Mario Paint tip: after setting port 1 as the mouse, you can then save a Game Override in Quick Menu. What this does is automatically set port 1 as the mouse whenever Mario Paint is launched, so you don't need to set it manually each time you play it. Just make sure you select "Save Game Override" and *NOT* "Save Core Override."
The retro GBA shader presets, how do those work with an actual SNES emulator? Because I noticed some games are waaay too bright, Mario on the World Map of World almost looks whitish. The GBA shaders seem to tone the brightness down a bit and make the colors look a bit better compared to ScaleFX.
Hello from GErmany. I have a question , regardig different topic though, I don´t get any sound when I open ROMS. They play fine, but there´s no sound (with that new 2020 RetroArch version.). Any clu there, sir? Love from Germany
I have RA on my GPD XD+ and so far, the SNES9X core has been working fine. The only minor issue I run into is in Kirby's Dream Land 3 where water has lines in it, when set to "pixel perfect", unlike the Switch version via the SNES Online app.
Dream Land 3 runs using the "pseudo hi-res" mode where it renders the image twice as wide and then blends adjacent lines together. For RetroArch your best bet is to play around with shaders until you find one that blends the lines correctly. I use one of the S-Video shaders but if you prefer sharp pixels you'll have to go digging
@@jellyface401 This isn't a dumb question. So retroarch is providing us a service to play retro games. In order for us to do this they have a 'free' software for us to use. Inside this free software is 'core' or mini sub softwares which will allow you to play games. You have to pick your core as each core is different. All of this is stored in a server by retroarch. What happened, was some asshole hacked into this main server and fucked shit up. It mean now when you access retroarch the cores aren't there. Most likely we will have to wait for an update which will be them fixing issues like this. good question.
Hello! Really enjoying your 2020 tutorials! I was just wondering, is there any difference between creating a playlist via Desktop Menu (btw, I didn't even know that existed, so cool to be able to debug issues!) and the "Import content" on the root menu of Retroarch (the last option just after Netplay)? I normally use Import content and then the Manual Scan option on the directory I have the ROMs. Once it creates the playlist, I go to Online Updater and then Thumbnail Updater, I feel it might be easier to add large collections that way, and then you can use the desktop menu to fine tune it, what do you think? Hope I'm not talking out of my ass here and, again, I really appreciate your videos, subscribed!
glad they can help! As for the playlists, the content scanner will only add games if they are in the correct format so items can be missed. Especially a problem in the CD based systems. With the desktop menu you can add anything.hope that makes sense!
What do you recommend for most accurate CRT shader? I’ve tried Royale but I can’t get the scanlines right. They are too visible and have these boxes look. I’ve settled on NTSC with Gaussian + glow + slight curvature.
What SNES core would you recommend to play MegaMan X without lags or slowdowns?? I'm having those issues with Snes9x. I have RetroArch on Android device
What do you mean by slowdowns? The game has hardware lag that gets emulated on nearly every modern emulator. You would need to find one that allows SNES overclocking if that is the lag you are referring to.
@@leonardovillegas7015 ok so it is unable to maintain full speed on your device. you might need to use one of the older less accurate versions of snes9x.
Amazing vid man! thanks for the details. Got a question, is there any possibility to download the .dll externally? Since they were hacked, this core isn't available and I can't find it. Thanks again !
1.9.1 is supposed to restore everything that is missing so hopefully we see that in the next month or so. Getting closer every day to being able to do this indefinitely thanks to all the amazing people out there!
Higan isn't available. EDIT: And your BSNES video say it can't run super gameboy and need Hiden for that. So what am I supposed to get for Super Gameboy?

Great video, but could you change your description for now, to let us know that Higan isn't currently available? Thanks!
that are you using instead of Higan?
Why do I keep hearing Retro Ark, it drives me crazy lol.

I don't have higan in the list of the cores...
I dont see the Nintendo - SNES / Famicon (higan Accuracy) nor any Famicon options on SNES. Did I do something wrong?
They haven't been restored since the hack
@@ArchadesGames what hack?
The Retroarch github was hacked and tons of stuff deleted.
@@ArchadesGames Are you able to get SGB working with the current cores?
I have gotten SGB to work in the current BSNES core
higan accuracy is no longer available
Then bsnes is probably the most accurate I guess

Try switching up the Audio driver in the Retroarch settings. Sometimes it doesn't play nice with the default option. Hope it helps!

Is the GPD strong enough to run Higan or BSNES? I don't have one so I can't really speak for its capabilities.
Thanks for the video but those cores do not appear in the downloader my version is 1.9.0
They got hacked and haven't been restored yet.

Somehow that does not work on Android... there does not seem to be a higen core for Android.
I domt get the difference berween those 2 cores grafically speaking , is there a difference actually ?
