I love how d-sides are always more then just changing the song and the characters designs, there’s always something added to make it that must more interesting
The inclusion of Wario and Waluigi sure did caught me off guard! I love to see more D-Sides songs that bring in more characters to stand out from their original counterparts.
Best part of this is seeing the d-sides designs for normal Mario characters. Song is amazing on its own but that’s just icing on the cake. Edit: yes the designs have been around for a year we just haven’t seen the normal designs used much. It’s exciting to see them being utilized instead of just existing.

That, and during Wario’s “nyeh nyeh nyeh nyeh nyeh” part may or may not be a Wario World reference, as waiting on the pause screen of that game makes Wario does the exact same thing.
Seeing the Superstar Saga battle start thing, imagine if when Wario and Waluigi come in, they're stylized to match Wario Land 4 and then the Mario Bros. change style to match SMB3 (specifically the Advance version).
I think for a D-sides Mario, it would be pretty silly and neat to have Mario be the tall green one, and Luigi be the small red one. Like their facial features and colors are the exact same. They just swapped names.
