I know it won’t make it better but, when I was 15 I had to participate in a poetry contest. I hated it and wanted out, but the teachers practically forced me… I tried telling my mom and she scolded me for telling her “too late” (I told her one week in advanced and it wasn’t enough) I told my sister who went to the same school if she could show up in the auditorium (she didn’t) and then I phoned my dad (my parents are divorced) he said he would show up. I was so happy and proud, I remember telling my friends that my dad would show up. Everyone had grandparents and parents show up… but nobody ended up showing up for me. I lost and got a participation award, I was so angry at myself for believing that someone would actually care. I tore the diploma apart and got consoled by my classmates (who usually bullied me but this time watched out for me). When the day was over my mom got angry again and yelled at me for destroying the diploma. But I just wanted to know why my dad didn’t show up, so I called him and we talked over the phone. He said “I forgot” And I called it a lie, so then he said. “I had a meeting” I argued that, hadn’t he forgotten? The excuses continued, he got angry and started yelling at me, mocking me for “caring too much about something so dumb” but then he said the thing that forever changed how I saw him. “It’s boring alright? It’s so boring I didn’t want to go!” Ever since, I’ve never invited him to anything related to me… he showed up to my birthday uninvited, he doesn’t know when I got school stuff ever again… I couldn’t even muster the courage to tell him about any achievements I had made… I know it probably doesn’t compare to being stood up in such a grand ceremony, but know this… as a child who also got stood up by his dad, don’t let anyone tell you how to feel about it. If you want to cry, cry. If you want to never forgive, never forgive. Have complex feelings about him all you want, it’s your burden to carry… but know that even if it’s heavy sometimes, there’s at least one person out there that cares! :) chin up! You’re too good for that person that never wanted to show up anyways :>

横浜で念願の生で聴けたのと このコロナ禍の中 BRADIO FPC FPP に会えたことで 本当に泣きそうになりました
