’t have to crate train. It’s more if your pup is destroying stuff or for young puppies who like to chew everything including wires. And for potty training.

      @@LisaGallegos actually he does need it but I can't do it .he'll start crying ♥️ he's starting to obey little by little so that's a good sign

    Why would you crate your frenchie just let her walk where ever she wants

    • @LisaGallegos
      @LisaGallegos  3 года назад

      That’s fine if they don’t chew wires and are potty trained!

  • @kevinreilly9482

    Should not be in a crate

    • @LisaGallegos
      @LisaGallegos  3 года назад +6

      Here’s the thing. Crates are TEMPORARY ways to manage potty training. Puppies get into stuff and it’s a safe way to keep them out of wires and other dangerous items while you run errands.
      Finally, every dog should be crate trained because at some point it is VERY likely they will HAVE to be crated. Like at the vet - which is already a stressful situation, and if they’re familiar w the crate then they won’t freak out as much.
      My dogs are older and so I don’t confine them in a crate anymore; however, I still have it w the door open because they like resting in there for their naps.
