Its so embarrasing I was about starting to cry as I realized that was my wonder years.. I am almost 40 and it hurts like hell to watch this.. I want to rewind..
Yeah I felt the same thing yesterday when I watched it for the first time since idk how long, probably early 2000s when it ended. Finished high school a long time ago now!! 2001.
It brings me back to elementary school. The show didn't end until I was halfway through middle school, but everyone connects this song to the 90s. Or at least I do.
@lawschoolpro I was a wee little chap in second grade when the show premiered, I guess I was in sixth grade when it ended. I'd love to go back to that time, too, but mostly because I never had health issues and was blissfully unaware of what time could do to me physically.
I was super young when it came out but in 1996.. I was 9 & I got hooked to the show Brings back so many amazing memories… Crazy how much a few words & a track can make you feel
Oh God, it makes me cry all the time. This song, this show, the location, the aestetichs, everything.. It's like I've lived, grown up, cried, laughed and cheered with them. All the time I watch the show or hear this song I feel nostalgic for someone else's memories and for places I've never seen, it is so hard to explain.. It just hits me right in the stomach. I wish I could go back to that time and place and just be there! Undoubtedly the best show ever made. Dawson's creek forever and ever. ❤️
Wow, talk about getting hit right in the nostalgia. I just have to respond so I can let you know how well you conveyed the feelings of every Dawson's Creek fan, especially me. That was beautiful, and based on this comment, you should have been a screenwriter on this show. You were probably too young, but I just love your comment
You’re not alone :/. It hurts. We relate to our lives at the time. Being their age just about I was kind of going through the same things. Now at 40 this is brutal soon as that song hits and the first “I don’t wanna wait “. It feels like a punch in the stomach but it’s amazing at the same time. The punch in the stomach is knowing it’s over and we can’t go back. I would of lived in the 90s and very early 2000s forever
I remember as a 30-something teacher getting into great conversations with my high school students over the whole Pacey-Dawson-Joey conundrum. I actually resisted this show as hard as I could but my teen daughters would casually have the show on when I got back from covering prep sports and finally one day I remember yelling at the screen, "Pacey, what are you doing?". I heard a laugh and their work was complete.
Sometimes it's hard to look at the future when the past gives you so many precious memories, sometimes I feel that the present doesn't exist, that we are a our past living in the future, because the present doesn't feel important until it becomes an important memory or an accomplished goal, it's difficult to define this... let's say it the purest form of saudade.

I'm almost 35 and I've just started rewatching the show on Netflix. I hadn't seen it since it aired in France (where I'm from). In all honesty, the show hasn't aged very well (or at least the first season, which I'm currently watching) but is still very enjoyable, if only for the nostalgia factor. Though initially thrown off by the "new" theme song, I'm slowly getting used to it. Of course, it will never be as iconic as Paula Cole's "I Don't Want To Wait".
This song is forever linked to this show and the late 90's for me...I had to comeback hear after going through hulu and not hearing it. Makes me want to dust off the dvds and watch it from that instead of hulu. Thanks for posting
fun fact: "run like mad" was the original opening soundtrack for season 1, and was disregarded on season 2. it was a more nostalgic song and was the reason behind why season 1 captured the curiosity of the audience. however, Paula's I don't wanna wait' hit was so popular back then, that is why they change it :)
I remember watching this as an 11 yr old asian boy and immigrant, and the intro always made me happy haha. I saw the trailer with the song and the song is drew me in. I still don't remember what that hell this series was about, but i will always remember this song and intro
Same. I think it's that this show represents a recent history that's gone with the wind. The 90's and early 00's were truly a different world, without all this technology and social media. That's why it seems so far away. Hard to think that only 15 years ago kids were being kids. We had no cell phones, no social media, a much more basic internet. Kids were spending their time outside with each other rather than making Tik Toks, playing fortnite, or worrying about what instagram photo to post. Everyone hates each other nowadays, the world is full of anger. This show represents a time when people really seemed happier. We were more focused on building meaningful relationships and seeing the beauty of the world, anything seemed possible. No one feels that way anymore. We are no longer genuine
@@XconnorX11 very accurate. Hanging out with friends for a good chat and a laugh was the norm. Phones were only attached to walls or tabletops in our homes. Taking pictures was a special experience. You had to take your films to the photo studio to get them developed and printed. Then take them home to look through with family and add to the family photo albums. Everything was a human experience back then. Now it's all run by machines with instant gratification. I'm glad at least part of my life was lived as a fully functioning human. No wonder so many young people today are depressed and have mental illnesses.
@@XconnorX11 damn, this hits too close to home. Those days really felt like it was all a dream. Really difficult to make genuine and personal connections nowadays
Not only do these themes songs make me nostalgic for the show, but it also makes me nostalgic for my childhood. I grew up in Wilmington and watching Dawson's Creek is like opening up a time capsule!
I'm watching on Hulu now and was waiting for this iconic song to come on. I had to skip through each 1st episode of each season and couldn't find it. Now I'm here 🤔
This series was popular here in Brazil in the late 90s when I was just 12. I've never seen it and yet I get goosebumps when I listen to the theme song. Maybe I'll watch it soon.
I have been rewatching Dawson's Creek on Netflix (my youth!), and I was so disappointed they didn't have the old theme song. I guess they don't have the rights to it or something. Had to come on here and look for it. So glad someone posted it! Thank you!
Thank you for making this. It's a crime this theme song isn't on the dvds and streams of the series. Cheap studio executives! Also, this does remain one of my favorite TV intros (LOVE seeing them altogether!!!!!). Whatever the flaws of the series, it ultimately is just what the opening shows it to be: idealistic and hopeful. More tv shows could be less cynical.
Ali DeLaine not true it has nothing to do with Hulu, the song also exist on the dvds as well. It was more so that they had the song and own the license to the newer version and wanted to let that version be heard, plus they wouldn't have to pay royalties for i don't want to wait. If you ever get a chance to own the dvds or blu ray the commentary gives a ton of insight
Love 90' where i every week looked forward the favorite tv shows and went to the video rental in the weekend to find out the latest movies. Now, just open the gadgets watch the movies anytime anywhere, its easy and simple but less memorable and attractive
Stuff means more when you have to wait for it. It does seem like HBO and even Netflix are starting to do once a week episodes instead of all 13 eps at once. It makes sense, few people can spend 13 hours of one day watching it all anyway.
damn i just started watching this show. My best friend and I stayed together for 8 years. We loved, we laughed and we waved goodbye. At 21 years old. We didn't know it would end so soon but she was in a tragic car accident back in 2018. She loved this show and I never really understood why, but I'm only on the third season so I realize why she liked it so much. She was my Joey, the girl that I grew up loving and caring about. We shared everything with each other... I thought all people did that but after she left I finally comprehended how special our relationship was. I can't share everything with my best friend, or my mom, or my counsellor. No, those wonderful moments were just for us, and only us. I relive them every day in my head, the moments that make me smile every time I see her face. You don't need a video, or a picture to capture the greatest moments of your life. They live with y0u, they breathe with you and they are expressed by you in every step that you take in life. I love you Emma, it's been almost 4 years and I can't wait to see your beautiful face again someday
Am I the only young person who likes this show? I remember always seeing reruns on tv as a kid and was so intrigued even though I had absolutely no idea what was going on lol. Finally decided to actually watch it from start to finish and still gets me hooked! The theme song always gives me a warm feeling inside. Wish they would make more original shows like this.
same I just found out the series is on Hulu I started today and it was a big let down not to hear this theme but at least I'm re-watching the episodes remembering the good old days and also I'm watching "Sabrina the teenage witch" as well, good job Hulu.
The first two season in Italy went out with different intros: now watching all season on prime and the “weird” track is on all the series! I wonder why
I didn’t get into the show until it’s last year but I binge watched when they showed it in syndication just after it ended. Ahh the nostalgia and how I would love to go back to that time. I guess only through getting older can we appreciate the small things when we were younger. I love music and TV because looking back I can always remember what was happening in my life at that moment and most memories I can look back and smile
Today’s kids will never understand man and I was like 5 years old when this aired it was a different feeling . It just brings sooo much peace . DC forever and always 💙
Well, I'm a "today's kid". And I feel like I do understand very well. Me and my mom were watching DC for two years now about once a week on DVD, until yesterday evening. I'm 13 now, and this show has already shaped so many of my decisions and me in general, so that all in all I think it isn't that different to your feeling back than. Btw I'm a big fan of the 90's TV shows and that kinda stuff, so maybe a large part of my generation is actually not like me and prefers stupid stuff from these days. But I wanted to tell you, because your comment sounds at least a little biased and selfish.😊 Lots of shared DC love💙
@@letiziarauch1439 it's really so so cool that you like it! It makes me smile. This show started when I was 15, so the characters were my exact age, getting into it. And you know, it really does hit differently when you are part of a generation that adored this and were shaped by it. I also started watching Buffy the Vampire slayer at that age. To be part of the generation of teens that grew up between Dawson and Buffy... I don't know man, it just created this group of people - in my opinion - that has a certain level of camaraderie and unspoken understanding that has a certain power to it. Today you get so many different shows and nobody watches the same stuff, at the same time. It doesn't always build a bond. In my country, Dawson aired on a Sunday evening. Once a week. There's just something else about only getting one episode a week, consistently, over the span of months vs binge watching a whole series over a weekend. It makes you feel like you are part of the lives of these fictional characters and it feels more real in terms of the progression of their lives. So by the time I went to university, both Buffy and Dawson, went to university. It was like you attended school and varsity with them at the same time. It is absolutely amazing that you love and appreciate a show, that us older millenials basically grew up with - but it will never be the same. You will never know the excitement of waiting for the next episode, discussing the latest episode with friends as soon as you get to school and sharing the same sense of excitement and anticipation for the next episode. And then, finally sitting down, with the rest of the country, on a Sunday night at the same time, and getting the rest of the story. So no, in this way, it will never hit the same for you. And I truly wish, so so much, that you actually could have experienced it this way. I think you would have appreciated it, even more! Xx. Much love kid!
I didn’t grow up with this show but man this song for the theme song punches me in the heart with nostalgia which makes me glad that they have a different one now
@@jakeseaster5329 couldn't buy it from Paula Cole or her people....apparently. 🤔 something like that. They are promising fans to try to rectify it for months now.

I will always adore this show, I was only born when this show first came out but at the same time escaped the major definitive millennial change of INTERNET EVERYTHING lmao, I first saw it properly when I was like 9 and as I rewatched as I got older I felt it captured so much of how I felt as a teen which a lot of shows miss out on now and I think its sad. 90s-00s teen shows had so much heart to them and got so much so right I wish more of the younger generation were aware of them!
You never know what's going to happen next in this new world we're facing. I started trying to think of all the things I'd want to do one more time just in case I don't make it through this pandemic... and on the top twenty list was actually just to relax and go back to the Creek. It's helping me bring back some wonderful times in life. There's just never been anything quite like this show.
The first 4 seasons on Dawsons Creek are probably some of the most perfect pieces of television ever made about the teenage experience. Its not about realism, it's about what being a teenager feels like. Dawson et al get to speak a language most teenagers could never vocalise but the words they speak on screen speak of what goes on inside the teenage mind. All the hurt, betrayal, lust, joy, friendship, learning, regret is all laid bare vocally. It's like an exaltation of teen angst but without the violence that angst so often is presented at. It's the flailing at trying to understand the truth of being the real you before the reality of being an adult removes all the choices from you. The catharsis is so real that I think almost every generation since broadcast can see themselves in it despite the fashion sense and references. The show literally gives me butterflies thinking about how strongly I emotionally connect to the characters at various different times. You don't really watch Dawson's creek, you feel it.
Is it just me or did netflix f up by not using the" i dont want to wait" in the intro theme song I feel that the theme of the episodes are effected terribly 😳
2 and 4 were always the best intro’s in my opinion ❤️ I don’t Want To Wait & Run Like Mad were both great theme songs, they summed up the show perfectly.
I miss those times when TV had great shows when the WB was around. Man. I even remember the last season they did a count down from the beginning to the last episode. It was the countdown to goodbye I was so sad. because DC was my show. I didn't watch a lot of TV but every time DC came on I was there to watch it. I made sure I was home every Wednesday at 7pm.
Oh man I got all emotional reading your comment. I feel the same way. I remember the last episode had me so emotional and confused, it was the first time ever I felt like that about a tv show, and I was only 15. It will forever have a special place in my heart.
I just saw a picture of Suri, who is about the same age now that Katie was when she started, it was like looking at a young Katie, wow she looks just like her mom.
My grandmother favorite show. This definitely takes me down memory lane. Oh how I miss her this year will make 17 years since she pass from cancer. I was 9 when she pass.
The close up of Katie in season 1, just before it fades out, she smiles and looks up. That is the moment my 19 year old self fell in love with Katie Holmes.
Always loved this theme song growing up, even though I didn't watch much of the show due to being slighter younger than the intended age demographic. It just pulls at the heartstrings.
I woke up with this in my head this morning!. "I Don't Want To Wait" as clear as a bell...William Bell...my old Fringe and Dawson's Creek fandom days must've got the better of me when I wrote fanfiction!. Both classic series.

@@twinningtwins4721 amen to that. It's some sad and oddly disconnected times we're living in.
@@XconnorX11 damn, this hits too close to home. Those days really felt like it was all a dream. Really difficult to make genuine and personal connections nowadays
@@XconnorX11 It kinda hurts to read your description.....i hope someday this trend will definitely end. I'm 20 and i feel this burden on my skin.
Not only do these themes songs make me nostalgic for the show, but it also makes me nostalgic for my childhood. I grew up in Wilmington and watching Dawson's Creek is like opening up a time capsule!
What about One Tree Hill as You can tell they were filmed both there if you look at the some of te same spot just a lil older in 1TH
@@SchofieldAJ OTH same. Rivercourt is downtown. I just have more nostalgia for Dawson's Creek.
Grew up as a teenager with this classic show, miss the 90s! Just rewatched all 6 seasons, Katie forever! 🙌
Holmes is awesome. I just love her lol
I'm watching on Hulu now and was waiting for this iconic song to come on. I had to skip through each 1st episode of each season and couldn't find it. Now I'm here 🤔
Damn i am having nostalgia.. i miss those days!
Takes me back. Needed this today x
You are the BEST!!!
X2
This series was popular here in Brazil in the late 90s when I was just 12. I've never seen it and yet I get goosebumps when I listen to the theme song. Maybe I'll watch it soon.
Who's here amidst the covid19?
im watching this on Hulu and Run Like Mad is actually the theme song...and im pissed about it
Me love this show so much
@@brahh8639 omg me and my husband thought the same thing. We thought at first they changed the song after the first season. Nope just on Hulu
Me
I have been rewatching Dawson's Creek on Netflix (my youth!), and I was so disappointed they didn't have the old theme song. I guess they don't have the rights to it or something. Had to come on here and look for it. So glad someone posted it! Thank you!
So many great memories with this theme song, amazing times
It brings back a lot of memories, I was really young when this came out but I remember the theme song and my mom watching it. So much nostalgia
They probably would have made better dvd /stream sales if they had the original theme song too😅
Oh my gosh, thank you whoever put this up, I just had to see the original intro. Whatever weird song they used for Hulu is just a big bowl of wrong.
apthunt25
OMG I went through every first episode of every season to see when this theme song started and I was like wtf where is it lol
Ľæůřęņ No this one is the original theme opening song.
i actually really like the new song its pretty catchy
The song they use on Hulu has something to do with copyright issues... or so I heard.
Ali DeLaine not true it has nothing to do with Hulu, the song also exist on the dvds as well. It was more so that they had the song and own the license to the newer version and wanted to let that version be heard, plus they wouldn't have to pay royalties for i don't want to wait.
If you ever get a chance to own the dvds or blu ray the commentary gives a ton of insight
i miss this time :(
Love 90' where i every week looked forward the favorite tv shows and went to the video rental in the weekend to find out the latest movies.
Michelle williams is the least "popular" in this series, but actually she's the biggest potential.
Jen (Michelle Williams) is my favorite character
I remember hearing this song a lot when I was young, that show was really popular among my older cousins and such.
Wardrobe was definitely The Gap.
Ernest Fox American Eagle. Definitely American Eagle.
It says the wardrobe was provided by j Crew in the closing credits
😂😂😂
That's funny as hell...it may have been the Gap but it's way better than wardrobe these days.Clothing is made so boring now.
j crew in the first 2 seasons then changed to american eagle
I love their clothes!❤️
Damn so much nostalgia, im only 26 and i still remember this like yesterday
Am I the only young person who likes this show? I remember always seeing reruns on tv as a kid and was so intrigued even though I had absolutely no idea what was going on lol. Finally decided to actually watch it from start to finish and still gets me hooked! The theme song always gives me a warm feeling inside. Wish they would make more original shows like this.
Not only you 😊.
.
Michelle Williams was my first crush 😂
Oh the memories. I watched every episode. Started rewatching on Hulu yesterday and now there is a horrible new theme song. Thanks for posting this
I was thinking of getting Hulu to watch this...now that they don't have the original theme song...I won't get it now. Thanks for the info.
same I just found out the series is on Hulu I started today and it was a big let down not to hear this theme but at least I'm re-watching the episodes remembering the good old days and also I'm watching "Sabrina the teenage witch" as well, good job Hulu.
The first two season in Italy went out with different intros: now watching all season on prime and the “weird” track is on all the series! I wonder why
Season 2 opening credits win it for me.
+uberanto i agree
supermilkguy that makes three of us.
Pacey falling back in sand in the season 2 intro has always been extremely cute to me for some reason.
uberanto I totally agree
I didn’t get into the show until it’s last year but I binge watched when they showed it in syndication just after it ended. Ahh the nostalgia and how I would love to go back to that time. I guess only through getting older can we appreciate the small things when we were younger. I love music and TV because looking back I can always remember what was happening in my life at that moment and most memories I can look back and smile
Today’s kids will never understand man and I was like 5 years old when this aired it was a different feeling . It just brings sooo much peace . DC forever and always 💙
I was 5 or 6
Well, I'm a "today's kid".
@@letiziarauch1439 sorry it’s not the same kid. Don’t be mad just because you didn’t live through the 90s.
I didn’t grow up with this show but man this song for the theme song punches me in the heart with nostalgia which makes me glad that they have a different one now
This is the song I will always associate with this show. Much better than the one Hulu uses...
Or Netflix, I was shocked when I heard the new song it doesn’t have the same feels, maybe it was changed due to copyright issues
I've never been able to find out why Hulu plays the other version for
@@jakeseaster5329 couldn't buy it from Paula Cole or her people....apparently. 🤔 something like that. They are promising fans to try to rectify it for months now.
@@irishcountrygirl78 Maybe the FANS need to tell Paula to quit being a Pacey and being Greedy and be a Joey r Dawson instead and take the Deal even if it is for a ll bit less money Paula now seems to be like the Rest very Greedy as Money Can't buy Happiness.
@@SchofieldAJ aww poor Pacey. He's not greedy 🤣🤣, but yeah, l think that's what people are saying. She stopped the use and it sucks.
Just finished the show, god it’s so good
You never know what's going to happen next in this new world we're facing. I started trying to think of all the things I'd want to do one more time just in case I don't make it through this pandemic... and on the top twenty list was actually just to relax and go back to the Creek. It's helping me bring back some wonderful times in life. There's just never been anything quite like this show.
Is it sad that I mute the Netflix intro and play this over it?
Worth it. 🙏🏻
Nope.Anything you can do t ok keep this one alive ❤️
Same girl same
Watching this with tears in my eyes , where s the time machine??? 🤧
Same 😢
The best era that ever exist in this ear were 90's and 2000's erlier 😭😭😭😭
agree!!! start of computers, internet, cellular phones that even average people could afford, great genre music, many else!
Ah the nostalgia of simpler times. Before technology took over.
such 90's aesthetic 💗
Yes.
Omigosh the nostalgia 😰 I love this show so much and enjoying binge watching on Netflix right now
"Youth, divine treasure,
already you leave to not return!
When I want to cry, I do not cry...
and at times I cry without wanting to..."
-Rubén Darío.
It's good to know that Rubén Darío's poems are well-known in English as well as Spanish.
Is it just me or did netflix f up by not using the" i dont want to wait" in the intro theme song I feel that the theme of the episodes are effected terribly 😳
Thank God for the skip intro button. Although I really like watching the intro, especially the first season
The "I don't want to wait " intro was the best part of the show. It's not just you
I'm guessing international licensing of the music caused the change.
2 and 4 were always the best intro’s in my opinion ❤️
I don’t Want To Wait & Run Like Mad were both great theme songs, they summed up the show perfectly.
I was thinking the exact same thing! How weird!
Me encanta esta serie, lo vi en su época y lo vuelvo a ver en este año 2022
Thank you! I'm binge watching Dawson's Creek now on Netflix and the opening is not the same with out my girl singing "I don't want to wait." 😎🙏🏾👏🏾
I miss that Frog announcing the WB.
Cherisse Tillman you might want to see the WB promo. F*cking tear jerker. “Crawl” is the song for the promo. Look it up. I’ll wait for a “thank you”
the wb is now called the cw
Yeah, I remember that countdown to goodbye.
I just saw a picture of Suri, who is about the same age now that Katie was when she started, it was like looking at a young Katie, wow she looks just like her mom.
I watched DC last year on Netflix and fell in love with it. I think that I watched as I child too but not regulary. This intro gave me goosebumps.
My grandmother favorite show. This definitely takes me down memory lane. Oh how I miss her this year will make 17 years since she pass from cancer. I was 9 when she pass.
Iam a guy, but i cry .... whyyy ... damn it T_T i miss 90s
The close up of Katie in season 1, just before it fades out, she smiles and looks up. That is the moment my 19 year old self fell in love with Katie Holmes.
Same omg
Always loved this theme song growing up, even though I didn't watch much of the show due to being slighter younger than the intended age demographic. It just pulls at the heartstrings.
Just finished listening to this song and Dawson creek pop in my head
This song plays where I work all the time and it makes me so happy!

I woke up with this in my head this morning!. "I Don't Want To Wait" as clear as a bell...William Bell...my old Fringe and Dawson's Creek fandom days must've got the better of me when I wrote fanfiction!. Both classic series.
Thanks for sharing this! I've been watching Dawson's Creek on Netflix and they use "Run Like Mad" for the opening theme. I like that song, but I always thought THIS was the theme song. I've read it was for the first two seasons, but then they lost the rights to the song and had to go with "Run Like Mad".
