-the builders of the base did it indeed in survival, but not in vanilla (they used baritone autobuilder)

The canals was not built by the base builder those canals are named the southern canal. The canal stretches around 300k blocks. During the Rusher War, the Southern Canal was a large hub for Rushers as they would use it to escape Spawn, as the use of boats reduced hunger less than sprinting. Rushers, along with griefers, caused damage to several buildings along the canal. The two terminals at the start and end of the canals were both griefed during the war.

Amazing video. Few things to point out is that, unfortunately that is just a spawnbase that isnt griefed due to withers taking up too much time. The river you found is called the southern canal. Older than that megabase by like 5 years. Btw the shulk is a nice start. I started with 400k from spawn to a dupe stash.

Most RUclipsrs I've seen who played in 2b2t for the 1st time either got a lucky break meeting a generous regular, or simply escaped spawn to basically single player survival from there.

this is what i thought when i joined for the first time, its not even worth it for new players because there is no food and the spawn is just ruined, but it is cool that the server has been up for such a long time. Not to mention that it is kind of pay to win

We hate new players because they clog up the queue. We just want our server to be left alone. That obsidian structure took a week probably. And that canal is years older than that build it's probably 7 years old. That obsidian build is pretty small compared to other bases on 2b. Heck I based at a base that spanned 1,000 x 1,000 blocks.
Ok but it's not your server, so just let the new players try to have their fun :/
