I've watched this multiple times now while waiting for my S10 to be delivered :) Thank you for the great information! Going to take up the suggestion on practising on regular yarn.
Thank you for these videos. I also learned about how to use the 2 sets of hooks, I didn't know that the right side was for spinning and the left side is for plying. I would have liked to see what your yarn looks like on the bobbin to see how much twist you had. I tend to wind up with too much twist but I did appreciate your saying to wet the yarn and let it hang to get rid of some of the twist. Thank you!
Lovely Video, I have a Ashford Tradtional 1974, I’m disabled and have a few problems with my legs and found it very heavy to treadle so after trying a new Ashford in the shop it was a dream to use but could not afford the new price but I could not get over the difference, I asked some pro advice and was advised a Luet wheel , I managed to find one at a good price needing a new home and in time for my birthday so treated myself and it is lovely to use, one question I do have is on the sales RUclips for these wheels they say you don’t need to Oil the wheel joint as it’s lifetime lubricated, now I’m confused, can you give me any ideas on this, would be much appreciated as I’m new to these wheels and spinning.
Yes, I saw that on a Louet video - the guy said that you shouldn't oil the main bearing on the central part of the wheel as it may cause problems, and that the bearing is designed to last 'for life' (not sure whose life he meant!)
How interesting. I had an Ashford that was so hard to treadle that I ended up burning it in a fire pit. So frustrating. Just got a S10 and now I am struggling with how fast and smooth it is. I am in tears. Going to take a break and try again.
I just bought an S17 and the bearing squeaks after significant lubrication. It does not seem to go away while the flyer is spinning. I can't understand why it's still squeaking.

Hello Sierra, can you please demonstrate the huge flyer and bobbin with art yarn?

Thank you for making these videos. Very helpful. Now I know why there are 2 sets of hooks and how to use them.
Can you spin 2 strands together to create a Z twist??
