It's solid opening theory it's just that after bishop e3 for example white threatens nxc6 attacking the queen with a discovered attack on the bishop, winning the bishop. And the bishop can't really be defended with a pawn (eg d6) because after nxc6 bxc6 Bxc5 dxc5 black has tripled and isolated c pawns and they will likely fall. So basically as hikaru said it's solid theory but if you aren't careful the bishop could be a bit loose >:)

It's even worse than that, he doesn't actually have to do anything about the queen, he just has to make sure to block the bishop on that long diagonal. It's even worse than that, he doesn't actually have to do anything about the queen, he just has to make sure to block the bishop on that long diagonal. He played the absolute worst move possible as prior to moving the knight and giving the bishop a view of the f2 square, the checkmate would not have been possible.
